We were in the park for a gathering of friends who decided to see a total eclipse. The owners were wonderful and did everything they could to facilitate our stay. Their pavilion was smallish but adequate for our group needs. The park is being reinvented by the new owners and we wholeheartedly support their efforts. We will return to revisit whenever we are in the area and will reroute to this park even if we are only going to be remotely in that part of Oregon. The trails nearby the park, the close by river, the many trees and large sites make for a pleasant stay. Full hookup at all sites. We camped at River Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The park is in a secluded remote area of Oregon and for that reason I would suggest that you do your shopping for groceries etc in large centers in major cities. The local services are adequate for sodas, milk, bread eggs and vegetables but filling the fridge with meat etc is easier done in Salem to the west or Sisters to the east.

We enjoyed our stay during the Eclipse. We camped with a rather large group, and were allowed to use the shelter area for group meals. The owners were friendly, and the campground was kept tidy and clean. Beautiful access to the river with interesting rocks and scenery to take pictures for remembering our trip. We camped at River Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

River Mountain is a fine place! As others have mentioned, wifi good near the office, cell signal not good. But, talking more and hearing tall tales around a campfire are great. And the owners are like family! They do the very best to make sure everyone is happy! And he plays very good guitar. Like fishing? It's here! The river is a few steps, and Detroit Lake is moments away. Yes, good fishing! Lots are spacious and mostly shady. Site surface is gravel and features a fire ring and picnic table. We will be back, and for good reasons!!!! We camped at River Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Detroit is 3 miles away. Good cell signal and wifi at the restaurants. Visit the marinas! Silverton is a fun city nearby. History, gardens, and great food!

This was our second trip to River Mountain and I invited 40 friends to join us. We came to view the total solar eclipse on 8/21. We stayed 15 days and enjoyed everything except the smoke from wildfires higher up the mountain. The excellent hosts were even able to get the state Fire Marshall out, who exempted the campground from the regional burn ban. We had real campfires at night and free use of the covered pavilion.

I had useable Verizon voice and text service, but no data. This in many ways turned out to be a positive for our group: we spent more time talking and playing together. There is good, no charge wifi near the office for when I needed a data fix. We'll be back! The posted rate reflects weekly discount. We camped at River Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Just upriver from Detroit Lake. Legal size trout are stocked from the bridge near the campground. I'm told the fishing is great from the banks of the campground.

If your aim is to enjoy the great outdoors from a centrally located RV park, this is the park you should choose. Lovely pine trees, river just steps away, friendly owners, and FHUs. Many Oregonians are repeat customers to this small but fully adequate RV park. If you have lost your desire to camp in an open field this campground will remind you of your first years that you "went campin". We camped at River Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Safeco in Slayton was only 25 miles away. Exploring Detroit Lake was a treat. Get a fishing license, they stock the river next to the park.

This is a very nice park. Close to the river, lots of shade. Hosts are excellent. Out in the boonies though, wifi is good near the office and that's about it. We camped at River Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park in beautiful surroundings. Wonderful host. Very peaceful & relaxing. Poor to middling cell coverage. Site 1 is challenging to get into for a big rig, but after getting in we loved it. We camped at River Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

A hidden gem! This little park sits on the banks of the Santiam River just east of Detroit Lake. To get there you cross a one lane bridge over the river and follow the signs down to a secluded oasis. This is not an RV resort, but rather a wonderful old fashion RV Park. The current owners have restored this neglected park to it's rightful glory. I only stayed 1 night this trip but will be returning in August with 20+ other RVs for 2 weeks of fun. We are excited to be able to rally in such a great little park and view the total Solar eclipse on 8/21. Mature trees shade the RV section and much of the tent camping area as well. Big rigs will fit, but without much space behind them in the back in sites. This park was built before 45' RVs. The restrooms, showers and laundry are spotless and the grounds are well kept. The interior roads and sites are level gravel with grass elsewhere. The sites have picnic tables and some have fire burning tubs made from old washing machine tubs. There is a pavilion with benches for groups. I'm told the bank fishing is great but I didn't have a chance to try my luck. The park is at the northern tip of Detroit Lake and trout are stocked at the bridge you cross to get to the park. The owners are friendly and helpful. I had a problem with power at my site and they immediately responded to fix it. If you are wanting an activity director and pickle ball courts, forget it. If you want a relaxing stay in a peaceful setting this is a great place.

There are a few cabins and park models if you have friends without RVs wanting to join you. The owners are a great resource for other things to do in the area. We camped at River Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.
