Tried booking online the day before. The site locked up. Tried calling in the morning, but couldn't get through. Finally got through in the afternoon when I was only about 1 hr away. Said they had 1 partial hookup site (electric, water). Site was large, but hookup was on the wrong side. All I really needed was electricity. Plugged in, opened slide, turned on AC. When I attempted to turn on Winegard Traveler satellite, the power went out, but didn't flip the circuit breaker. AC would come back on for 3 seconds and stop again. Satellite didn't find a signal due to the many trees, so I shut it down. Tried hooking up to site next to mine and it worked fine, but they said that site was already booked. With just the AC on, it worked, so I went for a drive to Crater Lake, which was a waste of gas, as the smoke was so thick from all the fires, I couldn't see the lake. When I got back, I tried to just turn the TV on air channels. As soon as I turned the TV on, the power went out again. At that point, I gave up and left the campground, and went to Collier State Park Campground. Hated having to leave and go to a new campground in the dark. DO NOT STAY IN SITE 22. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park fits in well with the Crater Lake experience. It sits on a small river, has large expanses of lawn, play areas for the kids and the grounds are in excellent shape. We camped right on the river (see photo). The staff is very helpful and friendly They have multiple areas for those with dogs and provide trash receptacles in multiple spots. Laundry, Bathrooms, and Shower area are very clean except for the sometimes inconsiderate campers who think their Mother follows them around to clean up after them. I rated the camp a 9 but it is unfortunately located right next to the road so you hear every car that passes by. My guess is that it could be noisy on the weekends, but the quality of the park makes the sound livable. Oh yes, for those who have never heard a bull in "heat" it can also be entertaining. The sounds are joyful! We camped in the 23' trailer. All of the utilities were in excellent condition. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a wilderness campground. Fort Klamath is about 5 minutes away if you want to see an old wilderness post. There is also a small general store there. The camp has a small store that is stocked well; you will have almost anything that you need for those "forgotten" items.

There is no AT&T service here whatsoever, but the wifi is pretty decent, especially for an RV park. Verizon is the only one that works, and it's just as bad as you get into Crater Lake National Park. Certainly not the park's fault though, as it's a lovely place. We had a cute site that backed up to the creek, and they we used their fire pits (one by each site) every night. It was very convenient to get to the park, and the resort had a great little store (which is important because there's almost nothing else in the way of civilization for quite some way). The staff was very helpful. We'd definitely return if we were staying by Crater Lake as long as we didn't need cell service. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We went up to Umpqua Hot Springs, but felt that it was very hippie and not worth the trip. Crater Lake National Park is gorgeous, but don't go before they open the full road (probably in June). Make sure you bring food to cook, as there isn't much in the way of restaurants or grocery stores.

A little tight for the 9(?) RV sites that are adjacent to the quiet stream flowing past. Convenient small store on site. Adjacent to highway to Crater from the south, but noise wasn't bothersome. Nice trail to walk your dog with bridges coming and going across the small stream. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Crater Lake Resort is on the Fort Creek. My site was large on well-maintained grass with trees. Pyrethrum spread to control mosquitoes. Block and cube ice was available in the resort store. Two laundry machines were in an old facility. There is only one shower for a couple hundred campers. The restroom facility needs updating and expansion. Some road noise and barking dogs. Canoe rentals for the stream seemed very popular with campers. Proximity to Crater Lake National Park is about a half-hour and four hours to Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Tent.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

I can easily see this campground receiving different ratings from tenters, those who stay in the cabins and rv'ers. Rv'ers with smaller rigs may be happier as well. There are only a few sites really large enough for big rigs (#23 is best). Sites backing up to the road are not consistent in width because of tree location. We had to back in at an angle to fit and park the truck elsewhere (38' fifth wheel). Proximity to the highway was annoying as it is very busy. While mentioning negatives, there is no dump station, the sink for washing dishes is also the bathroom sink and there are only two stalls and one shower in each restroom. On the positive side, the grounds are spacious and very nice. There is a short trail along the stream and the f/h/u sites back onto this. The little store has a surprising assortment of edibles as well as wine and beer. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Good road to the park. Small park with only a couple sites for big rigs. Manageable to get into those sites with big area to maneuver. We were not able to get satellite parked in big (messy) pine trees. We had a FHU site with 30 amp and utilities were fine. Free Wifi worked well. Weak Verizon but able to make calls. Perfect place to go into Crater Lake NP. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the place to stay if visiting Crater Lake. Very clean, the office staff is very friendly and helpful. They even washed a blanket for us that our dog had gotten sick on. Wifi so far is good. Some trees but not too many as the satellite was able to get reception. Free canoe use, free bikes to use, kids playground, and you can even use their BBQ. Shower was very clean and plenty of hot water. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Small campground, all back in sites. Tough for big rigs. Only 30 amp service. Very few full service sites. Gravel roads & sites, very dusty. However, staff was very nice. Well stocked store, with wine & beer. Close to Crater Lake NP, about 30 minutes. Nice grassy area for tents & common area with large, mature trees. No charge for canoes or bikes which I think KOA' s could take note. Small laundry, $3/load. Quiet, well kept. Several cabins. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Great family-friendly campground, beautiful setting, friendly welcoming staff. You may sign out a canoe and walk a pleasant trail around the grounds. There are bikes for the kids to use and a large fire ring to cuddle up to in the evening. There are cabins as well.

Almost impossible to use the sewer hookup, as the site slopes down and the sewer connection is 12 inches high. Waste does NOT flow up-hill! We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

+ 8 We like Crater Lake RV, so have camped here half-a-dozen times. The park is immaculate and quiet; the sites are level and back up to small, meandering Fort Creek; electricity is good
- 2 Sites are narrow; water pressure is low, but not really a problem

The spot we were able to get was water and 30 AMP electric only. They assured me that we would be able to dump our tanks before leaving but it turns out that I would have to use one of their sites with a sewer connection but when we left they were all occupied so no dump. Our site backed up to the highway so was a little exposed to the road noise although it had nice shade. The grounds were nice and they had plentiful open space to hang out in. Also, they have a nice large gas grill available for any guest to use also DVDs to loan. It was convenient to visit Crater Lake. Overall, an average experience for the price. This was the most difficulty we've ever had trying to level the rig. We had to use six 2 X 6 boards. The sites are short and narrow, the rig sticks out into the driveway and there is scant room to park the tow, but they back right up to a pretty creek, Fort Creek. The bathrooms are OK, nothing special. Concrete floors, wooden stalls. The Wi-Fi is spotty and mostly non-functional. No cable but there are movies (DVDs) to borrow. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Motorhome.
