This is a gem of a State Park. They have hundreds of sites from campsites to full hook up for big rigs. Reservations are best of course, but we just dropped in, and if they have sites available, they can assign one right there on the spot! No need to call Reserve America! Ask for your specific needs. We had a full hook up site. You can also call to check availability. Sites are all located in an old growth Oregon forest, so they are shaded all the time with many huge old trees. This used to be an outpost that protected the Columbia river entrance during WWII. Now, it's 4300 acres of beautiful park, with lakes, miles and miles of paved bike trails, ocean beaches and tours of the old fort and museum. Lots to explore here. Lewis and Clark ended their journey west near here at Fort Clatsop (3 miles away) in the winter of 1805-1806, and boiled seawater for months to have enough salt for their journey home. The area is dripping with Lewis and Clark expedition history. We've all read about this in our history classes, and here's a chance to see it all in real life! Great experiences! Great place to stage for history, Astoria and the local area. Costco nearby, everything else close as well. We used AT&T hotspot for WiFi, no problem, and also received numerous over the air signals for TV to our surprise. We look forward to returning here for a longer stay. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We did not reserve in advance for our early September Sunday afternoon (1-ish) arrival but had no trouble getting a full hook-up site. As you can see by the photo, it was well vegetated. The park is great, with its old fort, river beach and ocean beach access, even an old wreck. There are plenty of well-laid out hiking/walking trails. Astoria is a great town to explore, and the high bridge across the Columbia River gives access to interesting day-trips on the Washington side. This campground is a great headquarters for Lewis & Clark buffs, with lots of L&C locations just a day-trip away. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Travel Trailer.

A huge Oregon state park with a real mix of sites. Most of the sites are heavily wooded in constant shade, so if there is rain, nothing ever dries out. Depending on the site, big rig access may be a bit tough, and some pruning may be required to avoid scratching paint. Great walking/biking trails, a cool old fort to explore, and a really nice beach that you are allowed to drive on (4wd recommended). Close to Astoria with great restaurants and breweries. No satellite reception due to heavy tree coverage, Verizon and AT&T are very spotty depending on location. We enjoyed our stay and will be back. Reserve in advance if you want full hookups, and this is one of the few parks I would recommend getting a site on the main road, especially if here in cooler weather so you can enjoy some sun at your site. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Motorhome.

Entry is so beautiful. Green, trees and very appealing. However the camping sites are disgraceful. Dirty, not clean and a complete mess. My wife at first was going to pick up the trash, but decided that it should have been done already. CG host are selling fire wood, not cleaning up sites. We would not stay here again.. Very disappointing.. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Motorhome.

Wonderful park if visiting Astoria. KOA just outside the park if you can't get a site with sewer but the dump station at the park has three lanes and is easy access. We spent five days in park with W/E. Huge spot, tons of room between sites. Very busy park so book early. Roof satellite worked perfect for DirecTV in this site. Beautiful state park in the trees. Lots to do especially if you like to bike. Easy to get to beach and historical sites within the park. Lots of kids this time of year so you need to drive very carefully in the loops. Verizon cell had 1 bar; AT&T no service. Most of the Oregon coast has surprisingly bad cell service. Would definitely stay at Fort Stevens again. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Motorhome.

The Fort George Brewery in Astoria has a rooftop bar and great beers. Pizza is a little unusual but we liked it! The Farmers Market in Astoria on Sunday was very nice too.

Our site was level and we had no trouble parking our 40 ft coach in it. We did see some other sites that weren't as level and a few sites that people couldn't park their units in because of tree placement--so be sure you look not only at your site, but the ones opposite for trees, before you make your reservation. This park has the most beautiful bike trails we have ever seen. The fort is also full of fascinating history. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Motorhome.

A very large park with paved streets. Verizon cell very weak. Got a site that had a clearing for satelite to work, most do not. In 40 plus years of camping this by far was the noisiest park we have ever stayed in. Kids you expect, drunk adults and barking dogs, not so much. Would not consider it big rig friendly, tight turns and close trees. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Huge Oregon State Park and campground. Pros: Older, but well-maintained Oregon state park campground. Campsites are a 30-minute walk to the beach. Several miles of excellent walking/biking paths. Cons: Very crowded from mid-May through mid-September; reservations suggested. Many campsites are deep enough to accommodate larger RVs and trailers, but not wide enough to offer a sense of privacy. No sites with sewer service. No pull-through sites. Limited to no cell service throughout the CG. Tall shade trees limit satellite TV access at most sites. Recommendation: Excellent CG for a short visit while exploring the North Oregon coast. Heavily treed CG shelters most sites from constant coastal winds. Remember: even in the summer, the North Oregon Coast has far more cool and rainy days than warm and sunny days. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Huge park and the grounds are kept up very well. Water pressure was low, but all other utilities worked fine. No satellite coverage. AT&T and Verizon were both marginal. The sites are good sized. Lots to do in the park, but not close to the campgrounds. Pretty much have to drive or ride bikes to wherever you want to go. The mosquitos were horrible even during the day. Looks like you could have multiple tents and vehicles along with the rig on each site as some sites were really full. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
