If you're looking for a paved parking lot with resort amenities, might as well quit reading now. If, however, you are looking for a real camping experience in beautiful, natural surroundings with full hookups and extraordinarily hospitable owners this might just be your place! Camping here is by reservation only, so call ahead! Cash or check payment only and no long-term rates. Well maintained and super clean! Lots of people come here to fish and there are plenty of birds to watch, too. I was sorry to have to leave so soon, but we will definitely be back! We camped at Umpqua Riverfront RV Park & Boat Ramp in a Fifth Wheel.

Umpqua Riverfront RV Park, owner at Umpqua Riverfront RV Park & Boat Ramp responded to this review

Thank you! I wish they put whole names so I could thank you in person when you come back. We do try very hard to make your stay warm, inviting and fun. The natural beauty here is definitely the draw though. We want the park to be as nice as possible but, by design, without the city electronic frills. We know that once you get disconnected you'll feel better than at any other park. Thank you again for your high rating and hope to see you again. Wayne

Overall Rating:

If traveling on I-5 in Oregon, it is worth it to drive 20 minutes west to this camp. We found it the perfect place to unplug, unwind, and reconnect. It is a serene and family friendly camping environment. All campsites are pull-through, facing the river, and shaded by mature, poplar trees that have been carefully pruned to accommodate the tallest rigs. Even on the hottest days a comfortable breeze came down the river gorge. Newly renovated laundry. Showers and bathrooms were nicely done and immaculate. A private, wheelchair accessible shower/bathroom is reserved solely for seniors and disabled persons. A stainless steel fish cleaning station and boat ramp make it easy for fishermen, and the owners came around every evening with complimentary ice. AT&T cell coverage was spotty with only one bar of 4G, but that is to be expected in the forest. Cable is also not available in the forest, but our satellite dish worked well. Being right on the river made swimming, tubing, fishing and kayaking easy and fun. We camped in a 40' fifth wheel with enough space for our RV, tent and tow vehicle. The sewer hookup was located at the extreme rear of the site which might be a problem for some. We had enough sewer hose, but the owners will loan sewer extensions if you need it. We definitely want to return to Umpqua Riverfront RV Park and Boat Ramp. We camped at Umpqua Riverfront RV Park & Boat Ramp in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This is not a resort with dozens of services, but the pristine environment and camping ambience definitely deserves a 9-10 excellent rating. Come prepared with supplies and groceries as there are no stores nearby.

Umpqua Riverfront RV Park, owner at Umpqua Riverfront RV Park & Boat Ramp responded to this review

Thank you for coming in and giving us a try, we were gratified you rated us so highly since we didn't have the internet or TV that you advised us you were used to. Your explanation of being full timers and desiring it was well received but we do, and did, clearly mention it on the phone to you when you asked about it and for your reservation thereafter. That info is also available in our ads and Facebook page. Once here though, you definitely saw specifically why we don't have them. Our beautiful riverfront forest location is surrounded by mountains and miles of rural farms. Those services literally don't exist on the 122 acre property or even the poles leading to it. We are a true RV campground that is also well shaded and due to those trees some spaces don't even get satellite views. In our book, that shading is a good thing. People come to us for nature and to experience it outdoors and we encourage that.

As we state in all our writings, our goal is to help you create wholesome old fashioned memories RVing and camping and our belief is TV and internet won't encourage that at our park. That can be done at home or in the city. I'm not knocking them for everyday living as you desire them as full-timers, but we're not a live-in park and would rather have those funds going into the new projects like the new dog park and cabins than wires on miles of poles that bring in those stresses.

People come here to get away from stress and work and sometimes (for most) being disconnected from those services without alternative is weird at first; and then, after just a few days, they love it and start to feel human again and truly relax and start to do things they haven't done in years.

We've all gotten so caught up in what we're told are modern life comforts that many have forgotten to walk and just breath in the fresh forest air when in one of the most beautiful locations in the country. We truly pride ourselves on trying to make you happy again, relaxed and see life through your own eyes again outdoors.

Money isn't where it's at for us-It's your experience that counts and we try exceptionally hard to focus on every customer to make them feel welcomed and serviced so they can relax. I'm sorry you missed your services out here but I've got to be honest with you and say they likely won't be here any time soon. The natural beauty and wonderful people who camp are why most come here. They make truly life-long memories. I'm sure you too remember the neighbors I was talking to when you walked into their camp and asked me again about tv and to advise me to widen the campground roads. Were they not some of the nicest people ever? Fantastic people who traveled two states in that giant RV (smaller than your's though, your's may be the biggest we've ever had) to give us a try. They're life long friends for sure to Cathy and I and just plain really nice people like so many are that stay here. It's weird at first to start to meet people again but when encouraged we find 99% have a great time and it adds to their experience.

I'm truly sorry you didn't find exactly what you desired here to earn a "10". You are literally the first and only person to not rate us highest on any scale on any site, but I do understand that TV is important to you so I can live with your rating for sure. I am quite happy with it.

Ratings can make or break a business these days and we do take any criticism or suggestions very seriously. With than in mind, I actually did spend a lot of time researching the road widths for you as you asked because you did state immediately upon approaching me for the first time that we "already lost our 10 rating because the roads are too narrow". So to be totally fair, I'd like to address that. After viewing the files and plans, then going out and physically measuring the roads, we found that the roads are, and were, fully engineered as directed by the County and inspected for width, grade and surface. I obtained a copy of the official building and plot plans for the the site and our current roads exceed those requirements.

Anyway, this was a pretty lengthy response to your rating but I thought it best that since you made it clear you were full timers and others would be bothered by these items too I should really look into them and respond in writing so all can made aware that we may not offer everything they desire. We are, very happily, a very secluded and clean, quiet, full hook-up park on the beautiful Umpqua river but definitely without cable or internet.

Thank you again for your very high rating and I hope you continue on your quest to seek out other highly rated parks for your well thought out and considered ratings.

Overall Rating:

Absolutely hate to rate this park because it is such a little gem. The park is a little dated, the owners bought this about 3 years ago, and are gradually improving and modernizing things. Normally I don't like parks whose sites are this close together and lack privacy, that being said. the clientele the owner caters too makes all the difference in the world. Without a doubt the quietest, most peaceful RV park I have ever been too. Not right off the freeway, so it is a destination, lots of fishing, some wine tasting, mostly peace and quiet. Good location for visiting the coast, (about an hour away), and still managing to avoid the crowds. Will definitely be back. We camped at Umpqua Riverfront RV Park & Boat Ramp in a Motorhome.

Umpqua Riverfront RV Park, owner at Umpqua Riverfront RV Park & Boat Ramp responded to this review

Thanks for the kind words. The park has come a very long way in only 2 and a half years. More new improvements are to come soon and will include a dog park, rebuilt shower building entry, a wider boat ramp and even a plan for you-pick vegetables in the farm! It's already the highest rated park in the area but it's going to get even better. We truly want our campers experience to be the best they've ever had at the most beautiful park they've ever been to...and without trouble makers. It's not the money and a full park we're after, it's happy, safe campers who make great family memories. It is our mission here and good families staying with us make that all possible. Thank you for being a part of it all. We truly appreciate your visit.

Beautiful, peaceful campground. All the camp sites are grassy and shaded, as well as pull thru, we never even unhooked! The restrooms/showers are new and very clean. Laundry room also very clean. We sat on the grass and watched bald eagles, ducks and egrets!! Our Verizon phone had one bar and our satellite worked well. We really enjoyed our stay and the owner made sure we had plenty of firewood for a campfire!! Thanks again - we'll be back again! We camped at Umpqua Riverfront RV Park & Boat Ramp in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent 3 days in this small, manicured park with a fantastic river view. We were surprised and very happy to find that they had a clean laundry room. The owner was exceptionally accommodating to our needs. Every site has a river view and we enjoyed watching various birds and the peace and quiet. My husband was able to launch his kayak from their boat ramp. We were here in May, so everything was green and beautiful. We will be back next year.
