This is a great location to use as a base camp for exploring the beauty of Wheeler County and the John Day Fossil beds. There is a mix of tent and trailer sites. Some of the sites are small and some are absolutely HUGE, about half the sites have water, closest sewage dump is back in Fossil. There is some pit toilets that were newer and clean, the park host here is VERY friendly. We camped in site #2 which was a 70ft pull through, however I wouldn't recommend anyone pulling anything larger than say 30ft as some of the corners would be hard to make. The rates were $10 first night and $5 each night thereafter. it's a very nice campground, our only wish is that it was farther from the highway as you can here the traffic going by occasionally. We camped at Shelton Wayside Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo
