We stayed here two nights and could not believe they have already winterized the campground. On Friday and Saturday night there were 43 campers using one toilet. It was 75 degrees both days. They clearly should have reopened the men's and women's bathrooms instead of all campers using the family bath toilet. They did not clean the bathroom all weekend. By the time we left it was an absolute disaster!

The park was pretty but the sites are close together. Site surface was a concrete pad and featured a fire ring. We will not be back here again. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful, large state park with large public use area for swimming, boat rentals, etc. Five different campground loops are very spread out and very different from each other. My loop, Northwoods, allowed pets and was very shady with good space between sites. Some were very un-level, though. Larger trailers and motorhomes need to get one of the pull-through sites or call the office for advice on getting a site big enough rather than rely solely on Reserve America info, some of which is wrong. Only negatives were the price (29.50 was for Electric only, non-resident, pet loop, on a weekday... add $4 for weekend nights), and the grass in the campground loop was not kept cut well at all (be sure to bring tick repellant). We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Dutch's Market in Greentown is about 8 miles away and is a nice, complete grocery store. Otherwise there is a small grocery store in the little village of Promised Land in the center of the park (on 390), but prices are very high. If coming from I-84, the easiest way in is the exit for 390 south (don't let your GPS take you through Greentown).

Love this park for kayaking, and big spacious sites. New full hookup sites in Pickerel Point are a big plus. Only trouble is rules not followed. Also difficult with check in and check out at same time, 3:00. Some campers don't leave on time and leaves check in late as it is. Speed limit of 5 miles an hour is a total joke. Some doing 45-50, accident is waiting to happen. Supposed to be one wheeled vehicle and one wheeled camping unit per site. Our neighbors had a trailer, a pop up camper, a tent, and two vehicles on site. One check in ranger told us "just drive in and if your site is empty, can pull in, otherwise will have to wait". No one is checking sites there, or cleaning them for that matter. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

State Parks never cease to amaze me. We stayed on Pickeral Point. A very good site with good paved roads. We took long bike rides along the lake and traffic was very light. A bit pricey for a state park but still very nice. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

This park was in good condition with restrooms and shower facilities a short walk in two different directions. Had to level side to side. Water was available at the head of the road we stayed on. We stayed on a site that allowed dogs.

We stayed one night April 17th, no snow remaining in this campground but it was a little brisk by morning, but not bad. We walked the dogs both on arrival in the late afternoon and in the morning that we left. This was a dog friendly section. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Promised Land State Park, Greenfield, PA This state park is located about 5 miles south of route 84 east of Scranton. There are about 8 sites of the Pickerel Point section of the park open in the winter with electric hookups. This park is huge with different sections on the lake. We have stayed here two times before but not in the Pickerel Point section. This is a no smoking campground of the park and it had full hookups, walk in sites, tent sites, electric sites and cabins with a small beach at the end of the inlet. There are two bathhouses and a third one with showers. Very clean and showers were hot. Most of the sites look out to either the west or east parts of the lake. Some of the walk in tent sites are right down on the water. We stayed there for one night on April 1. It was 32 degrees with piles of snow from a previous storm still there. Ice was still on the lake but starting to break up. It was cold but we would return to this section of this state park. Follow the directions from the park not your GPS directions. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here the 3rd weekend of October. The spot was a perfect choice. For someone needing a large pull thru this was the best choice. It was easy to get in and out even with a 39' 5th wheel. Power was reliable and no issues with pedestal. It is far from the public showers and bathrooms but that was never a concern for me. The spot had a nice large table and a clean fire ring. Water was easy to obtain at the ranger office prior to driving to the campground. The park is beautiful with a lot of hiking trails. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 4 nights here but actually stayed in 3 different sites in the Pickerel Point loop. When we first arrived, we looked at the campsite we had booked (#112, electric only for $22 per night) and noticed it was extremely un-level. We went to the office and were able to switch to #107. That site was much more level and we liked it, but we had some neighbors that we weren't crazy about. We checked the campground's availability and saw that, if we were willing to move, we could get a full hook up site. So, the second and third nights, we stayed in FHU site #136. This site backed up right to the lake and was really beautiful and spacious. However, it was very unlevel. We had to use every one of our leveling jacks to get level. The last night, we moved to space FHU Site #133. This was even MORE un-level. We tried everything we could and were still seriously sloped.

The sites themselves are really nice and have a decent amount of separation and privacy. The lake is beautiful, the hiking trails in the park are well marked, the roads are great, the rangers were friendly and helpful. I just wish they would level all of the sites. It's probably not a big deal for a smaller rig, but for big motorhomes, it can be a real issue. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed in the Pickerel point section of the park. Had full hookup, sites are spacious, beach area at lake ,right down road from site, walking distance. This is a well maintained state park. Any large commercial area is approx. 45 min away. Small local store close by. Good for bike riding, use of large lake, nature. Bath houses are modern & kept clean. Rangers & employees are very helpful. Take the time to go to Bushkill falls or the Casino in Mount Airy. Stop at the pretzel factory on the way back. We stayed in a 28ft travel trailer. Park office is 6 miles south of I-84. The road down is narrow but we had no problem with our 40' motorhome. Park roads are narrower, but doable if you take it easy.

Most people will probably go for full hookups at Pickerel Point, but we chose a 100' pull thru with 50 amp electric only in the Beechwood area. Most of the Beechwood area is short, paved, back-in sites with electric only. There are 2 long pull thrus at both the north and south ends. We had P2 at the north end. Both P1 and P2 were open enough for satellite but required blocking to level our motorhome front to back.

We enjoyed the remoteness and the quiet. Verizon had a weak but adequate data signal.

You can go to the Park website to find how sites are designed, and can also make online reservations. $4 extra charge and $4.50 senior discount. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. Site Beechwood PT4 was one of four sites in this section that was big enough for us (43'). Most of other sites too small. Started out with a reservation for site 103 in Pickerel Point campground but it was very tight, maybe not doable, and the host suggested we try to move. We were lucky to be able to get a pull thru site because they are popular and reserved long in advance. 50 amp electric only, water at the park office or at a few spigots in the campground that need long hoses. Great dump station. Paved roads, pull thrus are gravel, all others in Beechwood are paved. Pickerel Point is all gravel. Note that part of Beechwood is no-pets. Lovely lake, great hiking. Good ATT cell data and surprisingly good OTA TV. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed at the Pickerel Point area with a full hookup. Very large park, beautiful grounds. Mostly everything was well maintained but there was tall grass between the sites. I felt it should've been mowed or weed whacked or something. Beach area at the point was very nice, sandy beach. Bathrooms were clean. Pet friendly. Sites were large and fairly private. Some had a better view of the lake than others due to trees. We did a bird watching class which was well run with knowledgeable guides. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Motorhome.

This park is large and very tidy. Otherwise we didn't find the place overly exciting... simply it was "ok". We appreciated how well run it felt to be. I strongly suggest calling ahead for directions pertaining to the immediate as the signage is poor and the park large. Many of the trails appear to be fire roads which were sunny and open and very warm rather than shaded, not particularly the type of trail hiking we had in mind. I rather felt it is a great park if you live nearby however we didn't find much reason to travel to it if you don't... We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Travel Trailer.
