Small park located off Route 30 about 10 miles East from downtown Lancaster. Check in was easy, and staff very friendly. Site was pull thru, gravel, 30 amp, but Rig needed to be leveled. Water pressure was ok. Sites are close together, some shady some out in the open. We had an open site, however couldn't get satellite. Basic cable was good. Fire ring & picnic table. Small dog park, but green space to walk dogs. Roads in are gravel, enough room to maneuver, and they provide directions for best route to site. Next to an Amish farm on one side and a museum on the other, beautiful views of farmland. Quiet basic park, small playground, small store and no pool. Has mainly seasonal & full time residents, and therefore some trailers/RV need upkeep. They appear to be adding new trailers to be used as rental cabins. Good for an overnight stay. Close to Lancaster, and attractions. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Motorhome.

This is an old established park that seems to try to do upkeep, but not so much doing things to improve the park. It looks like they are working on new electric but not sure as they have been doing this for awhile according to another camper. There has been a talk of a pool for so long I don't know if that will happen. The maintenance crew spent most of 3 or 4 days cutting down some big trees that may have been going bad. The roads are gravel but with many work campers doing a pipeline job nearby, the roads have some mud holes and ruts where they have run across the grass. Sites are a bit tight and with the big rigs the workers have, there trucks are almost parked in the roadway, making it difficult to get by in some areas. It's a nice area to camp with lots of Amish buggies going by at nighttime, and also coming thru the park to sell their goods. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Most popular thing to do from this location is to go to the outlets and shop. Also going to Shady Maple smorgasbord is our favorite thing to do. Touring the area is another favorite for us, just wondering the back roads is so peaceful.

Having been to many camp grounds in Lancaster county this one needs major upgrades. Very dated and old bathrooms and overly pricey laundry facility. Sites are so so not very level. Alot of the sites I passed while walking around especially the white fema looking homes near the tent area just horid looking un landscaped, weeds, muddy and just not at all attractive to see. Farm overview is beautiful and then to walk by such a trashy ghetto looking area was very un inviting. Very disappointed to have seen that. Activities absolutely NONE!! No pool no nothing. If you're passing through and need a spot to sleep it's great other then that keep driving. Not recommended at all for a weekend getaway. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Our site was out in the open closeby an Amish farm. Just a gorgeous open view of the cornfield and blue silos in the distance. Very beautiful and serene for us southern CA people. We used the laundry facility which was clean enough, but a bit pricey compared to one we used at a KOA in MO. The owner and staff were very helpful. It's reasuring to see them cruising the campground in the gold cart on the lookout for anything that may need their attention. Needless to say, this campground is clean, well tended to and a plus, no unruly people making noise. Our site was pretty level as far as gravel sites go, and it was very clean. We did not have a toad. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out the Amish indoor market in town. Because we didn't have a toad we decided not to miss out on the area so we unhooked one day and drove around for a couple of hours. It went well until the narrow road we were on came to a low covered bridge, which clearly at a distance it was obvious that our 11' high rig was not going to make it through. An oncoming car was very patient and courteous as we headed into a driveway, did a couple of back and forth moves to get our motorhome turned around.

Small campground in the middle of Amish country in Lancaster County PA. Our site was a pull through. The site was level but the ground between the sites had quite a bit of slope to it. We had FHU's and the WiFi worked OK most of the time. There is very little to do in the park, but the area if full of shopping & attractions. Lancaster PA is a few miles west with a lot of historical sites. The campground is next to a large Amish farm and you can see them plowing the fields with horse draw equipment most days. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Motorhome.

Lots of Amish shops in the area. There are also several outlet malls near by. If you have a chance visit the Central Market in Lancaster PA (a farmer's market inside a historic building downtown) - open on Tuesday, Friday & Saturdays.

We stayed for 4 nights. The sites are gravel and a little uneven but we did not have any significant problems. It rained during our stay so sites were a little muddy and had some leftover pools of water. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Limited cable but a good signal. WiFi was available and worked. We enjoyed our stay especially since it wasn't crowded. There seems to be little to do for children, though they are building a pool area. We would absolutely stay there again. Easy in/out; mix of dirt and gravel roads; pull-through site awkwardly high centered so had to get just right, left-right, to be level. Utilities worked fine but water pressure sometimes dipped low as campground is on a well. WiFi performance fluctuated. Verizon signal and 4g were excellent. Facilities really old and run-down, WAY, way overpriced, thus a 4 rating. Maybe would have given a 5 if not so ridiculously priced. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Highway 30 (not really a highway) speed limit is 35 mph all the way from Lancaster and also for many miles east. Traffic backs up so plan time accordingly. Walmart 6 miles east.

My family have been camping at Roamers for over 6 years. No, it's not an nationally corporate owned fancy campground, but that is why I'm there. We love the small, personal interaction with the owners and staff. The campground is in need of upgrades and the new owners are working on that. New gravel roads are being added, large pull through sites added, new power service to camp sites in the process, new water lines being installed. They have both shaded and open camp sites. With the events next door at the Rough & Tumble Steam Engine & Tractor Museum and the Amish neighbors riding through at night, going door to door selling fresh vegetables and baked good, what else could feel like Lancaster!!! Great place to stay. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Just picked up new MH last weekend and stayed here while trying everything out. Site was gas/dirt and very uneven but within range of hydraulics. Moved the picnic table and fire ring to the driver side in order to make them usable. Fortunately the site was large and the site behind ours was empty.
Water/electric fine. Sewer required suspension of gravity as it was uphill. Did not use the showers but appeared clean.
Staff was friendly. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Motorhome.

Good location.
We stayed at this campground on two separate occasions during the summer as the location was perfect for us to visit family.
The campground is located on Lincoln Highway (Route 30) in Kinzers, PA, which is about 10 miles west of Lancaster, PA. Although it's close to Lancaster, traffic on Route 30 can be bumper to bumper, especially in the summer time, so allow yourself enough time and patience to get where you need to go.
Approaching the campground on Route 30 from either westbound or eastbound, one needs to really pay close attention to where the campground as, otherwise one can drive right past it, even though there is a big sign, as it kind of sneaks up on you and is on a curve, so be on the lookout! There is ample room for big rigs to turn into the campground property from Route 30, so no worries there; however, we had to disconnect our car at the camp office to navigate our 40' motor home to our site. Interior roads are a bit tight for navigation, so use caution. The two different sites that we were assigned were gravel sites and fairly level. There are a lot of permanent campers staying there, but their sites were well cared for and they kept to themselves.
Amenities at the campground included cable TV (approximately 24 channels), free secured Wi-Fi, volleyball, playground, horseshoes, LP gas, and a game room. Laundry is also on the premises; however, we didn't utilize it so I can't comment on it. This campground is generally less expensive than others in the area because they do not have a swimming pool; however one is slated for in the future.
Check-in as easy and staff were very nice and accommodating. We were given a map of the campground and the staff person explained how to get to our site.
We would stay here again. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Motorhome.

My family and I have stayed here 4 times in the last year. Super campground. The owner is always around and is making many new additions to the campground. It is right next to Rough and Tumble and a beautiful Amish farm. Not far from any Lancaster activity. Will certainly stay here again. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Set in the midst of PA Amish country. Neat, pretty campground. Sites appeared level, but we had to level when we set up. FHU with cable. Wi-Fi offered, but it was a free promotional program that required registering. Bathroom old but clean. Rate reflects two nights at Passport America rate, and one with Good Sam discount. We would return. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Motorhome.

We have been coming to Roamer's for several years. Every year we see new improvements. Many new sites have been added and all sites have fire rings and picnic tables. Our site was shaded by large trees but they did not hinder our slide or awning. Site was big enough for us to park our 30' motorhome and not have to unhook the tow dolly. Still plenty of room to park on site. WiFi was good and no problems with electric as note in a previous reviews. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the grounds are well maintained. We like Roamers because it is quiet and conveniently located to all local attractions. If you're lucky you'll get a visit from local Amish children selling whoopee pies and other homemade goodies. We will be coming back again very soon. Nightly rate stated was based on Passport America. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Motorhome.

Only stayed one night, passing through, but it's a very pleasant, clean, quiet park we'd stay in again. Appears to have many seasonal long-term sites, notably well-maintained, no "trailer-trash" here like we've seen in so many other places! We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Roamer’s provides a fantastic view of the surrounding Amish farm fields and you can see for several miles. We can sit at the campsite for hours taking in the spectacular view and watching the Amish farmers, their adult children and their teams of horses and mules working the fields. You can learn a lot about their way of life by just observing. They are also very friendly. We have spent, on average, about 20 nights a year at the campground for some time but recently have seen a gradual deterioration of the campground since the younger generation has taken over the operation. Their heart just doesn’t seem to be in making any major investment in upgrades, concentrating mostly on grass cutting by workcampers and trimming and repairing the roadways as they frequently wash out with heavy rains. The owner/operators don’t seem to understand the need for good customer relationships and the work needed to take this campground to the next level. Roamer's has the potential to be one of the premier campgrounds in Lancaster County. The infrastructure needs some serious work as the roads are in need of a good manicure, campsites need leveled, overgrown trees which impede vehicle movement in the park need trimmed back and the park electrical system needs substantial improvement. Also, the upper level of the campground is getting pretty junky looking. On our last trip we experienced a severe voltage deficiency at our site, which was out in the field. We had to run all of our appliances on propane for the duration of the trip, as there was just not enough voltage to run them safely. I took my voltage meter up the line and found a power post where the voltage dropped 10 volts between itself the next site, deteriorating further down the campsite line. I went to the office to request a resolution and the answer was that there was nothing they could do. I’m sorry but they could have at least opened the power box at the reported site to check voltages and isolate the cause of the power drop. Power has never been good at Roamer’s and they blame it on PPL when they should be looking at their own electrical components as well. We were prepared to make reservations for 20 days next year but after being so frustrated with the park management made our 2013 reservations at another campground in the area. I must say the nice lady in the campground office was of much more help than the owners. We have no plans to return to Roamers in the future. We camped at Roamers' Retreat Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
