This is a smaller park that seems to have a mix of semi-permanent units and typical short duration campers. The major issue (that goes for the entire area) is the wind. The park is designed with dense shrubs between spots that are 5-10 feet tall to act as wind breaks. We were unfortunate enough to get a spot at the end of a row that allowed the wind to blow along the camper length wise. The park sits at the intersection of two fairly busy roads. You have to walk them if you want to go to the beach. Beach access is through a public parking lot next to a hotel about three blocks away. The wind is much calmer in the morning and picks up at night.

There a a decent camp store with most of what you may need. A Fred Meyer is 5 minutes away. You are on the opposite end of Florence from the downtown restaurants and shopping, but still 10 minutes away. We used it as a central hub for a week to explore the coast going an hour north and south along the 101.

As previously stated, you do get a sewer smell from time to time. The wind generally keeps it moving but it can get bad. The camp is definitely at max capacity for its septic system. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Were it not for a serious problem described below, the rating would have been much higher. Quiet and restful. Site needed blocks to level, otherwise front tires off ground (as next site's MH was). Sites are pretty spacious with good separation and bushes/trees between sites. Electric and water worked well; park wifi was quite good. Verizon data was weak, no AT&T phone/data. Foghorn slightly audible, not a problem. Less windy here than elsewhere in town, could have awning out. Roads and sites are gravel, a bit thin now. Picnic table could use replacing.

Two good good washers and dryers in laundry room ($2 and $1.50). Friendly and helpful staff. Bathrooms and showers clean and well-maintained; have to continuously push/hold down hot or cold water control in bathroom sinks or water shuts off immediately.

If the wind is not blowing or blowing in the "wrong" direction, sewer gas smells from the FHU site's individual raised (8-10') sewer vent pipe are overpowering and made it sickening to open a window or be outside, a significant problem. Strictly for this reason, we would not return. In discussing this with staff, they acknowledged they should look into this, as ours was not the only problem location in the park. If it were not for the sewer odor problem, I would have rated this park much higher, but it simply did not work for us. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Convenient to beach, about 2.5 miles to large Fred Meyer, about 5 to Safeway. Good restaurants downtown on Bay Street (Maple Street Grill, Breakwater, Waterfront Depot). Nearby Rhododendron Drive is a more scenic and peaceful route downtown (vs. Hwy 101).

We have stayed at this park several times over the years. The park is always clean and well maintained. This year they upgraded the wifi system which is great because there is no AT&T cell coverage at this location. The camp owners are extremely friendly and always engage in conversation and can offer great suggestions for the area. Sites are wide even with double slide outs. Large landscaping between sites gives great privacy. Not heavy in permanent residents so the park remains cleaner. Gravel roads are wide and provide plenty of room for maneuvers. Gravel sites are level and without holes.

On site store is well stocked.

Location is walking distance to the beach and is 10 minutes from downtown Florence.

Looking forward to another visit in 2017. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't miss Sea Lion Caves about 15 minutes north. Downtown Florence is a great place to spend the afternoon. Don't miss a meal at Bridgewater Restaurant.

If traveling with kids as we were, head to Family Fun Zone for go-karts, mini golf, and bumper boats.

This is a quiet park located a little off the beaten path. The sites are gravel, but separated from the adjacent sites by a row of bushes and trees, adding to the privacy. Most sites have full hookups but it appears some have only water and electric. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They clearly take pride in the park. The Wifi is good but occasionally slow, probably when lots of people are using at the same time. This is just like I've experienced at most other RV parks. There is Verizon cell service, but data rates are a little slow. It is a short pleasant walk to the beach. It can get pretty windy on the beach but it is notably calmer and warmer just a few blocks away in the park. Some sites have a clear shot for satellite TV but many have trees to the south. However, sites have cable TV. There is no dog run, but there are plenty of nice places to walk near the park. This park is one of my all time favorites. We are making our reservations now for next year. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. Some sites are small but all private. The staff was very friendly and helpful despite the fact they were full and very busy. The mini-mart on site was a big plus. It is a 2/10 mile walk to the beach. The restroom was immaculate, fresh, modern, and cared for. My wife used the shower ever day; helpful on getting the day started. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice smaller (older) park with gravel and dirt roads and sites. Not really pet friendly with no pet area. Beach access is not quite as close or easy as advertised. Could use some overall cleanup and maintenance. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very clean park. The sites are very level and there are bushes in between sites for privacy. The sites are not very wide, but work fine for big rigs. Do not be fooled by their website, there is quite a walk to the beach. We stayed 4 nights and would return should the occasion arise. The only reason I did not score a 10, is because the Wi-Fi is terrible. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

I will color this review with this statement. This was only the second park we have ever stayed in. My biggest frustration was when I booked the site I asked the guy for a pull-through site and he said they can't guarantee a pull-through they are first come first serve so I said no problem. We get there and they put is in a site that literally backs up to the showers and bathrooms with lots of foot traffic behind and sometimes through our site. The park is full so we will have to deal for a week. The next morning which was Sunday there are people leaving and plenty of big pull through sites empty so I go ask him if we can move and he says you will need to talk to my daughter in the office. I go up and ask and before I can even complete the sentence she tells me no we are booked up we couldn't move you until Wednesday. We are leaving Friday so it doesn't make sense. I try to explain the situation and she isn't even listening. She is rude as other reviewers have stated and I probably wouldn't stay here again because of that. But it was close to the beach although you had to walk down a road and cut through a hotel parking lot to get there. Everything worked as is should power, water, etc. The park is pet friendly but in this case it only means they allow pets. There isn't any grass anywhere unless you go to the horseshoe pits. The sites are all gravel with bushes in between for privacy, not sure what a four foot bush does for privacy but it was better than nothing. I think my biggest issue is the whole " we can't hold a pull-through, they're first come first serve" and then seeing no less than six options open up one day after we got there. If you decide to stay I would recommend avoiding any of the four sites that are backed up to the bathrooms unless you like lots of foot traffic and lights on the rear of your trailer all night! We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is our second overnight stay at this park. It is about 1 mile off of Hwy 101. Nice quiet park. I had originally requested a water-electric site, but we needed to dump the tanks so they gave us a full hook up, no problem. This time of year it is not especially busy, but given its location to the beach, I imagine that summer time would be a different story. There are huckleberry and salal bushes between each site which gives you some nice privacy screens. We used their cable hook up rather than setting up the Directv dish as it was raining. Their WiFi did not connect so we used our own Millenicom/Verizon Mi-Fi which worked just fine. We had been having trouble with one of our slides getting stuck out, and of course it happened again. The office referred us to a local technician, who was very helpful. Told us what we needed to get in order to fix it (the bolts we were using kept breaking). We were a few hours past check out time in our departure, but we were not charged for the extra night. There is a Thousand Trails campground in the area that we could have used for free, but for over night - I just love this place. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A very quite park. Lots of trees and each site is separated from the others by chest high bushes. At this time of year no kids were around and we were told that it usually is more of an adult campground. Very clean. Easy access to the sites. The gal at the desk was very helpful and friendly. Propane available and the mini-market is well stocked. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Site: All gravel and relatively level - we have auto-level, so it's not a big deal. Our utility service stand was well built. Huckleberry and salal between sites gives privacy. Pull-thru access was OK for our 36' fifth-wheel. Amenities: Wi-Fi was OK, cable pretty basic. Laundry was small, but clean and useable. Restrooms clean. Management: friendly. You can hear the surf from this park. It's about 1/4 mile to a public beach access - nice walk. Given the other parks we drove by or actually stopped at to check out, we'd stay at Heceta Beach again. Nice park and near the beach. Wi-Fi was not the best but OK. Sites are large, we had a pull-through, and shrubs divide each site. We were here in a 33 ft 5th wheel and had no trouble entering or exiting. Rate is Good Sam. We would definitely stay here again. Also propane was $2.75 per gal - which is a good price for people from California. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Good Sam rate. Campground very quiet. Two miles off Highway 101. Nice tall bushes and trees between each campsite. Close to beach but weather was chilly and windy. Low 50's, high mid 60's. Mini Mart on property carried about anything you would need. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

I gave this place an 8 because 9 and 10 are for resorts with all the amenities they have. This place is well maintained and was great to stay at. A ten minute walk to a beautiful beach. WiFi was good at 5bps at our site. Bathrooms were maintained and in excellent shape considering the age of the campground. We asked for a site that could see the DirecTV satellites and they knew which ones would work. Nice camp store with most necessary items plus a great selection of beers and doggie snacks. Price was for Good Sam discount and a W/E site. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
