This is our third stay here and a little bit pricier this time than the last time we stayed here 3 years ago. I called on our way home and was lucky enough to get a spot for us to stay overnight. We were on an end site and it did have a bit of traffic noise. The bathrooms were in the process of being redone and they were very nice. At one time there had been a cost for using showers but that was done away with. I think this was nice for a one night stop to relax after a day of traveling but not sure if I would stay here longer. The higher price might deter me from staying longer even though this is a great location for so many areas of Pennsylvania. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Travel Trailer.
Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $55.00
We have used this campground many tomes for a overnight. It has always been great for that reason. It is under new ownership now who have made a lot of improvements, including the better wifi and cable. It's easy to find and lots of great places to eat within a few miles. We will continue to use this as a stopover! We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
Tips for other Campers:
The Lancaster Brew Pub is 4 minutes away and the food and beer are great.
Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $45.00
We've stayed at Harrisburg East many times, and it was never a great campground (due to traffic noise, close spots, pay showers, little or no grass, etc.), but the new owners are increasing prices (now $45 a night - ridiculous for the area) and requiring a copy of my driver's license, something I've never heard of at a campground. They also now want two night's deposit. The wifi, while free, is flakey - it just randomly dies, only to return a few minutes later. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Travel Trailer.
Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $55.00
We stop by here every September on our way through. We often stay for two nights most places just to decompress before traveling again. There isn't much going on at this campground but the location has always been convenient for us. The rate for a 50 A site had been $40. We were prepared to pay for two nights until they told us that would be $110. The lady at the desk said they are under new management and the new owners raised the rates. I understand the cost of things goes up over time but $40 for one night was already too high for what this campground offers. This new owner is going to need to rebuild this place from the ground up to justify $55 a night. We stayed for one night only because we were already there and mentally I was done driving for the day. We would not pay that price for a second night and we will not be back unless that new owner reconsiders their ridiculous new pricing scheme. Now to detail the haves and have nots. I checked it as family friendly because over the years we have seen families with children. The only thing close to a playground are a few old pieces left over from what must have been a jellystone park many years ago. They did recently add cable TV. They only have a even dozen channels and no channel guide. This alone is not worth any extra money let alone the $15 per night increase. Some of the other sites throughout are closer to level but the three 50 A sites up front by the office pull in level but the front of the site falls off pretty good. This presented no difficulty to us in a motorhome but I mention it for those with fifth wheels as I have seen people hitching up at weird uphill angles. They do have a number of tent sites but these are across a public street from the bathhouse. There have been mentions of road noise in other reviews but we did not have any problem. If you stay closer to the office you should not hear the road noise from the interstate. Overall it is a pretty basic place but it always suited our purposes until they raised the price so high. Hopefully they will reevaluate before they lose so much business they end up closing the place. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
Staff friendly and efficient. Sites level but not very wide. The biggest problem was the traffic noise since there was an interstate highway next to the campground so not very peaceful. Easy access in and out. Would stay here again but pick a site closer to the office and further from the highway. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
Rate is for weekly stay. It's a smaller park with mostly paved streets and gravel sites. Many permanents and stored units around. Lots of sites are not level as previously mentioned. We had to pull to the front of the site to receive a satellite signal and our wheels were off the ground. Laundry has only three machines and one was out of order. Park appears to be installing cable. WiFi was spotty. Looks like the showers are pay. The pool was not yet open but appeared to be nice. Was a little surprised they allowed a smelly horse trailer to occupy a site near campers. Lots of grassy areas would be nice if fenced for dog runs. We would stay again. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $38.00
We always stay at this convenient park when headed to FL on our annual trip. We always find the staff to be friendly and efficient and have not had any issues. I cannot comment on restroom or shower facilities or laundry as it is a one night stop for us. No complaints. No cable! We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $35.00
Well laid out park with nice pull-throughs, convenient utilities, strong Verizon signal, very good WiFi, very good water pressure. Nice facilities for the better weather. We wanted to stay longer but that strong cold front and snow forecast drove us south. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $35.00
It is a little hilly, but I see no reason some are negative about it. My site was level right to left and I only had to raise the nose a bit to make it level front to back. NO BLOCKING REQUIRED. Site 104. Good shade, may bother those with satellite. Verizon service good. Gravel and dirt pads. Good staff. Would come back again. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $30.00
Nice place for an overnight stop close to I83. Large sites - mostly level. Nice scenery and very friendly check in staff. We would stay here again. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $30.00
Very nice park, indeed. Surpassed expectations. Paid extra to get spot near bathhouse. Gravel sites, fairly level, lots of trees. Large pool. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
We stayed here as an overnight stop. It is very close to I83. We stayed in a water electric only site. They do not have cable but we were able to get a few channels on the antenna. The sites are not level but they are not bad for this area. There are restaurants within walking distance. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $40.00
This is the first time at this RV park in 5 years. We were a little cautious due to other reviews about unlevel sites; however, we had no problem. The "100" row has recently been re-graded to make the sites more level. New very clean sewer dumps have also been added to that row of sites. As others have mentioned the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again, but make sure we called ahead to get one of the "100" sites. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: October, 2012 - $30.00
We did not use any of the facilities(shower, pool)as they were closed due to the season. The office was extremely efficient and helpful in showing us to our site. We were on a very level gravel pull through and easy to access. Highway noise was present throughout the day and night. We had a very nice visit with the campground hosts while walking the park together; they were extremely gracious. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
