We camped here in a nice long pull thru that faced the woods...It took awhile before we found our campsite. Make sure you take on water prior to leaving the ranger station as there is none at the campsites ! Grass was high but then again it was in late September...not sure when the park closes for the season. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I will try and be as accurate as possible about what is going wrong at this park and still get it posted by the rather heavy handed censorship of this site . I have camped here for decades . Ive seen some changes over the years . Some good and Some not so good . Keep in mind there are six camping areas at this park . I just spent the Labor Day weekend in the Deerfield section . There are barking dogs everywhere . Saturday night and Sunday night there were some sites full of intoxicated people . The 2 car per campsite rule is not enforced so the place looked like a refugee camp . The six person per site rule seems to be forgotten as well . There were a few loud radios during the day but thankfully were turned down at night . The campground host does nothing but occupy a free campsite . There are far less ranger patrols than there use to be . These situations have been gradually becoming more frequent in the past few years ever since the current park management took over . Again , this is for Deerfield and not the other areas although we did walk through the pines campground and it looked pretty bad with overcrowded sites and lots of cars everywhere . But we still managed to have a good time and I must say the quiet hours were in fact quiet . We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful park, lots to do. Hiking trails, water activities, swimming and biking all in the park. My review is on the camping section we stayed in. We stayed in the Beechwood section, PT1. The best two spots for privacy and lots of room are PT1 and 3, at opposite ends of the this park. Gravel driveway with grass and woods on this spot. We had electric only, water was from hydrants placed through out the park. One washer and dryer, front load. Same old issue with all camp grounds, people leaving stuff in them for hours. But the washer did an excellent job washing some very sweaty clothes from hiking. When you check in, a fill station is in the parking lot, use it as the roads are narrow and to fill in the parks camp grounds is tough. There are 5 sections of campgrounds, some with electric, full and no hook ups. You can ride your bike to all different sections, roads are pretty safe. We have ATT, and no cell service. Also no antenna TV. BUGS are an issue, no bug spray we had could discourage the mosquitoes. We were literally run off a trail by herds, flocks and swarms of them all over us. We were told it was a very wet year and they are bad. Dogs are off leashes on all trails we went on, 6 trails. Suppose to be leashed, but same all story with many camp grounds. Pets are only allowed on certain sections of the camp grounds, we were on the edge of a no pet section, meaning you couldn't walk your dogs in that area, so when you look for a camp site be sure to mark pets. Applies to cats too, we have one. The dump station across from the campgrounds has a bit of a steep section, check it out before deciding where to enter. An owl hangs out here due to the lake next to the dump station. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

Promised land was broken promises. Had a beautiful site in a fantastic campground area but was a bad experience due to multiple camp sites blatantly violating quiet hours. In my experience at other PA state parks, ranger enforcement of rules is usually good. Promised Land had no ranger patrols and it was a free for all, especially with one large group on multiple sites. Aside from that, Promised Lands campgrounds are very nice. There are three main campground areas, some with multiple distinct areas. Pickerel Point extends into the lake and is the star (hard to get a reservation there). Surprised that the other campgrounds still had plenty of unused sites on a summer weekend, maybe because there are no playgrounds. Note that the Pickerel Point map shows a boat rental, that is wrong. The boat rental is by the day use area and it is outrageously overpriced ($25/hr). Lower Lake Rhododendron 528 A+ We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Tent.

This is a pretty park with many sites on a lovely lake. Most sites are high above the water, but we camped near a nice sandy beach with designated swimming area. Some have sewer while others do not. This is a forested park with curving roads though my husband seemed to have no trouble navigating them. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely state park, easy to access off I-84. We stayed in the Beechwood Loop in late April. Restrooms were still padlocked and there were very few campers - nice and quiet. Roads and most sites in this loop are asphalt and level. End sites (like ours) was a combination of gravel and grass. Lovely lovely park for hiking, fishing, and exploring. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Dogs are only allowed in some of the sites - you can't even walk your dog on a leash down 2 of the loops, which I guess is great for dog-phobic persons. Bear-proof trash cans. *XL Big rigs beware: Although the pull-through site we reserved and stayed in was more than large enough, getting in to the loop was difficult. We had to go the wrong way down a one-way, and still scraped the bumper on an open gate. Roads are single-width and have some tight turns with rocks, trees, and structures making turns difficult. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here two nights and could not believe they have already winterized the campground. On Friday and Saturday night there were 43 campers using one toilet. It was 75 degrees both days. They clearly should have reopened the men's and women's bathrooms instead of all campers using the family bath toilet. They did not clean the bathroom all weekend. By the time we left it was an absolute disaster!

The park was pretty but the sites are close together. Site surface was a concrete pad and featured a fire ring. We will not be back here again. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful, large state park with large public use area for swimming, boat rentals, etc. Five different campground loops are very spread out and very different from each other. My loop, Northwoods, allowed pets and was very shady with good space between sites. Some were very un-level, though. Larger trailers and motorhomes need to get one of the pull-through sites or call the office for advice on getting a site big enough rather than rely solely on Reserve America info, some of which is wrong. Only negatives were the price (29.50 was for Electric only, non-resident, pet loop, on a weekday... add $4 for weekend nights), and the grass in the campground loop was not kept cut well at all (be sure to bring tick repellant). We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

Dutch's Market in Greentown is about 8 miles away and is a nice, complete grocery store. Otherwise there is a small grocery store in the little village of Promised Land in the center of the park (on 390), but prices are very high. If coming from I-84, the easiest way in is the exit for 390 south (don't let your GPS take you through Greentown).

Love this park for kayaking, and big spacious sites. New full hookup sites in Pickerel Point are a big plus. Only trouble is rules not followed. Also difficult with check in and check out at same time, 3:00. Some campers don't leave on time and leaves check in late as it is. Speed limit of 5 miles an hour is a total joke. Some doing 45-50, accident is waiting to happen. Supposed to be one wheeled vehicle and one wheeled camping unit per site. Our neighbors had a trailer, a pop up camper, a tent, and two vehicles on site. One check in ranger told us "just drive in and if your site is empty, can pull in, otherwise will have to wait". No one is checking sites there, or cleaning them for that matter. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

This park was in good condition with restrooms and shower facilities a short walk in two different directions. Had to level side to side. Water was available at the head of the road we stayed on. We stayed on a site that allowed dogs.

We stayed one night April 17th, no snow remaining in this campground but it was a little brisk by morning, but not bad. We walked the dogs both on arrival in the late afternoon and in the morning that we left. This was a dog friendly section. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Promised Land State Park, Greenfield, PA This state park is located about 5 miles south of route 84 east of Scranton. There are about 8 sites of the Pickerel Point section of the park open in the winter with electric hookups. This park is huge with different sections on the lake. We have stayed here two times before but not in the Pickerel Point section. This is a no smoking campground of the park and it had full hookups, walk in sites, tent sites, electric sites and cabins with a small beach at the end of the inlet. There are two bathhouses and a third one with showers. Very clean and showers were hot. Most of the sites look out to either the west or east parts of the lake. Some of the walk in tent sites are right down on the water. We stayed there for one night on April 1. It was 32 degrees with piles of snow from a previous storm still there. Ice was still on the lake but starting to break up. It was cold but we would return to this section of this state park. Follow the directions from the park not your GPS directions. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here the 3rd weekend of October. The spot was a perfect choice. For someone needing a large pull thru this was the best choice. It was easy to get in and out even with a 39' 5th wheel. Power was reliable and no issues with pedestal. It is far from the public showers and bathrooms but that was never a concern for me. The spot had a nice large table and a clean fire ring. Water was easy to obtain at the ranger office prior to driving to the campground. The park is beautiful with a lot of hiking trails. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 4 nights here but actually stayed in 3 different sites in the Pickerel Point loop. When we first arrived, we looked at the campsite we had booked (#112, electric only for $22 per night) and noticed it was extremely un-level. We went to the office and were able to switch to #107. That site was much more level and we liked it, but we had some neighbors that we weren't crazy about. We checked the campground's availability and saw that, if we were willing to move, we could get a full hook up site. So, the second and third nights, we stayed in FHU site #136. This site backed up right to the lake and was really beautiful and spacious. However, it was very unlevel. We had to use every one of our leveling jacks to get level. The last night, we moved to space FHU Site #133. This was even MORE un-level. We tried everything we could and were still seriously sloped.

The sites themselves are really nice and have a decent amount of separation and privacy. The lake is beautiful, the hiking trails in the park are well marked, the roads are great, the rangers were friendly and helpful. I just wish they would level all of the sites. It's probably not a big deal for a smaller rig, but for big motorhomes, it can be a real issue. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed in the Pickerel point section of the park. Had full hookup, sites are spacious, beach area at lake ,right down road from site, walking distance. This is a well maintained state park. Any large commercial area is approx. 45 min away. Small local store close by. Good for bike riding, use of large lake, nature. Bath houses are modern & kept clean. Rangers & employees are very helpful. Take the time to go to Bushkill falls or the Casino in Mount Airy. Stop at the pretzel factory on the way back. We stayed in a 28ft travel trailer.
