Lots of rain and leaves, but that is this time of year. Park was small and seemed quaint and like being in a forest. Laundry facilities were ok. We were in sight number was 53 which was a great pull thru site. The staff was very helpful on what tours to take of Gettysburg. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are so many tours and museums and we did about 4 museums and one two hour guided bus tour. It is very sobering to think about what really took place here! Let the staff at the KOA steer you in the right direction.

Walk-in for std pull-thru site for 3 nights. We were placed in site 15. FHU with good connections. Site was just big enough for our 30ft. motorhome with tight space to park car in front. We had to unhook the tow dolly and tuck the tongue under the RV to fit in the site. Park is pretty with lots of trees and boulders setting the boundaries of the sites. Sites are tight and close to but trees provide privacy. This is NOT a park for big rigs as turns are tight although there are a couple of longer sites that are pull thrus that exit you onto a different road that could work. The office staff was great to make sure we were satisfied with the spot. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Motorhome.

Ate lunch at the Lincoln Diner. Food mediocre at best. We are not picky eaters at all but this was poor food. (spaghetti and philly steak sandwich)

When we arrived, we were immediately escorted to our site before checking in. They had a nice system to keep new arrivals from piling up on the entrance road because there wasn't much space to park and go into the office to register. The staff was very friendly and even waived a cancellation fee (!!!) when I had to cut my stay short by one day due to travel issues. As a previous review mentions, we were in the section of 65-69 and did have some traffic noise on the road behind the site but it wasn't that bad and we were eventually able to block the noise. The site I had was W/E only and was probably the most level gravel campsite I have been on, I did not require any leveling of my motorhome. This CG is very well maintained and they use the natural trees, landscaping and boulders for site borders and fire rings. The pool and activities area were modern and well maintained. The putt putt course even had civil war themed holes. The camp store had the basics for camping supplies and souvenirs. There are plenty of cabins and a nice section specifically for tents that have level pads. Most of the sites had the typical amount of space between sites, not overly spacious but not stacked on top of each other either. The restrooms and showers by the main office were nice and were clean each time I used them. This was one of the few KOAs that I actually did NOT have WiFi connectivity issues. There are tours available to both DC and Gettysburg. Overall, you can tell that this is a well cared for campground. I would stay here again. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Motorhome.

Sites are a good size, and shady. Park location is great for touring battlefields and visiting the museum. WiFi is poor, and park can be very smokey as campfires are allowed. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed in site #68, to the left when you enter the campground. We were in the water/electric section, and saw mostly other pop-ups, smaller RVs, and a few tents in our area. Our site was very spacious, beautifully landscaped and wooded, but right next to the road. There was a buffer of trees, but unfortunately that didn't make much of a difference with regard to noise. I live adjacent to a busy local highway, and the noise was worse here at the CG, even though this road seemed like a smaller, rural road. There were vehicles loudly whizzing by at all hours of the day and night. If we were to return, we would definitely avoid sites 65 through 69, as they all back up to that same road. Site 74 in the same section caught our eye as being very private, tucked away, and backing thick woods, so we would request that site for sure. The whole water/elec section was a bit further from the bath house than we usually like to be with little kids, but not a deal-breaker of a walk by any means. Bath house was decent. Showers were very nice and looked like they'd been updated recently, but the overall bathroom earned about a B- for cleanliness. It was kept reasonably tidy (other than the trash overflowing on one occasion), and the countertops stayed wiped off, but the whole bathroom (minus the showers) just seemed a bit old, drab, and didn't smell great. I know it's a bathroom, but this wasn't a one-time smell; it persisted throughout all 4 days of our stay. What impressed me most about this CG was the landscaping and use of natural surroundings. There are tons of really nice boulders everywhere, bordering each sites and most of the fire rings. The grounds are also very green and wooded, so it really does look and feel like a natural, rustic setting - much more so than any other KOA I've visited. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

You'll never lack for things to do in Gettysburg. Obviously, the national battlefield is a must-do. I'm not a history buff by any means, but I really enjoyed the auto tour, and was taken aback at how vast and beautiful the battlefield is, with varying scenery. I also highly recommend the nature hike within the campground!

Overall the campground was clean, quiet and staff and service were excellent but, we did experience over and under voltage's on our site first night camping. We thought at first it was our EMS surge protector and had the staff come to our site late Friday night and they replaced the 30 amp breaker and receptacle but the voltages were fluctuating all week. If you decide to stay here we would advise to have some protection between your rig and their electrical. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is your old fashion KOA - a destination family park: kinda rustic, kinda modern, kinda quaint and very woodsy. Staff very helpful and friendly. We had a problem with enough voltage to run our ac (site 24). They found a site that had plenty of power and we moved. This is not only an entertaining destination but a place to stay while visiting a very popular historic sight: Gettysburg National Military Park. They serve very reasonably priced and delicious breakfasts on the weekends. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

A park volunteer recommended an orientation at the visitor's center (Movie, Cyclorama, and Museum) before taking the driving tour. It was good advice as it established a framework for understanding the events at Gettysburg.

Love this campground but my only complaint was: My husband is hiking the AT and I drop him off at 7:00 in the morning. This is the first campground that charged me early arrival. Kinda cheesy I thought. We have stayed at campgrounds now from Georgia to PA and this is the only one that has charged me an early arrival of $25.00. After seeing a few of the other campgrounds around Gettysburg, we felt we had made a good choice by staying here. The amenities were excellent, plenty to do for kids, and easy access to laundry room which we used. Check in was quick and efficient, staff friendly. My only complaint was that there was no grass at all, just gravel. We had our elderly dog with us, and it was not practical to walk him down to the doggy walk area. They did have a nice pet playground, but we did not make use of it. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This the third time we have camped in the Gettysburg area and this, by far, is the nicest campground (we camped at Drummer Boy twice before). With only about 70 sites, it is small enough to not feel crowded but has all of amenities you would expect at a larger campground. It was not difficult to get my 5th wheel into the campground or back in, and we were escorted to our site by staff. The bathrooms are some of the best we have seen; trash is picked up daily right from our site. The only downside to this campground is the WiFi leaves alot to be desired, if that is important to you. We would camp here again. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Very rustic campground with plenty of woods around the sites. We had a premium site that was a back in. The site was a good size and was positioned so views of our neighbors was limited. Hookups were in good places. The patio was very nice with newer table and chairs and a nice sliding double chair.
Roads were a little tight for bigger rigs but we still got in and out with no problems.
Very good location for visiting Gettysburg city and park. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Gettysburg KOA is located about 10-15 minutes away from Gettysburg attractions. Entry road is very small, upon arrival there was a backup of other rv's and vehicles trying to check in on a Friday afternoon; had to unhook TOAD on roadway as there was not enough room to disconnect inside campground with others arriving to check in. The site were given when we booked was changed to another site upon our arrival. Site 6 was very narrow, but level gravel base. Verizon signal was not good at all at the campground, trees blocked satellite signal, hook ups were all very close. If you have a tall rig stay away from site 6 as the electric running over head was low on this site. Roads in the campground were very narrow. Many of things for kids to do in the park including bounce pillow, large connect four and jenga, and were able to rent pedal cars. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Motorhome.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate your feedback and are very sorry for the congestion you encountered when you arrived at the park.
