Overall Rating:

This is our third stay here and we keep coming back because it is a very convenient and well kept place to stay in the area. The sites are narrow but they are separated by enough grass to not feel like you are in your neighbor's lap. Most are pull thrus with some back in sites and tent sites. The grounds are very well tended and the restrooms and showers are always very clean with plenty of hot water and good pressure. Utilities work fine. And, they now have a laundry in a very nice building with a community room. The washers are small and at $3.00 I feel they are overpriced and the dryers are also $3.00 which means that if you only need a few more minutes to finish something off you have to fork over $3.00 more. It's all new and very clean and pleasant and there's a folding table and even and ironing board and iron, but for that price I would probably investigate whether there is a more affordable laundromat in town. Still, it's there and it's convenient. Right now it's just quarters but they are supposedly installing a card reader soon. Verizon service was fine. They supposedly have wi-fi, but it didn't work most of the time like in most RV parks. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is based on weekly stay. Unlike most fairgrounds, the park is separated from the fair area and has ample grass and trees. Access and signage is very good, just a short distance from the downtown area. Interior roads are paved and surprisingly wide, while sites are also paved, are long and fairly level, but are just wide enough for your vehicle. Sewer is at the far rear, so if you leave a tow vehicle attached you'll need a long sewer hose. Stepping out means stepping on grass, and if the adjacent site is occupied by an RV with slides, you'll be very close together. Park WiFi was not working during our visit, but Verizon cell/data were very good. No cable TV, but OTA had a few channels and there were no obstructions to satellites. Check in was with a friendly lady who will share local information and provide maps. Quiet and dark at night, although there is some noise from early morning residents going to work. A convenient, clean park - we'll stay here again. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Prineville is an interesting little town with a good museum, ample shopping, and some very good restaurants. The memorial for the Prineville "hotshots" killed during a fire in Colorado is in the park and worth a visit. An easy day trip to the John Day fossil beds and the extraordinary Painted Hills.

Overall Rating:

We stayed 3 nights here & were pleasantly surprised. Since this is part of the fairground and is county operated we expected a dirt lot. Instead we had a gravel pull through with grass & trees. People were very friendly and helpful even though the campground was at max capacity. Our spot was big enough for our truck, 5th wheel, & a friend's car who camped with us at no extra charge. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Long pull thrus on most sites, but they are fixing that on the north side of the park by adding a gravel extension so you don't step out on the wet grass. Lanes are easy to get into and out of, for entering camp site. One bathroom for entire park, which could be a problem. Some long termers but very few. Dog area extends around entire outside of park (not fenced) with lots of bags and little trash cans available. The only complaint is that you have to carry your trash into a gated area which is a little difficult. I wish there were trash cans in the park to use. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Motorhome.

If there's a fair going on, it would be wild but since there wasn't, it was quiet and calm here. My only issue was the wifi. It just didn't work. We could see the antenna but NO service. We brought it to their attention and they reportedly rebooted, but still zippo. Other issue, they need to print a channel guide. I know it's minor but an inconvenience. That said, we'd stay again. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is an ok place to stay and pretty much the only place with hookups in the area in winter when the parks that are on the reservoir are closed so it's useful if you are travelling through. The spaces consist of a narrow strip of asphalt with a strip of grass next to it and a picnic table. The lengths vary with most being long enough for a big rig. There are mostly pull thrus but there are some back in sites where you back up to another rig. The sites are very narrow, barely wide enough for our dually, and the neighbors are quite close. Not much privacy. It is clean and well kept and quiet though. It was pretty full when we were there and it looked like there were many long term residents although all the sites were tidy. There was no water to the sites because of problems with the cold (per the manager). There was no discount, though, which I thought was a bit of a rip off. There is a water fill station and dump station even though the sites are FHU. They have basic cable but we don't do tv so can't comment. The wi-fi was useless. Could connect, but no internet. Only stayed overnight so didn't care enough to ask at the office about the problem. Verizon signal was strong, though. The restroom was bright, clean, modern, and spacious. The shower stalls were on the small size, but otherwise just fine. Didn't use so can't comment further. Would stay again if only passing through but would prefer to stay on the lake if the parks there were open. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Truck Camper.

This is a serviceable RV park next to a Fairgrounds just outside Prineville, OR. Neat and clean, well-maintained. Hookups are good, you can choose between 50 amp or 30 amp, just a few dollars difference. Office staff was very helpful and friendly. Great for dogs, as there are pick-up bags at two locations, and gates into the fairgrounds for walking or running dogs. Spacing was okay, with grass between, and a good picnic table at each spot. No complaints at all. Not beautiful, but a good value. Quiet. I plan to stay here again, as we travel back and forth. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Price is for 30 amp, without tax. This is a very well kept park. Each space has a small strip of lawn. Hostess was very nice and put us in a site where we could use our satellite dish as we requested. They have cable TV and Wi-Fi. It is very quiet and pet friendly. Shopping and fuel are nearby. We would come here again if in the area. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very clean, paved, level sites. Good showers, clean restrooms. There's a K9 Coral across the road, a large fenced dog park which was also very clean. This RV park is next to the fairgrounds and probably pretty busy during events season. We found this park to be superior to any of the others in the area, including the state parks. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a large county park situated next to their fair grounds. Easy to find with large pull-through sites and full hookups including cable and Wi-Fi. Green grass and trees at every site. Pet friendly with doggie waste bags placed around the perimeter of the park and a fenced off-leash area just across the street. Friendly staff and the park is within walking distance of town. Would stay here again. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Motorhome.

Our asphalt pull-through site was level and long enough for our 40 ft motor home and toad. The site was a bit narrow, but there was room to put out all our slides. Hookups were somewhat inconveniently placed towards the rear of the site. The campground was clean and well maintained. Office staff were friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi was adequate but dropped out occasionally. Fair to good Verizon signal. Cable was adequate. Tall trees at the front of many sites could block satellite dishes but we were able to position our motor home to get a good signal. The campground fills up fast when there are local events so check ahead of time and get a reservation. We liked this campground a lot and would stay here again. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Motorhome.

I highly recommend this publicly-operated park. It has a manager who considers it to be “her park” and oversees it and its occupants with a great deal of caring. The facility is well maintained with workers constantly present. The sites are narrow but of sufficient length for large rigs. It can be somewhat noisy due to a heavily used adjacent city street. Traffic on this road decreases markedly after 9:00 PM. Redmond and Bend are ½ hour away making this a great spot to base while exploring Oregon’s high desert region. The park offers very basic cable consisting of the major networks. The Wi-Fi service is very good. It wasn’t working when I arrived due to an antenna problem, but the manager saw that it was fixed in short order. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Well run, very quiet, RV park. Adjacent to the County Fairgrounds via a mutual gate from the RV park. Bathrooms are clean, but very under-vented so very humid inside. Also, shower stalls are small and the shower heads hard to direct away from your face and great care must be taken to not flood the small dressing area just outside the stall. Not possible with the handicap stall, just wear flip-flops is the best advise. The park is very well shaded with mature trees and the spaces are very adequate, each with an individual picnic table though they seem to mostly need a new paint job as they are peeling. Each space has grass which is well watered on timers and cut regularly by staff. WiFi works fine. Just a short drive up the street to the middle of town and several restaurants on Main street. One supermarket in town (Rays) down at the east end along with a decent laundromat and a Rite Aid. This really is a decent little town to visit. We camped at Crook County RV Park in a Motorhome.
