Not a lot of recent reviews for this park. We based our decision to chose this park from friends that have stayed here before and recommended it. We needed an overnight spot after a 225 mile drive from east of Portland and this park met the needs. Gravel roads and gravel pads and as another reviewer stated, tall hedges provide privacy for your site. The entire park is on a slightly inclined slope so expect a little leveling to get your RV correctly positioned. Check in was easy and very nice people. They informed me you need a pressure regulator (which we had) because their water pressure is 120 psi. That's high, so be prepared along with the fact they are required to have back pressure connectors by the local water provider, so expect to see those on the hose bibs. We had no problems traversing the gravel roads like a previous poster stated. Cable TV and wifi were good. Showers were clean and good water pressure. Camp sites were cleaned and raked daily, so vacant sites were very nice looking. Campfire rings are present and you can move where ever it fits your needs. This park is about 1.5 miles west of Hwy 101 so there is absolutely no night noise to contend with. On park mini mart sold good local craft beers in their cold cases. We have only positive comments about this park and will consider it again when we travel this area in the future. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The management of this park is not very helpful or friendly. We booked two nights but had to change to one night. We called them two days in advance. The park owner charged us for both nights saying it is policy when you cancel. Yes, we were aware of the cancellation policy. We did not consider it a cancellation, rather a change. When we arrived we were asked if we had Good Sam. Yes, lifetime. We had to prove it by showing a card. Showed them the road service card but that was not acceptable. Your Road Service card and membership number are the same. So the staff went on GS website and verified. In over 20 years and hundreds of resorts and parks have never been ask to 'prove it'. The power grid is bad at times and damaged some of our equipment. I talked to the owner who blamed it on the power company. Caused our system to shut down. Burnt our power cord at the park pole. Had to replace it. Also damaged appliances inside the coach. We have a surge protector which helped but still had damage. It is clear the parks grid system is old and in need of repairs. There are considerable trees, branches and low bushes, so isles and turns are dangerously tight. Be sure to look both up and down for things that will damage your rig. Had a picnic table that was unusable and a fire ring also not usable. We would not stay here again. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is an unusual park in that the spaces are separated by tall hedges, about 8 ft high. It certainly provides privacy...but it's different. The pad is all gravel, mostly level. Hookups were fine. The folks at the office provided much info about the local area. Our big issue here was on the departure. In order to take a turn within the park I couldn't swing real wide because a truck was extended into a portion of the road. I got hung up in a tree trunk on the right side. You couldn't see the trunk (which extended on an angle from the lower trunk) because of other branches. The trunk ripped my rubber roof. The owner helped me get free - it took awhile. But he would not cut the tree. I felt he should have been more proactive in that regard. Any park that expects big rigs should be certain that all turns are absolutely clear. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

There was plenty of room in that turn. In fact there was a 5th wheel that drove around you while you were hung up in the tree. Don't blame others for your mistake.

We were only able to get a water & electric pull-through for the week that we stayed. This necessitated emptying tanks at the dump station once, which while inconvenient, was easy enough. The park had good privacy with all sites separated by high shrubs. Sites were gravel but level. Toilets and showers were very clean and maintained. Cable TV had about 20 channels and was clear. Wifi varied in speed between acceptable and very slow. It disconnected frequently, depending on time of day. We'll definitely stay here again. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Good Wi-Fi while we were here and 20 cable channels. The cable was a bit snowy but we could still see it. The park was very quiet even though it was full. Spaces were a bit tight but we were able to fit both truck and trailer. Some trees and bushes for privacy. We would definitely go back. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I liked this park. We styed 2 nights. Pretty tight in some sites. If your a 40' motorhome or 5th wheel, you're going to... have to squeeze. We're a 37' motorhome. Just letting you know.

If you like to burn a campfire you'll like this park. If you don't you can sit in your RV and smell the stinky fires. Stinks up the inside of your RV too.

I'm not a fan of campfires because it gets really smoky. Stinky stinky.

It's up to you, if you don't mind the smoky smoke, you'll like this park. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice park, with shrubs and trees separating the wide sites. It is at an intersection so I would recommend a site away from the street. Contrary to the other reviews when the wind was blowing we experienced no wind at out site or sewer smells. The store is well stocked and the prices are not too high. There is the sound of the foghorn. Bathrooms and showers clean and well-maintain. WiFi was very good. We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a smaller park that seems to have a mix of semi-permanent units and typical short duration campers. The major issue (that goes for the entire area) is the wind. The park is designed with dense shrubs between spots that are 5-10 feet tall to act as wind breaks. We were unfortunate enough to get a spot at the end of a row that allowed the wind to blow along the camper length wise. The park sits at the intersection of two fairly busy roads. You have to walk them if you want to go to the beach. Beach access is through a public parking lot next to a hotel about three blocks away. The wind is much calmer in the morning and picks up at night.

There a a decent camp store with most of what you may need. A Fred Meyer is 5 minutes away. You are on the opposite end of Florence from the downtown restaurants and shopping, but still 10 minutes away. We used it as a central hub for a week to explore the coast going an hour north and south along the 101.

As previously stated, you do get a sewer smell from time to time. The wind generally keeps it moving but it can get bad. The camp is definitely at max capacity for its septic system. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed at this park several times over the years. The park is always clean and well maintained. This year they upgraded the wifi system which is great because there is no AT&T cell coverage at this location. The camp owners are extremely friendly and always engage in conversation and can offer great suggestions for the area. Sites are wide even with double slide outs. Large landscaping between sites gives great privacy. Not heavy in permanent residents so the park remains cleaner. Gravel roads are wide and provide plenty of room for maneuvers. Gravel sites are level and without holes.

On site store is well stocked.

Location is walking distance to the beach and is 10 minutes from downtown Florence.

Looking forward to another visit in 2017. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Were it not for a serious problem described below, the rating would have been much higher. Quiet and restful. Site needed blocks to level, otherwise front tires off ground (as next site's MH was). Sites are pretty spacious with good separation and bushes/trees between sites. Electric and water worked well; park wifi was quite good. Verizon data was weak, no AT&T phone/data. Foghorn slightly audible, not a problem. Less windy here than elsewhere in town, could have awning out. Roads and sites are gravel, a bit thin now. Picnic table could use replacing.

Two good good washers and dryers in laundry room ($2 and $1.50). Friendly and helpful staff. Bathrooms and showers clean and well-maintained; have to continuously push/hold down hot or cold water control in bathroom sinks or water shuts off immediately.

If the wind is not blowing or blowing in the "wrong" direction, sewer gas smells from the FHU site's individual raised (8-10') sewer vent pipe are overpowering and made it sickening to open a window or be outside, a significant problem. Strictly for this reason, we would not return. In discussing this with staff, they acknowledged they should look into this, as ours was not the only problem location in the park. If it were not for the sewer odor problem, I would have rated this park much higher, but it simply did not work for us. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Convenient to beach, about 2.5 miles to large Fred Meyer, about 5 to Safeway. Good restaurants downtown on Bay Street (Maple Street Grill, Breakwater, Waterfront Depot). Nearby Rhododendron Drive is a more scenic and peaceful route downtown (vs. Hwy 101).

This is a quiet park located a little off the beaten path. The sites are gravel, but separated from the adjacent sites by a row of bushes and trees, adding to the privacy. Most sites have full hookups but it appears some have only water and electric. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They clearly take pride in the park. The Wifi is good but occasionally slow, probably when lots of people are using at the same time. This is just like I've experienced at most other RV parks. There is Verizon cell service, but data rates are a little slow. It is a short pleasant walk to the beach. It can get pretty windy on the beach but it is notably calmer and warmer just a few blocks away in the park. Some sites have a clear shot for satellite TV but many have trees to the south. However, sites have cable TV. There is no dog run, but there are plenty of nice places to walk near the park. This park is one of my all time favorites. We are making our reservations now for next year. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice smaller (older) park with gravel and dirt roads and sites. Not really pet friendly with no pet area. Beach access is not quite as close or easy as advertised. Could use some overall cleanup and maintenance. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. Some sites are small but all private. The staff was very friendly and helpful despite the fact they were full and very busy. The mini-mart on site was a big plus. It is a 2/10 mile walk to the beach. The restroom was immaculate, fresh, modern, and cared for. My wife used the shower ever day; helpful on getting the day started. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very clean park. The sites are very level and there are bushes in between sites for privacy. The sites are not very wide, but work fine for big rigs. Do not be fooled by their website, there is quite a walk to the beach. We stayed 4 nights and would return should the occasion arise. The only reason I did not score a 10, is because the Wi-Fi is terrible. We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

I will color this review with this statement. This was only the second park we have ever stayed in. My biggest frustration was when I booked the site I asked the guy for a pull-through site and he said they can't guarantee a pull-through they are first come first serve so I said no problem. We get there and they put is in a site that literally backs up to the showers and bathrooms with lots of foot traffic behind and sometimes through our site. The park is full so we will have to deal for a week. The next morning which was Sunday there are people leaving and plenty of big pull through sites empty so I go ask him if we can move and he says you will need to talk to my daughter in the office. I go up and ask and before I can even complete the sentence she tells me no we are booked up we couldn't move you until Wednesday. We are leaving Friday so it doesn't make sense. I try to explain the situation and she isn't even listening. She is rude as other reviewers have stated and I probably wouldn't stay here again because of that. But it was close to the beach although you had to walk down a road and cut through a hotel parking lot to get there. Everything worked as is should power, water, etc. The park is pet friendly but in this case it only means they allow pets. There isn't any grass anywhere unless you go to the horseshoe pits. The sites are all gravel with bushes in between for privacy, not sure what a four foot bush does for privacy but it was better than nothing. I think my biggest issue is the whole " we can't hold a pull-through, they're first come first serve" and then seeing no less than six options open up one day after we got there. If you decide to stay I would recommend avoiding any of the four sites that are backed up to the bathrooms unless you like lots of foot traffic and lights on the rear of your trailer all night! We camped at Heceta Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
