2 RV Parks near Monument, Oregon
Jul 2016 - $30.00
Monument is located on the North Fork of the John Day River, approximately 120 miles southwest of Pendleton, 60 miles northwest of John Day, 142 miles northeast of Bend, and 190 miles southeast from the Portland airport.
This is a combination Motel and RV park. The park is very quiet and peaceful. Located directly next to a large open field where wildlife such as deer, Mountain Goats and wild turkey can be spotted.
It is a very simple park with a friendly family owned staff. It could stand some improvements, but considering the very small town size, it is amazing it exists at all. - Oregon_Adventure

I arrived here without a reservation because I was unable to get into the RV park across the street. Based on the glowing postings previously, I was expecting something a lot better, but I was tired and it was getting late, so I did not want to continue driving, and these two parks were the only ones within 20 miles. First, I could not find the owner and had to drive around for a while. Also, sites were gravel and uneven and this place looks like it has seen better days. In addition, there are only a handful of electric sites and none were satellite-friendly. Also, I had to fill up my water tank at a central fill station that had a dirty-looking hose, so I went around and got my own hose because I did not want to stick that one into my water fill opening. Because the ground was muddy, I held it off the muddy ground while I put enough water in my tank for one night. The place was nearly empty, other than a couple of what looked like permanent residents and one tenter. Anyway, I got parked, went inside my rig, and closed all my drapes for the night. It was quiet, which was good, but I was glad to get out of there in the morning. Verizon signal was good. Note that the owner does not take credit cards--cash and check only. - judy_online

Park has 2 back-ins (sites 5 and 6) and one pull-through (site 10) with 30 Amp electric service. No water or sewer at the sites. There is a water tap and a dump station. There is no TV service and no ATT phone service. But best of all, we were able to use the park's wifi from site 6. The shower/bathroom was clean and roomy. Sites 5 and 6 fronted right on the river and was very quiet. There was a picnic table. The owner is very informative and will provide good directions and details. - Markk

Perfect spot for passing through. Laid back, friendly, and super comfortable. And the best campground bathroom I've ever seen. - Lazlita
