Super nice people! We had a tire blow en route and had to call them several times to tell them we would be late, then to get directions (in the dark). Once there, they walked me in the dark with a flashlight to show us a spot. Nice cafe & store, they even have a gas station! They are located well off the beaten path by the Wild Life Refuge (why I picked this place) but, unfortunately, it seems I picked the wrong time of the year to visit...cold and windy and the birds have all gone and the winter ones haven't arrived yet! The sites are nicely appointed with a cement patio, table a fireplace and a BBQ stand. All level gravel pull-thrus, plenty long enough to not have to unhook if you don't need to. Cable was ok and their WiFi was ok, but only had 1 bar on my phone...like I said, we are way out in the middle of nowhere here! We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Malhur Wildlife Refuge is right next door, and if you come in the spring or summer it's really worth the drive through it! You can pick up their CD auto tour at most stops and have it to learn as you drive, just be prepared for the "washboard" gravel road!

This park would rate a solid 8 in an urban area. But being in the middle of nowhere, this is a 10. Excellent park with small, but nice, pull-thru sites. Nice lounge and restaurant (food is fine, but not great). Great location if your are touring the area. We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Great park in a perfect location between Steens Mountain and Burns. Easy to maneuver and very good hookups. Would certainly stay here again when in the area. Lady who checked us in was very helpful and had good info about the area. Gas, diesel and propane available. We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park in the middle of nowhere! The owners have put a lot of time into making this a great park. There are small shade trees at every site but the sites are narrow enough it was difficult to use our awnings because of the trees. The restaurant and store are very clean and up to date. Food was good and priced well given the location. We would have stayed longer if the mosquitos hadn't driven us out!! Showers and bathrooms were very clean but lacked soap for washing up. You have to pay for showers at $2 for 4 minutes if you choose to use them. We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Malheur Refuge and the Steen Mountains for sure. Beware of bugs because you are near a water source that breeds mosquitoes. If you are planning to do the Steen Mountain loop check to make sure it is open all the way if you go in June. A section was closed when were there in late June.

Our club has been coming here for years and probably will continue to do so. If you have an organization that needs a great gathering spot this it. They provide us with served and delicious food on top of the unique Steens desert experience. Each night we had an evening fire at the communal fire pit. Just a overall great place to stay. We have stayed many times and this time the internet did not work well. The staff was "crispy" with us but they are very busy with antelope hunters this week; the Malheur Refuge was closed since the occupation due to damage we understand. That is so sad. We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We came to this remote (about 25 miles south of Burns) location because of its proximity to Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and Steens Mountain. The park is big-rig friendly and well laid out with ample space between sites and each site has a little shade from planted shrubs. All the roads are gravel and each site has a nice pad with picnic table and an elevated fire pit. These pads are a bit too far forward to be adjacent to doors/awnings on most RVs but that's not a big deal. You can get gas and diesel here, but expect to pay more (currently 24% more for diesel) than in Burns. The staff (which also operates an on-site restaurant and small store) was very friendly and helpful. The private restrooms/showers were very clean and well stocked and prices at the nice laundromat were very reasonable. There's a nice grassy area where dogs are apparently allowed (despite the sign) as long as their owners pick up after them. The price reflects Passport America rates for which there are no day-of-week or length-of-stay restrictions, which is unusual but much appreciated! We would definitely stay here again. We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The refuge still hast opened since it occupation this past winter, but you can drive many of the roads. The park owners have planted lots of fruiting shrubs that attract American Pipits, Robins, etc. About a dozen Common Nighthawks roost throughout the park. Steens Mountain scenic loop to the south is worth the long, dusty drive; the views from there are great! We saw lots of wildlife there including two herds of wild horses.

We really enjoyed our stay at this very quiet, nicely laid out park. Nice landscaping that attracted lots of birds. Very close to Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Sites are long and level with a concrete patio, a fire pit, and picnic table. There is an onsite cafe and store as well as a laundromat. My only 'ding' to keep this park from being a 10 is the relatively long distance to Burns for grocery shopping and fuel. Although fuel is sold at the park, it is much more expensive than in Burns. We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Laundromat is small but nice and clean. $1.50 per washer, $1.50 per dryer. Cafe food is a bit pricey, but tasty! This park would not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you like quiet and are interested in the wildlife refuge and surrounding attractions such as Frenchglen and Steen's Mountain, it's a perfect little gem.

Rate is Passport America. Large, open park with long, level gravel pull-thrus. Each site has a patio, table, grill table, and fire ring, and a small tree, all convenient to the front of the RV. Good hookups, but WiFi didn't work during our stay. Cable TV was good, and Verizon cell/4G were slow due to the remote location. Convenient to the wildlife refuge and Steens Mountain, but not much in the area. On-site restaurant was open seven days a week along with small store. Nice stay at the PA rate but not at the full rate. We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Motorhome.

Malheur Wildlife Refuge is one of the premier birding locations in the US, but bring plenty of mosquito repellant. The Steens Mountain scenic loop is surprisingly scenic and shouldn't be missed.

This is a very well run, clean RV park near Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. We stayed 5 nights to do some 'birding' and explore southeast Oregon. Not fancy, but good size level gravel sites with good 50 amp service, water and sewer. It was quiet at night and we felt safe. We will be back to visit this interesting part of Oregon again. The drive to Fields, OR and the Alvord Desert was very interesting. Only drawback was the fuel cost at the Narrows was high for the area.

Sites are level gravel, with a brick patio, large picnic table, metal grill stand and shade tree. This is a great camp to explore the wildlife and natural areas around. Buy groceries before you get here, nearest town (Burns) is almost 30 miles away. We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Motorhome.
