Stayed with a group of friends last weekend, and we had ~8 sights in loop C. No instructions at entrance kiosk for folks with reservation nor was there someone consistently at kiosk during the stay to ask questions to. The only instructions were for people who didn't have a reservation which was very odd. Restroom in the loop had not been cleaned in some time, and when I went to use it next morning, there was a yellow "being cleaned" sign on door with no one in sight and door was locked. Roads and trails had debris on them and look to have been not consistently maintained. On first evening, campers at one site were outrageously noisy all through the night, and the campground host two sites over did nothing to address the issue. The next day, yelling, screaming, and men/men and men/women fist fights ensued and it hours before campground management ejected the campers. Fire pits had not been cleaned our of debris in weeks. I would think twice about ever going to this campground again. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

First campground we stayed in at start of our full-time RV life adventure. Nice campground at top of a hill in the park (which means Verizon users can actually get 1-2 bars of signal service, as compared to virtually no service down in the state park main use area.) Paved roads and sites in the pet-friendly C-loop, most looked pretty level but there were a few exceptions. Decent spacing between sites, and most were shaded with mature trees. Adequate road clearance for big rigs. Bathroom showers had good hot water, but the one in C-loop was not cleaned for 3 days, until day we left, probably due to camp host being absent for first 3 days of our stay. Lots of activities possible in park, from hiking to kayak and canoe rentals, orienteering, disc golf course, and a big swimming pool (that you have to drive to from the campground). No Wifi, as typical for a state park. We would stay again if in area. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

For craft beer fans, Hidden River Brewing on Rt. 724, less than 15 minutes away and open Thurs-Sun, should not be missed. Hopewell Village National Historic Site (free admission) is also a good place to visit.

We enjoyed our 2 days we stayed at French Creek. The facility is beginning to show it's age but still has the charm of a very peaceful state campground. We booked our stay on line and thought the "service Fee" charge ($7) was a little excessive. Our 5th wheel was 30 ft and our tow vehicle was a F-250 Crew Cab w/ 8 ft bed. The site was a little tight with our total length of almost 50 ft. When we disconnected we parked sort of across the asphalt pad. They have upgraded some of the full service sites and they appear to be very nice and are longer in overall length. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It's about an hour drive into Philadelphia. Nice shopping and some good places to eat. We enjoyed our breakfast at Exeter Family Restaurant (4800 Perkiomen Ave, Reading, PA) and stopped by late in the evening for some very good "homemade" pie. They're open 24 hours.

Overall Rating:

Off-season stay, so no attendant at checkin booth. Reservations made online. Detached toad so we could drive through park to find our site before moving our coach. Roads are tight coming in to park, but manageable. Site was smaller than expected, but fairly easy to level. 50 amp and sewer worked fine, water pressure a little low. Ranger arrived shortly after we got in, very courteous, explained a few rules and was gone. Loop C was very quiet, but that probably changes when full season hits. Large trees in this loop make site selection critical if you want satellite reception. Ours (#1) was fine. Did not utilize other park amenities this trip. Overall, French Creek met our needs for the visit we were on. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

The only full hook up sites are in Loop C. This is the only loop that allows pets. Only a few our 43 footer could fit on, and barely at that. Trees need to be trimmed on roads. Nice pool, clean lake some activities. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed in C loop. Large roomy site, shaded but still got satellite signal. Camp hosts were very friendly, nice quiet place. Road into the park is a little tight, but not that bad. Would definitely camp here again! We camped at French Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed for three nights to get our camper ready for a 3 week trip south. We pretty much had the place to ourselves, so I was able to practice towing our camper when we left. (DH always towed.) FCSP is about 45 min from our condo and is convenient, so it is our "go to" campground since we have an HOA that doesn't allow campers. I read the other reviews and believe this park has changed over the past few years. Even though we don't use them, I have peeked in the bath house. I have always found them to be very clean, even after a busy weekend. I do see staff coming by daily to check and restock. We stay in Loop C because we have two dogs. It is part RV and part tent. Some have water, elect and sewer. Some just water and elect and some are dry camping. There is a dump station with 4 spots on the way out if needed. All sites have trees, so there is shade. All sites have a pole for your lantern which you will need as it can get very, very dark. All campsites have a fire pit and picnic table. Some sites are cement and some stones. The grass seems to be cut regularly. There is no cable available and sometimes a few stations come in with the antenna. The pool (in season) is a short drive away and it is an extra $8. The park itself is beautiful. There are several hiking trails, a beautiful lake with boats, canoes and kayaks available for rent. Fishing bait is available 24/7 in a vending machine. There is no swimming in the lake. We enjoy this park very much and will be going there hopefully for years to come. Oh yeah, don't pick site 8. Very unlevel. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

There are four loops that are available, only one loop is available for those with pets. It appeared some loops were better maintained (restrooms and landscaping, etc) than the other loops. We stayed in C and it looked a little sloppy as the grass was long and not mowed. There is not a separate area for tent campers and during our stay, over 60% of the spots were occupied by tents. The park itself is nice with two lakes, beach area, pool, frisbee golf, boat rentals, hiking trails, etc. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for five nights on site C15. Fifty amp electric was fine during the entire stay and water was close by at one of the many spigots located in the camping loops. There is a four station dump station when exiting the campground area. Lots of tree cover so a satellite signal might be impossible to get. Bathrooms and showers were acceptable when I used them. Some of the sites in the C loop are for pet owners so make sure to reserve early if you have a pet that you want to bring with you. Our site accommodated our 33 foot motorhome, but parking for our toad was tight. If we visit again we would look to book the following sites: C2,3,14,15,35,44,46 or 47. They were larger motorhome friendly sites. The park is really great, we love to mountain bicycle and there are many trails to do that along with hiking. The lake area and pool is wonderful, small boat and kayak rentals are available. Rangers and campground host drive through frequently. Many things to do in the area, microbreweries, Hopewell Furnace and if you like breakfast make sure to go to Shorty's Sunflower Cafe in the Pottstown area. We also rode on the The Schuylkill River Trail that we picked up in Birdsboro. The directions, from Reading or Pottstown, take 422 to 345, follow 345 to Park road, campground is off of Park road. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We did not happen to go into the restrooms so we can't verify what the previous reviewer wrote about them. Overall, the park was very attractive and everything we expected. We got 50 amp electric and used the dump and fill, on the way in. It was pretty full Friday and Saturday with lots of families. Thursday and Sunday were pretty quiet. Everything was green and the grass had been mowed. It was tight, but workable manuevering our 40 motorhome in the park. We would come here again. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Arrived on Saturday and stayed four nights. On Sunday after the weekenders left the bathrooms were filthy. My wife said that human waste and blood were smeared on all the toilet seats in the women's restroom. The seats were not cleaned until a fellow camper took it upon herself to clean them on Tuesday. The park staff finally showed up with a pressure washer on Wednesday and did the women's restroom only. I never witnessed any cleaning in the men room. I did see the cleaning crew drive through without stopping each morning. The campsites were extremely overgrown with weeds. I feel sorry for any tent campers that were to use our site unless they brought a weed whacker with them. There was also a large dead tree on our site (C37) that constitutes a definite hazard for anyone camping here. There was a trailer on site with the campground host sign but we never found anyone there. They may have been here when we arrived on Saturday, I can't say for sure. The kiosk at the entrance to the camping area was unmanned for the entire time we were here. There was a sign indicating that people needed to go down the road to the main park office. We didn't bother since we reserved and paid online. No one ever checked on us to verify that we belonged on the site. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Tent Trailer.

We stayed at C17, an awesome site. Was large, spacious and private. Really nice CG. There are quite a few nice sites here. Lakes and pool are a short drive away. Pool was crowded so we didn't go. Maybe next time. There are some big fish in one of the lakes. The other is a trout lake that I didn't fish. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rate reflects discount for a handicap site. This is a beautiful park, our site was enormous (C40), TV reception was excellent, and it was peaceful and quiet, even on a holiday weekend. The reason for the score of 9 is their dog policy. I feel the entire loop should allow dogs, rather than just a few sites. We were 5 feet from a dog site, but ours wasn't, so we had to leave the dog at home. Would definitely camp here again. We camped at French Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.
