25 Parks near South Beach, Oregon
Sep 2016 - $55.00
This is a membership park and run a little differently than what we are use to. We did have a reservation but found out we did not have a site assigned. We checked in and the ranger was not very welcoming. Handed us a sheet and told us to drive in and find a site, there are plenty to choose from, pick one, fill out the sheet, and return it to him. Well, not very many sites were left, especially ones that would fit our 5th wheel. We chose one that was dug into a hill just wide and long enough for the camper. Really tight.
We also had rain one night, mud all over the place. Not a place that we would go to again, let alone become members of. - John Borajkiewicz

Overall an enjoyable park to stay in with pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horse shoes, etc. Great location and nice concrete pads with cable, but most are tightly packed together and the road is tight to maneuver into spots.
The park itself is split into 2 divided by SE 123rd Street. You check in on the South Side where they give you a map with all the sites including length and satellite access. The South side of the Park is a long one-way road with camping spots on either side dumping out onto 123rd a bit farther East. The South Side of the Park has a dog run, Frisbee golf, family lounge, pool, hot tub (small), horse shoes, and beach access.
You can cross the street where the one-way ends, to enter the North side where there are several more spots and an adult lounge with shuffleboard and tv. - Bay Area Early retirees

DO NOT STAY HERE!! Pictures taken at Whalers Rest, Newport Oregon, a Thousand Trails RV Park. This is RAW sewage on the ground. You can see the site next to you. Has a septic line right by your front door. NO way to sit out in the extra small postage stamp of grass with the smell of septic. We complained 2 days straight, on the 3rd day I went to the office to see the manager. Upon my open complaint of "crap" in the yard, we were asked to leave for cursing at the staff. We are reporting to Health Department. We were leaving the next morning, but with this event demanded a full refund which they gave us.
There is NO WiFi at this park unless you want to go sit in their club house computer room. The cable TV that hardly worked was $3.00 a day extra. No cell phone service. The pool had crabs, my husband took out two crab shells, legs and claws. The walk around the indoor pool was narrow and slippery, dangerous for young children. The hot tub seats 4 people & had an odor. Playground was in poor condition. Many unkept trailers, Looks like they've been parked for years. - Magicalwoman

We spent a total of 10 days in this Oregon State park in three different sites. This is a really large, very popular park. If you enjoy peace and quiet, don't even think about coming here on a weekend during summer months, or, God forbid, a holiday weekend....it is ugly! During the week, it is actually a pretty plesant place to stay. Easy access (mostly paved paths) to the wonderful dog friendly beach which is a few miles long. Friendly hosts, volunteers, and Rangers do a good job keeping the park clean and tree branches trimmed for (the most part) to make it a big rig friendly park. Pruning shears may be needed at a few sites. Easy walking distance to the beach, jetty, pier, brewery, and harbor. If you like beaches, you can easily spend several relaxing hours walking the beach (low tide is best). The main road to each of the loops can be a bit busy with cars and walkers but has the easiest access for backing into your site. Most any outside loop sites are big rig friendly with 45 degree back in angles. The inside sites are at 90 degrees and much shorter. Our favorite loop is the G loop (F is our second), as long as you get an outside loop spot. While a bit further from the beach, you do get some much larger sites with some privacy between them. Our G9 spot, while pretty, was a bit hairy getting into with our 43' rig, but this looked to be the worst in the loop. Two of our sites had satellite reception, G9 did not due to trees. Very good Verizon coverage. - Jerry and Betsy
Aug 2016 - $37.00
We were last minute so we didn't have a big choice of sites. We ended up on the entrance road across from the comp hosts. That considered, we ere not disturbed by the road. This park has great access to the beach and plenty of shade. Flat sites and nice spacing. - Cc rambler
Aug 2016 - $25.00
The setting of this park is great, with plenty of well kept walking and biking paths to the ocean, the jetty, and even to the Rogue Brewery. The sites are roomy, but in late August all was dry and dusty, and there isn't much in the way of planting between the sites so there is no privacy. The public areas were clean and fairly quiet and relaxed, even with hundreds of campsites that were all full. Plenty of camp hosts to help if needed. - sail2blue
Aug 2016 - $32.00
Pulled in here looking for one night close to the bay. This is almost all long term residents in run down units. Would not return. - Cc rambler
Sep 2012 - $33.00
If you like crabbing and/or fishing, this is the place to go. Newport is fairly close. Very run down, gravel road in park. Staff helpful. Fire rings available in sites. Cell reception/WiFi excellent. - tudugger
Jun 2010 - $35.00
Rustic describes the park if you are site 1-12; very poor if you are in the other sites. They are more like a storage lot. Our site had 50-amp FHU but some have 30-amp in this area. We faced the river 20' away. Fire ring, cable at site. Road is approx 50' behind the rig. Almost no traffic on the road that follows the river bank 4 miles from town. Office and other guests extremely friendly. Nightly rate over priced for the facility and distance to town. Sites are rather close. Would return if in the area. If you have a boat and want to fish they are equipped for your visit. - Workamper04
Sep 2016 - $33.00
Says there are about 144 sites. What they don't say is that 52 sites are in "the annex". No tables. For "annex" with 52 sites there are exactly two (2) restrooms, both with showers, so if you just need a quick bathroom, good luck. No Good Sam discounts for The Annex, either. Laundry is on main site 1/4 mile away. Fairly clean, bathrooms very old. Sites ok. Located almost under the bridge, lots of traffic noise. WiFi would not connect over three days with several of our devices. - Jenna69
Sep 2016 - $40.00
Very nice park , clean , quiet , lots to do and see in the area . Two week stay in 5th wheel . Site size good . Friendly staff . Look forward to staying here again . - scotwil50
Sep 2016 - $35.00
Add the city tax to your bill and it comes to $39.00 per nite. A little high for this park as there are no amenities to speak of. Laundry room is great. 7 washers and 7 dryers (2 out of order). They could do a better job of policing the area. Lots of small pieces of paper and wrappers in the foliage at most every site. Water pressure is grand. 60 psi no problem. Pretty quiet park considering the number of fishermen and dogs here. Stayed 3 days. Beautiful location close to aquarium and old town. Would probably stay here again considering the other RV parks at the coast. - A Wedding
Oct 2016 - $38.00
We had a very pleasant stay in Site 42 with a view of the ocean. Traffic noise was not bad even though it was next to the highway.
The office staff and camp hosts are friendly and helpful. Great place to enjoy the coastal scenery both north and south. WiFi was great and always worked. Our 50amp plug in was actually through the hedge and in the next site but it worked fine. - houseonwheels
Oct 2016 - $15.00
The view from our site was one of the best views from a site we have ever had. We had a view of the waves crashing onto the rocks. We were in site 10 which has the view and a great picnic / firepit area. The only issue is getting the fifth wheel into the site. It is a steep site and it to a little maneuvering to line up the rig into the site, and because of the slope and days of rain, I had to slip into 4 wheel drive to back it in. The exit is just as hard as the exit is right next to the site but too tight to turn right out of the site. But it was worth if for the view. Except for this, the park was very nice. The park hosts are very nice and helpful. There is a dog walk area although not a fenced in dog park. WiFi was up and down, the cable TV worked fine. - akeller156
Sep 2016 - $38.00
This is a beautiful RV park directly across from the ocean. We stayed in space # 39, which was great. We had a view of the ocean and could watch the waves crashing against the rocks that evening. Restrooms are clean, shower is private, lots of hot water and very clean. We went for a walk to the beach the next morning, just beautiful! I would recommend this RV park to everyone that loves the ocean! - TomSandyG
Aug 2016 - $40.00
This park is almost entirely long term residents. Facilities are pretty run down. Convenient to the Embarcadero. - Cc rambler
Jul 2016 - $37.00
Nice clean modern campground. Level lots. Close to the Aquarium.
Internet came and went. Cable tv was fine. We were happy with our stay and would stay here again. Bike paths were nearby. - Sir_Charles395
Sep 2013 - $36.00
Spaces are very close together and unlevel. No view of water but close to the marina in Newport. Won't be staying here again. - ckharvey
Jul 2016 - $55.00
We stayed here 3 nights. This is a nice RV park that has a trail down to the river. We watched the sea lions and some loons in the water. Laundry facilities and showers were nice. Each shower area was actually its own little room with toilet, sink & shower. The doors need some mechanism to show when occupied, but otherwise very nice & clean. Would definitely stay again. - jmholton
Jul 2016 - $50.00
We stayed for 5 days. Well maintained and staffed campground. Store was well supplied. Great views of Alsea Bay, Bridge, and Waldport from southern sites. Hedges separate sites from one another and give moderate privacy. Had to disconnect truck from trailer and park sideways at front of site - no problem since we planned to sightsee anyway. Would stay here again. - phann
Jun 2016 - $50.00
Spaces were all a bit too tight and moving around with a motorhome was challenging, but not impossible. The staff was super friendly and the store had a reasonable and neat supply of possible necessities. There were nice hedges to block out the neighbors; a little too tight for comfort. Main objection for big rigs is that the sewer pipes are too high and when the rig lowers, there is a reverse drainage to the motorhome, making hooking up and emptying not pleasant. There are 6 sites facing the river that are to die for, so ask for them. - DustyBob
Oct 2016 - $35.00
First thing: The lady in the office could do with some customer service lessons not at all friendly, the first rule on their list says' Frowns not allowed' maybe she needs to read that rule, the next problem was she sent us to site and when we got their was already some one it so went back to office and said to her there was someone on it she said no way and was making me feel like I was lying until another lady went out and checked and YES there was some one on it and then was more worried about who was on it then finding us another site after 15 minutes finally got a site. You have to pay for showers which was a shock after paying $35a night. The concrete site was good especially with all the rain we got there that day and night. - gray nomad
Aug 2016 - $35.00
Nice neat park, but sites are a little tight. Not any room between them either, and since the whole park is basically a concrete parking lot, there is no vegetation separating the sites either, except for a few sparse plantings of sea oats. Our slides extended were literally 4 feet from our neighbors slides. We were fortunate enough however to have a site overlooking Alsea bay, so we didn't have any back neighbors. Office staff wasn't the friendliest we ever dealt with which was a little disappointing since they are the key to your first impression. The park is on Highway 34 which is very busy with all sorts of commercial vehicles as well as normal every day drivers. It's noisy at times, so try to get a site closer to the office which is further from the road and preferably overlooking the bay. Unfortunately, a night before we departed, our neighbor came over to tell us that 4 of the guests had gas cans stolen during the night from their site. Very upsetting to say the least. - Rick Frazier
Aug 2016 - $35.00
Good campground, water view. Clean and electric, water pressure and cable all worked great. - snrstang

Sep 2016 - $109.00
A very nice coach resort, with a wonderful few over the pacific and a direct access to the beach.
The sides are big enough for any size of motor coach and the wide streets makes it easy to get in and out.
The reason why 8 instead of 10 points is that for this price I missed wifi, HD channels and more showers & restrooms. - Columbus
Sep 2016 - $130.00
Absolutely beautiful! Our site (#141) was a pull-in overlooking the ocean. View of the lighthouse out our front window. Nicely landscaped lot with a wind screen (which is needed), concrete patio. The park is well maintained, personnel were friendly, sites are large with lots of grass, roads are easy to maneuver. Private beach. A gorgeous setting. - Freedom Bus
Sep 2016 - $66.00
This is a resort for class A and C motor homes only and the length has to be at least 25ft. The resort is very clean and the staff if very friendly. The resort is on the ocean but only a few sites have ocean view, the majority has non and the view is as in any other resort: you're looking at your neighbours motor home. Furthermore there are two swimming pools with hot tubs and the inside pool has also a sauna.
There is quit a bit of noise caused by the highway and during the day there's also noise from workers at the resort, like pressure washing one RV pad for 5 hours (it was ridiculous). Altogether I find the resort over priced for what they are offering. - henny04
Aug 2016 - $32.00
Rate quoted is based on weekly rate. This is a small RV park (fewer than 15 sites) wedged in between a local street and a rock bluff. But it's in a great location for exploring the area. Most sites are occupied by older seasonal or permanent units though they keep things reasonably tidy. Manager was very accommodating and friendly. He also manages the car wash that is at the north end of the property so he's on-site during business hours. Our site was adequate size for our 36-ft fifth wheel and medium-duty tow vehicle. 50 Amp power was good, WiFi okay for e-mail and light web surfing - forget streaming. Verizon signal not strong but usable. - GypsiesAtHeart
Sep 2014 - $29.00
Not much to look at, but great for an overnighter to look at the whales. Wifi weak at night, but strong in am, close to food. Would stay here again. - Jim Lee
