Nice park, but bad location and even worse roads. The park is located off windy roads with narrow corners and a lot of low hanging branches. Consider other options if traveling with a large RV. The park has great amenities for the kids and family with a very popular pool, putt putt, jumpy, corn hole, etc. Their wifi was decent, which is a major plus. Being a KOA, it has the standard showers, bathrooms and laundry which were all reasonable. The park is a mix of pull through and back in sites that are all gravel, with most having a concrete pad with a table, chairs and firepit. The roads in the park are problematic to navigate with a large RV. See our full reviews and pictures at our blog at thegilliamsisland. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

As others have stated, this place is in hilly country, and the campground itself is situated on a hill. Most of the sites, including ours are, or look, unlevel. It took us 4 tries in repositioning our RV to get it so we were almost level. With that, we had to put a block under one wheel. Embreeville Rd (where the campground is) is narrow and windy, and the town could do a better job pruning overhanging trees along the road. Staff is friendly and welcoming. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Leveling can be a challenge. Coming in from the south is a challenge. You'll first see a sign that says "No trucks permitted", then another that says "RVs permitted".

All the comments made by others about sites being unlevel and the park being very hilly are true. Sites are gravel. The roads leading to this campground are very curvy and NARROW. While this is not the park's fault, it is something you will have to deal with nonetheless. Call for arrival directions ... your GPS will certainly get you lost. Friendly and helpful staff. If you have a roof mounted satellite, you'll need to be selective on your site as there are many tall trees to contend with. Site 31 is big rig friendly and DirecTV roof mounted dish friendly. It is an expensive park and rates go UP on the weekends. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful area and good shopping within 20 minutes. Take the tour of Philadelphia offered by the campground. The tour guide (Rick) is super knowledgable and makes the tour a high value purchase. Bring cash on the tour as the deli we went to didn't take credit cards (but it did have an ATM).

Don't come to this park if you have a big rig. This park is located on a hill and not big rig friendly. I have stayed here a few times and know that they have very few sites that are level. I asked for a level site that I could get satellite coverage. The site I was assigned was not level. To get level 3 of my tires were off the ground. The park is far out in the country not near any major highways so getting to park is challenging - involves driving many miles of narrow winding two lane narrow roads. Inside the park the gravel roads are narrow and many have steep slopes. Sites have narrow gravel pads, a picnic table and fire ring. There is grass between sites. Most sites are right next to each other and just long enough to barely fit a tow vehicle. Wifi is poor and they tell you not to stream video. Trash is picked up daily at site. There is a nice pool and playground equipment. They escort you to your site - in my case the escort took me on the wrong road so I had to back into site instead of pulling into site. There are a number of trees so many sites can not get satellite access. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

When arriving at night there should be better lighting, signs for numbered areas and numbers on the electric post, not on arbitrary trees. We had to get out of the car (rainy night) and shine a flashlight on many sites to find ours. Roads are in poor shape, rutted and narrow. Sites not level and are hard pack which is messy and gritty when wet. There were many other available sites but we were given a deeply forested back-in site swarming with TICKS! My husband took a shower which was never more than barely warm and the showers are not connected to the bathroom. It appears to have nice facilities and great for kids but I would never stay here again for the amount we paid including our KOA membership which I am beginning to question. Site was not level and had to back in to get into it. WiFi was very strong. Good Verizon connection also. Cable also available, but station selection was poor (not the full range of major networks, and no MSNBC, but did have some local stations). Pricing varies based on whether there is sewer hookup at the site, which we didn't have, or just water, electrical and cable. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

very nice KOA, but sites are tight together, ours was up on hill behind store, which was great for WIFI but it was just dirt..no grass or gravel on doorway side..so tracked in a lot of dirt and mud going in and out. our awning was 3 inches away from next sites awning. staff was very nice. stream at bottom of campground , but no fish were caught. the new patio sites are very nice....but way too expensive. road going in was tight, but we had 25' so no issues. The park is in a very picturesque location far from any road noise. Access to the park is somewhat difficult, but is only 15 minutes from Philadelphia metro. Park could use some upgrading, particularly site pads and bathroom facilities. Too many weekenders with children and dogs. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

Campground is a KOA Holiday level site. Facilities are top-rate. Restrooms and facilities were clean and well-equipped. Used campground as a base to explore the Philadelphia area. Campground provided good maps and tips to the local area. Took commuter rail line from Bryn Mawr to downtown Phil. Could use closer station, but trains more frequent closer to Philadelphia. Pool and recreation building was newer. Getting to the campground was a challenge - narrow roads, out in the middle of nowhere. On the positive, no freeway noise - it is out in the country with lots of horse farms. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

We have spent every summer here for the past five years. There is no comparison. The space is beautiful, the area of Brandwine Valley just lovely. Fabulous shopping and site seeing nearby. Canoeing on the creek available. The rapids on the creek give a wonderful sound. Dog friendly. The positives outweigh the few less than stellar issues. Getting here is accomplished on a narrow road with untrimmed bushes sticking into our path. Some of the employees are taken with a grain of salt. But those minor things can't tarnish the sparkling swimming pool, great gift shop and rolling hill views. Excellent. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

We highly recommend the restaurant Bella that will deliver to the site. Shopping in Chaddsford and Kennett Square is fantastic. The Mexican restaurant Azteca Plaza is good and Floga across Rt 1 very good. An excellent location with easy access to the Philadelphia Airport, Philadelphia, Jersey Shore, Delaware and Maryland beaches.

The roads into the campground are narrow. It's not a big problem but one has to pay attention in a big rig. Be especially careful if you are northwest of the campground as there are some very low railroad bridges in the area. We came upon one on Rt 322 with only a 12' clearance. Had to unhook and backup and take another route. Attractive CG and we had an easy access site, 81. Appreciated that shrubbery between the sites, hid our neighbors sewer and water connection. Nice table and umbrella. The biggest problem with the campground is that the electric presents a challenge. It was a very hot weekend so there was a lot of demand. But the incoming in one of our 50 amp legs was only 108 or less. Not suitable for anything; the other was 120. Management said that the power company had been on site for several days but to no avail and that in two weekends in a row a tree fell on the wires. Several units, including us, had to run generators . Wifi is very good. Would stay again if the electric is fixed. Price is a little high but it is close to Philly. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

The campground is wonderful. Great facilities, staff, amenities, location, etc. BUT!!!! The road in is terrible. Its a widow maker for large rigs 30plus feet. If you are dolly towing, good luck. The road in has sections where two cars can hardly make it. Trees scrape your rig all the way in from US 1. The locals hate RVers and do not like you to negotiate a turn and play games. The traffic is heavy for a rural area. If you want to come here in a large rig, detach your tow vehicle before you get to Embeerville road, and then pray. Do not let local drivers bully you and insist on your right away. I would skip this campground, but if you want to come, be very very careful coming in and make certain you have RV insurance. Good luck. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground with lots of things to keep little people happy (river, woods to hike through, canoes, mini. Golf, pool, playground). the weekend activities are well done. The staff is always friendly and helpful, we have stayed here many times and have never had anyone be less than wonderful. The road leading to the campground is treacherous, narrow, blind curves but nothing the campground can do about that! We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.
