Spaces too close together, too many people. Next to mobile home park which is a little run down. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Unusual place; a mix of good and annoying features. The good: clean asphalt sites separated by generous grassy areas with picnic tables, bathrooms clean and warm, lovely river walkway. The bad: unfriendly and very unhelpful office staff, very poor wifi, rigs back up to each other, train and airplane noise. The unusual: the RV sites are a small part of a very old mobile home park, some well maintained, some not. The most striking feature is the constant stream of airplanes gearing down to land at nearby Portland International; I'm talking major planes flying very low overhead. We were here for a single night stopover heading north on I-5 and actually would stay again for one night. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

We were thrilled to find this lovely rv park in an ideal setting close to Portland and Vancouver. It is well maintained and the staff went above and beyond in making our extended stay work without having to change sites. We had a wonderful time with the granddaughters in the HEATED pool, were able to go on good long walks with the dogs, reveled in the wonderful walking path along the Columbia River, used the nice laundry facilities, and had loads of patio and parking space for our rig and to vehicle! The noise of the airplanes taking off from PDX is strong some days (depending on flight path and weather) but you get used to it. Same with trains in the distance. The place has some long-time residents, but they mostly keep the place presentable. The accompanying manufactured home community has high end and not -so-high end homes but it was not a problem at all for us. This is the perfect rv setting for us with grown kids nearby so we feel that we now have a home base for several trips a year! We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

WOW! everything you could possibly need is a block or two away: Target with a great grocery store section and pharmacy, clothing stores, Michaels, Home Depot, eateries (fast food and restaurant), long term rv or boat storage, hair salons, Petco, Office store, Home Goods, Ross, etc. I-5 is just a few blocks away and it is 5 minutes to Vancouver and barely more to Portland!

This was a base camp while we toured the surrounding sites in and around Portland. Unfortunately we were not impressed. The campground is located West of the Portland airport so we experienced lots of jet noise not only from commercial aircraft but there must be a military base near by as fighter aircraft were also in the air. Campground is located in a busy part of town. We had road noise but Portland traffic to deal with.

Our site was rather small with about a 6' strip of grass between us and our neighbors on either side. Tight to back in. The back of our camp site faced a public street with no fence or other security separating the two. Water connection was partially buried. Site was level and paved. We did not use the pool. Restrooms and showers were clean and secured. On site laundry room was also clean. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

I have been full-timing for 16 years, with two to three one-week stays at this park each year. The park is as clean as it ever has been; the staff is friendly and helpful; and the location in/near a major city can not be beat. Safeway and Target are a mile or less away. Every time I pull into the park I am reminded that it is in the flight path of PDX airport with engines roaring overhead. But by the time I get settled in and ready for the first night's sleep, the jet noise has become a background disturbance that my mind ignores. This park truly is impacted by cars, jets, ships, and trains -- the sounds of an active community that provides unlimited opportunities to explore! We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

I like to hang out in the Alberta Street neighborhood with its many restaurants, coffee shops, food trucks and other unique businesses. It's about 6 miles from Jantzen Beach RV Park and has free street parking.

I need to preface this review by saying we stayed here the previous May and did not have the problems I am about to review.

We finished up a volunteer stint in eastern Washington 9/12 and planned to spend a few days in Portland with our daughter. Jantzen Beach is reasonably close to her. When we are traveling, we try not to disconnect the truck from our fifth wheel, so we always request a pull through and advise we need enough room for this. It was not a problem whe we stayed in May, although admittedly very tight.

When we arrived my husband went in to check in and looked at the map for the site we were assigned. He pointed out it was not the pull thru we needed. He was promptly advised specific types were not reservable. It had not been a problem in May when we requested the same thing. We went down and looked at the back in site and weren't sure we could even get our fiver in it. Back at the office, the manager told my hubby no one reserves specific site types. Being full timers that travel extensively, we know this is simply not true. We ended up leaving and stayed somewhere else. Luckily, they don't take a credit card up front, so we weren't charged. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is a mixture of long-term residents and short-term visitors. Kids enjoyed the heated pool and laundry was clean with multiple machines. Sites are gravel and paved with grass in between. Reasonably sized for a commercial campground. Landscaping was well taken care of. One benefit is that this is walkable distance to a shopping center with Target and several other chains, but unfortunately not a big grocery store. A bit noisy, like all urban campground, but if you are visiting the city, a good place to stay at a reasonable rate. Got 3 bars of Verizon cell and data service. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Verizon cell worked fine. Sprint Myfi worked fine. DirecTV worked at our site but some sites have trees that might block your signal. Overall we had a pleasant stay at this campground. The pools were nice and clean - understandably a bit crowded on a hot summer afternoon. Easy reservation process over the phone. Efficient check in. Friendly staff. Easy to find from freeway. Interior of park was easy to navigate in a big rig (we unhooked tow car at office). Park allows you to wash rig at site. All hook-ups worked perfectly. Sufficient room for 40' rig and tow car without feeling tight. Grassy area around the sites is nice for pets. The location to Portland is hard to beat. There are lots of stores and restaurants close by. A few negatives. 1. There is "normal" commercial plane noise from Portland Intl Airport which didn't bother us but might bother some. 2. There is military jet noise from Portland Intl Airport (the Natl Guard practices from there) and it is LOUD. We only noticed them flying during the day. It was fun to see them but you can't help but notice the thundering noise! 3. There are many long-time residents in the RV park and some of their sites aren't very tidy (but I wouldn't say they're "junky"). 4. The mobile home community adjacent to the property seems relatively safe but there are some sketchy houses with furniture/appliances in the front yards. Bottom line - we would stay here again if we need to be near the downtown Portland area. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Do the scenic drive to Vista House and Multnomah Falls area. Be prepared to do some walking/hiking. Wear appropriate clothes/shoes/sunscreen/hat and take plenty of water and nutrition. You might also pack a picnic. There are lots of nice spots along the drive to stop and enjoy the view while you eat lunch. Delicious food at Stanford's Restaurant & Bar (on Hayden Island Drive).

Large park with paved, level sites. Fairly roomy, considering how many spaces are located in this urban campground. Playground area and three swimming pools (wading depth for the kids), with an observer on hand most of the time. Camp staff very friendly and helpful. Drawback is the close proximity to both Interstate 5 at the interstate bridge, and the main feeder road from I-5 to the campground. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Portland, Oregon has something for everyone. We took the grandkids to Oaks Amusement Park, somewhat south of the city (the campground is on the north end), and ran into difficulty with all of the roadwork being done. Just be prepared to take a little longer in getting to your destination. Other great finds for the kids include the Portland Zoo, OMSI and the Portland Children's Museum.

Located just five minutes from Portland. Great friendly service, nice pool and landscaping throughout. There appears to be a large percentage of full timers, low income and workers using the park for it's close proximity to Portland. The layout is good but with so many full timers there are too many causally parked (stored) vehicles scattered in the streets making access a bit challenging. But for access to services, shopping and all Portland has to offer it's a nice park. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

On the take-off and landing path for the Portland Airport - noisy. Cable does not work unless you can adapt your tv to their comcast converter box and use the comcast remote. Wi-Fi is worthless - 100 feet away from the 'office' the signal is weak and intermittent - plus a lot of signing in must be done. Office staff are from Germany before the War and very defensive. Spaces are average/tight - only a few (8) are pull throughs. Price is about right for what you get - close in to Portland and the metro station. The actual Good Sam rate is $31.50. There is a pool and workout room. No camp fires. You step off your rig into grass/mud.

No pad. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Senior ticket price on the metro into Portland for an all day pass is $2.50 - good deal. Do the 'PODS' - a bunch of food trucks together in various places in the city. The food trucks are permanently placed. Prices are or the high side but reasonable for the experience.

We have stayed in this park every summer since 2007. Very clean and well maintained. Sites are tight because of the age of the park but do accommodate big rigs, all the time. Very convenient and right off of I-5 at the Columbia River. Full hook ups and no tents. Light Rail 1 stop away on I-5 to head into town - we visit Powell's Books every year! About 25% full timers but not an issue. Beautiful walk along the Columbia River and very convenient shopping/restaurant accessibility. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Campground nice enough for the area. Not many choices in Portland but this one serves the purpose for a couple of nights. All sites were level concrete surrounded by grass. Has an area that has a lot of permanent to semi-permanent residents, but the area we were in, was all short term. Easy access from I-5. Located in flight path of Portland airport, and, not sure why, but the noise is mainly evenings and early morning, but it can be deafening at times. Wi-Fi is very good and cable service through XFInity is good, but TV is almost useless in the evening due to the aircraft noise. Get the cable box from office. The woman in the office is very efficient and helpful. There is a seasonal swimming pool. The bathrooms and showers are very clean and the whole park is well maintained. We parked in a truck camper so we had plenty of room. There were class A motorhomes and they were parked rear to rear. Plenty of space for slideouts awnings. The freeway (I-5) is very congested and since you are on a small island is the only way to get into Portland. It is particularly congested during rush hour. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

The island has a shopping center with Target and a number of other stores. There are plenty of dining choices on the island as well as a Safeway and Rite Aid. You are very close to downtown but the downtown area is not car friendly. Don't even think about taking your rig down there. Best to park at one of the outlying park-and-rides and take the rail or bus, as public transportation is abundant and includes pedicabs and even an aerial tram.
