This was a nice park. The sites were reasonably spaced and generally level. We had fair cell phone reception with Verizon and good OTA TV (out of Pittsburgh). As others have mentioned, there was a bit of noise from the air traffic headed into Pittsburgh, but it was not terribly intrusive. We found lots of good hiking here (especially in the Wildflower Reserve area) and the trails were interesting. The trail from the campground to the beach was pretty steep, so we turned back on that one. Our site (E08) was good and, after walking the campground several times, thought that others would have been better. Sites E01, E02, E14, and E30 all looked good - a little more suited for our 30 foot trailer. A01, A12, B10, B16, and F35 were also a good fit. The best place to get water is just as you enter section F directly across from F01. We enjoyed our stay here and plan to return again. - Capt Gerry

An aging park for sure - narrow roads throughout, but not a problem if you know what you're doing. The website lists the "maximum RV length" as very short, but I have a 26 foot TT and backed clear up to the wheels hit the curb in the site, and had no problem once I was unhooked. Very nice park, would stay here again in a second. The only real negative that I can say about the park is it's proximity to Pittsburgh Intl Airport, I love watching planes though, so it wasn't a problem for me! The other thing is that the "playground" for the kids is a sorry excuse for a playground. In all though, a nice park. - brian19889

Camped here many times - always F loop for dog. Bathroom cleaned twice a day, older military style fixtures and skylights to keep costs down but clean and efficient restrooms and showers conveniently located. Dishwashing stations are great. This is a great park for tents, tent pop ups and smaller travel trailers. Sites are not level and pads are small but plenty of room between sites. Great hiking trails and nice lake to swim in. Very quiet, wooded sites but airport is close by. Jets didnt bother us. Weekend movies and shows for kids and playgrounds. Walking paths for dogs. No sewer or water at site but dump station clean and easy to access. Potable water is from springs and makes the best coffee! Verizon phone limited, T-mobile not at all. Several digital TV stations near by. Senior discount and a few ADA sites. - tomas_grupos

Don't believe previous reviews - nice little campground - safe & clean.
Sadly some people who do reviews don't understand small campgrounds CAN'T have people onsite all the time. This campground only has a couple people a day (at most) coming or leaving so there just wouldn't be any logic to owners being around all the time.
It is a small campground and it is owned by a husband & wife with two kids in college. Owners also have to work during the week so Monday through Friday it is likely you will not see them. There is a drop box for your payment, bathrooms & pool were very clean. Sites were mowed and well maintained but if you are their during the week it is highly unlikely you will see the owners or be able to talk with them in person.
However, both weekends we were their the owners were working ALL day to make the place as nice as possible. We really enjoyed the place and talking with them.
If you are looking for a HUGE campground with hundreds of sites this is not it. But if you like a private setting that is clean and well maintained you will not be disappointed.
I wanted to post a nice review shortly after our visit but I have been extremely busy. So sorry for the delay giving this feedback! - toomanypins

This run down, side-of-road park does not deserve your business. The hostess, when she is around, is rude and totally unhelpful to a first-time visitor. We were returning to the East from an 8,000 mile trip with lots of RV parks under our belt when we picked this one from Woodall's. It does NOT deserve any rating at all. Skip it. - SilverOtter

We reserved a 50 Amp Electric, Sewer, water, pull through site for 9 days. There was nobody here to check us in and other clients told us, "She doesn’t come around much." We had no instructions as to what site to go to, so we searched for a 50 amp pedestal and backed in. The owner/manager finally showed up at 5:10 pm. She was the most unfriendly person I have ever come across. Didn’t bother to introduce herself, seemed annoyed we were paying by credit card, and the word surely would not even be accurate. The first night the main pedestal power went off 6 hours. I will say they replaced the 50 amp breaker in the morning. In the afternoon the power started cycling on and off again. Now fortunately we have the best TRC Power Surge Guard makes, so it didn’t fry my A/C or my TV. It did cause damage to my computer. The manager said, "Oh I'm out of town so there’s nothing I can do. Try moving to a different site." We are both in our 60s and I am disabled so this was not a nice experience. We did it, and the problem was worse. Now the power is cycling off every 2-3 minutes. I could read the display on my Surge Guard so I know the voltage amps coming in from the Pedestal. There is/was nothing wrong with my unit or my RV electrical system. The place smelled of sewer everywhere and trash had not been picked up in quite some time. It was a nightmare. We left 4 days early and the manager refuses to return our calls regarding a refund. - jimhoch

We only stopped over night on the way home from western Ohio, but we will definitely be back to explorer the park and the area. Our route was along the Ohio Scenic Byway and was an pleasant end to an otherwise horrendous drive along Rt 71.
The park is off the beaten path and being a Sunday night, there were plenty of open site, but only a few big rig friendly. The site we were in was 30 A and no water, but there is a water fill and dump station near the park office. I saw the pool but did not go for a swim, but again will plan on taking full advantage of the amenities another trip.
The staff was very friendly and even offered to escort me back to my site. It's heavily shaded so no satellite but over air was acceptable. - htowners
Jul 2007 - $25.00
Gorgeous state campground to top of hill. Large wooded sites. Great trails for hiking and ponds for fishing. If your looking for a relaxing camping trip with quiet nature all around you then this is the place. Campground has a well laid out dump and water fill station, small campground store. At the entrance of the campground which is at the bottom of the hill is a large pool with a water slide and jumping board. Also they serve hot food at the pool area. Local sheriff makes routine patrols thru campground. - mdcamping

Nice enough sites however after making reservations 3 months in advance we were put beside a worker who woke us up each morning at 5:45 starting his work truck and throwing things in the bed. - Mgee
Sep 2018 - $44.00
Like most KOA's, the value isn't there for someone just needing an overnight stop. All the amenities become extraneous. The manager was friendly and we were escorted to our site. The park is located only a few miles from the interstate but there is a long, narrow, hilly road leading to the park, and, once in the park, the road to the sites is very narrow. The water pressure was low, but the electricity was good and the utilities are convenient. - Gator67

Lot of complaints about the road to the campground. It's western PA...there will be hills. Site was fairly level, but had to share a water spigot with the neighbor...every other site has water. And the dump was uphill from our site. I never understand how anyone thinks that will work well. Sites are very close together. One TT had awning out, and it went over part of the road. Maintenance here seems hit or miss. When we arrived the office was closed. They close 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM every day. We found our space and set up. Headed into the city. Office closed when we returned and when we left the next day. Never saw a soul who worked there. Seems to be a fair number of permanent residents here. I rarely have security concerns at campgrounds, but when we left for the city I double checked all locks. And I was concerned for our dogs. It was hot, and I worried about the power as the outlets were in disrepair. Wife said we are not staying there next time in Pittsburgh. Grounds need a lot of maintenance. - Jeff and Melissa 1105
Oct 2007 - $15.00
We stayed here while working in Shippingport, PA. The campground is geared more toward traveling contract workers. There are no facilities (restrooms, etc.) and the owners run the park from their home. The owners were extremely friendly and the area was very nice. We will come back again! - lapo99
Jul 2018 - $45.00
A long way into a town or the nearest interstate so maybe not great for a one night stand. It is Great for a longer stay. Free hayride on Saturdays and a free beach everyday. I spent one afternoon sitting on my lawn chair in the creek behind our site. - WNC Traveler
Aug 2017 - $55.00
Yes there is so much to do here. We stayed 3 nights and did not get to do all that we wanted. My GPS had no issues getting us there. There are several signs directing you which way to go. Yes the road to the campground is not ideal. It is paved, but bumpy and windy. This is a public road and no fault of the campground. Leaving, we encountered a big rig coming in. No problem if you both pull over and let the other pass slowly. In the campground itself, the roads are narrow so again, pull over and let the other pass. The owner was super nice and appreciative that we stayed at his campground. Our site sat back off the road and had plenty of grassy area in front. Site was level with gravel where you park the trailer and a stamped concrete patio. Negatives - Bathhouses are spaced out. Each loop has a bathroom, but they are like outhouses. There was air in our water line so the pressure was not the greatest. The other couple with us in the next site had the same issue. Sometimes the cold water would come out hot for a bit. None of this would keep us from returning. - JillaRoo
May 2017 - $45.00
PROS: Situated in beautiful canyon, with loops of camping sites about a mile into the canyon, with a creek meandering through. Large lake with paddleboats. Numerous playground areas for kids. Good signage. Well maintained. CONS: Restrooms were basically outhouses, although they did have RV toilets. No sinks, just a hand sanitizing station outside of each. The approach to the park is about a mile of a narrow, winding steep one lane road -- scary in an RV. Poor Wi-Fi connection in the park. When we visited, I think we were the only visitors, although the park was about half full of year-round residents. The year-round rigs were well maintained, with landscaping, storage sheds, permanent decks, golf carts. However, we felt like intruders in a mobile home park. - Paul and Jeannette
Aug 2018 - $30.00
We were promised a site with a view of the river. When we arrived we were told someone had placed another camper in our spot then offered one of three other spots, two of which my truck would not fit, much less a 43 foot RV. The other was a 30 amp with no sewer. We were handed one excuse after another, the camp site was not at all what it was depicted to be on the website. We had to find another RV park for the night. - Wanda M
Sep 2017 - $32.00
We stayed at this park for the great view of the Ohio River, to visit the Fiesta dinnerware factory just up the road, and for a quick business side trip to Pittsburgh. (There are absolutely no Pittsburgh area campgrounds with decent reviews.) Like almost all the campgrounds in this area, it is mostly inhabited by quiet and well--behaved permanent or seasonal units, with the prime sites reserved for visiting RVers. Our site directly overlooked the river and the many pushboats and barges quietly passing by. The entire campground is grass, with ruts and connections to mark the sites. No problem. There may be mud when it is rainy, but we had great weather. There is no manager on site during the day, but she was here eating dinner and awaiting our late arrival. When we needed a power cord extension, she showed up promptly with one. And the next day she was free with information about good restaurants (there aren't many) and an alternate route to Pittsburgh. Like every campground in the region, there is no cable TV and no local stations available. Some sites have sewer, and there is a convenient dump station. There is a very small playground, but in general I would say the campground is not designed for kids. We found it to be very quiet and peaceful. This could be because school is in session - we make a point of traveling when that is the case. There is plenty of room for large rigs. - pompomgirl
Jun 2017 - $39.00
The campground is right on the Ohio River and there is a boat launch and docks. The road in is gravel and you cross a train track (train doesn't run at night). Check in was fast and friendly. The majority of sites are full time and well kept up. Our site was a pull through but just barely. We were right next to the bathhouse and pulling out was a bit tricky. We were able to leave the tow-dolly attached. Site was all grass and level. We were parallel to the river so sitting outside was nice and peaceful. We had full hook-ups with 50 amp The water connection was a little far, about 30 feet. Water pressure was good. WiFi wasn't good the first night but they put in a new system the next day and it worked great. We stayed June 7-9, 2017. We paid $39.22 a night with no discount. Across the river is East Liverpool, with shopping and restaurants. Just down the road from the campground is the Laughlin China Company where Fiestaware is made. They have a retail store and be sure to check out their scratch and dent room - great prices. - BarrettsHappyTrails
