This is family camp. Assuming you like camping with 500+ of your closest friends. Very open, no privacy, very noisy. A shock compared to Ft Stevens just up the coast. Camp was very clean. We camped here to be next to some friends from Canada. Good spot. This is not a campground we will return to except to be close to visiting friends. Manzanita is a nice town, and full of people. Terrible parking. Beach was close for sunset, and sky was clear to watch the space station fly over. Dump station on the way out. 2 long lines for two stations, get there early or just be patient. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Truck Camper.

Overall Rating:

Oregon beach park in August, so if the crowds and kids bother you, you may not enjoy. It was completely full every night. We personally enjoy seeing the kids enjoying the family camping experience, reminds us of fun times earlier in life. There is a good variety of camp spots, some with no shade some with a lot. in general, the spots on the outside of the loops are longer and shadier than those on the inside of loops. We were in a mostly shady spot on the outside of loop A. Had to be very careful backing in because of low branches extending over the pad. The trees are all "sea pines" that don't get very high, but tend to spread their branches. Pads are 90 degrees to the relatively narrow roadway. Beautiful long wide beach. The walk over the dunes is on soft sand. Must add a note on the dumpsters. They are the type that incorporates a compactor to reduce volume. I understand the reasoning, but it leads to quite a strong smell that is quite evident in nearby camp spots. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Tilamonk cheese factory can be a fun experience. We have been in years past and enjoyed it. It has greatly increased in visitations and now has extremely long lines. Would not return in peak summer periods.

This is not the place to go if you are looking for a quiet or enjoyable experience. It was full of family reunions where parents let kids run wild screaming and yelling and riding their bikes without looking out for cars, other bikes or people walking. Many kids almost ran into our car as we were slowly driving. Rangers did not come into campground loops at all. It was not just our loop - we stayed in 3 separate areas and all were bad. There are no overflow parking spots. People just parked on the grass. There are also no group sites in this park so chances are very good that you will have 3-4 families in a space by you.

Too many kids and adults yelling and playing loud music. Worst experience ever! We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

OK park, but not among Oregon's best IMO. Don't trust your GPS to get to park. Follow directions on Ore SP web-site. Sites very close with nothing in between. -0- privacy. Bikes & scooters/skate boards everywhere & not following park policy of riding with traffic flow. Direct beach access involves "breath taking" hike (not the good kind). Be careful when you reserve your site. No bathroom/shower building in C or D loop & no place to park close to the restrooms in B or E, so it's a long hike. Despite above it's NOT a 'bad' park, just not as good as most Ore SP's we've visited. Probably won't go back. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Not much in Manzanita. 9-hole golf course was very nice, but brutal walk & no power carts for rent. Wife enjoyed shopping for antiques/souveniers etc in Nehalem. Had a great day shopping & eating (The Beach Bite) in Rockaway Beach (10 mi m/l). 25 mi m/l to cheese factory/Fred Meyer etc in Tillamook.

This is an excellent campground if you like to walk the beach. Facilities are clean, and the staff (including hosts) are helpful. Quiet and beautiful. My sister stayed in a yurt which she enjoyed. There are many beautiful coastal beaches nearby. Look forward to my next visit here. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here at the beginning of April 2018 and loved it so much we extended our stay 2 days. In addition to the nightly rate there is an $8 fee for reserving online. The beach was a short walk from the campsite over some dunes and it was beautiful and full of sand dollars! The facilities were clean, showers were free and had good pressure and warmth. RV sites were paved asphalt and ours was level and fit our 26' trailer and truck perfectly. It was busy when we were there but there were never any noise problems. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is that when we wanted to extend our stay we asked the host if we could fill out the registration card and provide payment for the extra days. We were told we could but they wouldn't record those payments/reservations until the following morning so if someone went online and reserved the spot in the meantime, that would supersede us. The only way to guarantee the spot was to go online and reserve it and pay the $8 reservation fee again. Wish the hosts could have helped us out and just recorded the reservation right then, but I'm sure they have protocol they have to follow. The site was nice enough to pay the extra $8. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Host staff was not very visible, and most likely due to season but at least marked reserved sites. Level site, good coverage, lots of trails, and a adventurous hike to Mazanita which makes for a good day trip. Beach here is a long walking beach, with a inner bay that has a boat launch. At the far end of campground they have horse camp which has covered stalls I though where cool. Another great Oregon park I visited before, and need to try in the Summer time. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Another "typical" Oregon State Park. After staying in several of them, we are impressed with the quality of the Parks. Roads and sites are asphalt paved, level and east to access. Lots of trees and grass. Bathrooms and showers are well maintained and clean. Has 20/ 30 amp power, water, but no sewer. Free dump station onsite. Large, additional parking lot near entrance. No cable, no WIFI, good ATT and Verizon signal. Good personal WIFI with booster. Has picnic table and fire ring. Staff comes around each afternoon with firewood for sale. Close to beach with several access points. Has a "horse campground" with individual stalls next to RV site. 30 minutes to Tillamook Cheese Factory. Close to Seaside on the north. The town of Manzanita is within walking/biking distance. Would stay again. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our stay at this campground. Paved, level sites. However, some sites are a bit tricky to get backed into due to trees and narrow roadway through the park. Travel trailers, and particularly fifth wheels and larger motorhomes, motor coaches need to pay particular attention to the low hanging trees along the roadway. Our travel partners actually came into contact with a tree limb while backing his fifth wheel into his site. There is also a horse campground located in the H Section. We walked through and saw several sites occupied. There are deer and bunnies, some of the deer will actually take food from your hand. Suggest giving them apples or carrots instead of people food as this is not good for them. Play area of kids, walk to beach is available however soft sand makes the walk a little difficult. Once at the beach, it is a very nice big beach. Typical state park hook ups, no sewer but the dump station if located on the way out and had two lanes to accommodate the large volume of campers using the dump station, so at times it is very, very busy. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like good fish and chips, or clam chowder, take the drive to Bay City, about 20 minutes South, and go to the Fish Peddler. They offer other seafood as well, good menu. Tuesday is senior day and you can get a 20% discount.

Beautiful state park with paved, level sites. We have a 40 ft 5th wheel and were able to fit into site A41 with no trouble. The sites along this stretch of the A loop seemed to have a little more room around them than sites in the rest of the campground. We backed up to woods for a little privacy. The loops can be tight to drive around as you're getting to your site, especially when it's crowded with lots of people and vehicles in or near the road. We arrived on a weekday and didn't have any trouble. There are wonderful paved bike trails at this park, as well as plenty of beach access. Verizon and AT&T both worked well there. We ate dinner one night at the Pizza Garden nearby which was wonderful, they use all fresh ingredients. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

While we enjoyed our 5-night stay in Nehalem Bay state Park, we were a bit underwhelmed overall with the campground. We found the sites to be a bit close together (compared to other Oregon State Parks) and the bathrooms weren't updated and very inconvenient for those in the C and D loops, as you have to walk to an adjacent loop. Mostly, we found that beach access was difficult for our special needs son who could never navigate the "path" that goes over a large deep sand berm (hill). We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed 2 night over July 4th. While there was plenty of space between the sites, the park seemed very crowded with vehicles parked and people in chairs at the very edge of the road. I rated the service as only 2 stars because our site (D54) had an error fault on our electrical management system for "reverse polarity" and I did not want to risk electrocution if true. A worker checked it out and said we had 120V so we were good to go, but he admitted to not knowing much about electricity. It was not repaired while we were there, so we went without power. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Actually snagged a cancellation somehow for an overnight stay in July. Absolutely beautiful state park. Way to go, Oregon! There are several loops and some of the campsites are larger than others. "E" loop had pretty small sites. "F" loop looked to have the largest sites. Regardless, a wonderful park and fantastic beach. Another reminder of how shameful the California parks have become. Stayed in a 24 ft. class c. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

June18 Nehalem Bay State Park, Oregon Coast 265 sites with electric, horse camp, $29 site B37 This is a typical Oregon State Park with water and electric, hot showers, dump station and recycling. It is on a split between the Bay and the Pacific with the mountains in the background. The Bay is good for crabbing, kayaking, crabbing, fishing and the ocean is great for swimming, fishing, surfing, kite flying and letting your pets run. The beach is about a quarter mile away from the campground and it is beautiful. There are some bike trails in the park and one into town. Nice park but very popular. It was full the night we spent there. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Motorhome.
