Overall Rating:

This is a very quiet, small, older campground that has been well cared for. It is located in a heavily forested area which is great for keeping the temps cooler in the summer. The upper area near the entrance that has 7 full service sites and one with just W/E. All are relatively flat and range in length from 40 to 56 feet. The lower area has mostly tent sites with a few W/E sites, 2 small log cabins, Yurts and Deluxe Yurts. Showers and restrooms are located in the lower area and if you are in that area its great. If you are in the upper are you have to walk - down if fine but the walk up will definitely increase your heart rate. The centrally located trash bin is half way between the two areas. The Park Rangers and Hosts were all very pleasant and eager to answer any questions. Sites were tidied up quickly after campers left and the rest rooms and showers were cleaned daily. The only negative for us is that the water pressure in the upper area was VERY low. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Grocery shopping in Winchester Bay in very limited, but Reedsport is just a few miles away. There is a Safeway and McKays Market. We shopped both and would recommend McKays for their selection, pricing, and very friendly staff. We had lunch at Harbor Light Family Restaurant and the found service, menu selections excellent.

Actually did not stay here for several reasons. After our experience being unable to get into a site at Sunset Bay State Park we drove the few miles north to check out our reserved site at this park. Again it was very tight with a lot of trees but we could have gotten into our site relatively easily. However, 10 night reservation w/o a full hook-up, shower room quite far away with no parking area, meaning a walk to get there, and no dump station worked against it. Add lack of sat service due to heavy tree cover and we decided to cancel our reservation and go to Winchester Bay RV Resort in Coos Bay. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were supposed to go farther south, and decided to stop earlier due to darkness and general tiredness. We drove into the park around 7 pm, and were met by a friendly host. He showed us the good campsites he thought were still available. Was quite open to answering anymore questions. We found the site easily. The campground is clean, and the showers hot. There is a beautiful one mile walk around the nearby lake. We saw rangers/volunteers active in the campground and lake during our one night stay. The campground was quiet. We did have a racoon get into our cooler, so you should make sure to have your food safely stowed in the car or trailer. The raccoon wasn't too thrilled it was only spinach, and left the bag torn and full. We would certainly stop here again!! We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice little park in a heavily wooded area. It's about a quarter mile off US-101. There's an upper set of sites on either side of the loop road. Except for one, they were full hookups. Further down the hill is a bigger loop with a mixture of yurts, full hookup (1), W&E, and non-hookup sites. The length of sites range from 38' to 56'. These sites were decent for privacy even though this park has close sites: 2, 5, 7, 9, 40, 45, 48, 54. #2 where we stayed was across from the registration both. We arrived without reservations on a Sunday at 2pm in the middle of August. They had several sites available but were full by 5pm. The registration person/host was especially friendly and came out to greet us when we stopped at the registration area. She told us exactly what sites were available. There is an easy trail around Lake Marie. It's scenic and only a mile walk. You can either walk up or drive up a quarter mile to the lighthouse. There you get a view of the ocean and can visit the museum and gift shop. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

The spaces are in the forest so it was a cool respite from the heat of the summer. Kids rode bikes and had a great time. We stayed in a tent site so the fee was less. $29 for electric/water sites $19 for tents. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

50 sites but 10 are yurts, $26. Twelve Sites with full hookups, 8 water & electric, and 23 basic sites. Site 39 This is a very nice state park off of 101 but easily missed. The campground has one loop with nice sites but some are not level. Some sites overlook Lake Marie, a small lake surrounded by the woods and dunes. There is a mile trail around the lake and a small beach. One can canoe and fish in the lake. The bathhouse is clean with showers. We were there during the week and it was not full but I imagine on a weekend it fills up since they do take reservations. No dump station at this park. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is just before you head up the hill to the Umpqua River Lighthouse, which is a working lighthouse with a coast guard station there. Visiting the lighthouse is also a great place to see the whale migration twice a year. Over 15,000 reported. Heading down away from the campground you go by beaches and the bay which your state park pass gets you into. This campground is at the halfway mark of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area which stretches 47 miles from Florence to Coos Bay. At the lookout near the lighthouse you can see in front of you the ocean, dunes and hear the ATVs. It is beautiful.

A very nice, older park with a mix of full hookup; water & power; and no services sites. All driveways are paved. Leveling can be an issue in some of the smaller sites. Most larger sites are heavily shaded. Bathrooms and showers are older but very clean. The park is popular with tent campers and smaller RV's. Sites for 40' RV's are limited and some have tight access due to mature trees. Good AT&T service; spotty Verizon service. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Reedsport about 4 miles away, has a small Safeway, hardware store, and limited services. North Bend is major shopping area, about 20 miles south.

Double D's, Kitties and Bedrocks do reliable food in their respective genres. Fresh oysters and fish are readily available.

Umpqua Lighthouse and Museum, Heceta Light, Sealion Caves and Coos Bay Museum are all worth seeing.

Quiet campground, tucked away in the woods just between Highway 101 and the Umpqua River Lighthouse. Rate is for a dry site (paved). Ours was not level and all others looked sloped as well. Enough space between sites and some greenery made for good privacy. Water taps along the road through. Quite a few generators were running outside permitted hours including one on the camphost site. Once those were all shut down it was very quiet. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Truck Camper.

Beautiful park. Spacious sites and well maintained. Nice hosts! Convenient location but not adjacent to ocean or bay. Does have a small fresh water lake with hiking paths and small beach area. Nice for kyacking! Forest area so satelite TV service is tricky!! We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

Just did not care for this campground. Camp hosts not all that helpful or friendly and mostly sold wood. Information said site would accommodate a 40 foot motor home but we had to rearrange and move the coach our second day there in order to park car so it would not be on tree roots. Very dense trees coverage so no satellite. Nice hike around the lake and other campers were friendly so our stay was fine. Just probably wouldn't do it again there. Oregon has a lot of nice state parks. We went through a number of campgrounds on day trips from there and would pick another one next time. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

Convenient for exploring the lower Oregon Coast. Lots of trees so no satellite signal and weak Verizon signal. Tight, mostly level site. Clean site. Rate reflects outrageous Reserve America fee which is $8 per reservation. Great tour at the nearby lighthouse. Elk viewing sight east of Winchester Bay had a HUGE number of elk at sundown. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful State Park, however, it has not been upgraded since it was built. The location is great, so close to the coast and the Umpqua lighthouse, but the facilities are dated. The hosts are friendly and helpful, but we really had problems with the sewer connections and never really got a tight fit even with much trying and host help. Some of the sites are pretty shaded and can be a bit dark especially during the frequent local rains. It is nice to have campfires and we will return again only for a shorter stay. We stayed for 2 weeks and one would have been perfect. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Park was nice and well maintained. The hosts were very helpful. But as with state campgrounds there are campfires. They were not to bad but we needed a place for the night and this was almost a last resort. The lighthouse on the property was neat and a historical monument and still working. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

We had great memories of walking from the park to the beach through wonderful dunes when we visited here 25 years ago. We were stunned when we looked across the dunes from the viewpoint at the lighthouse. The former dune area looked like a vast sand parking lot, flattened by all the ATV usage. However, at dusk, standing on the campground trail overlooking the dunes, with no ATV's in sight the softly rolling dunes still had a magic appeal. The small campground is cozily nestled between hills with a short walk to the very attractive lake. There are campsites at the top of the hill but we prefer the sites in the valley. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice, quiet, small campground. A nice trail around the lake for walking the dogs. Right down the road is a wonderful view over looking the dunes and ocean. Enjoyed the food in Winchester Bay. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.
