This was our second visit here, and enjoyed it more than our first. We had a beautiful shady site. Both visits, the owners and staff were very nice and helpful. We're looking forward to returning. It's a beautiful campground, well maintained, and a new pool in the works. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Travel Trailer.

This was stop 19 for us and 3 other rigs that have been on the road touring the New England area since July 6th. The women at the office and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The new swimming pool is unbelievable. It is by far the nicest pool we have seen during this trip. The seasonal sites were well kept. Our site, 22, was next to 2 of the seasonal sites. (I will try to post photos.) We had a large site with grass and was at least 60' long. The laundry was spotless and all the machines looked new. The owners honored their commitment to put the 4 of us together. A few of the other parks we have stopped at did not, even though the reservations were made last year. Clayton Park now accepts credit cards and does not add a surcharge.

The last park we were at charged 5% extra if you used a credit card. We have run into other RV Parks on this trip that only take cash or check. This may be more prevalent in this part of the country than elsewhere. This park is out in the country, thus cell service is week, wifi is slow, and there is no cable TV. The sites we were in had no problem getting satellite service and you can receive several stations off the air. The restrooms were spotless and each site in our area had a picnic table and fire ring. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out Villa Maria Restaurante, 1610 Washburn St, Scranton, PA. Great Italian and other food. Lunch under $10. The $8.95 Stromboli at lunch will feed two. Large burgers are only $3.50. Most of the dinner menu is under $15.00.

Tour the Lackawanna County Coal Mine, Scranton, PA.

8 miles from the RV park, at the town of Hamlin are several places to eat, a large grocery, 2 auto parts stores, a McDonald's, a Dollar General and a Tractor Supply.

We had a nice, long pull-thru site, but only part of it was level. We had a little bit of difficulty getting everything set just right, but it did work. Women's restroom was great. Men's had two urinals and two stalls, but neither of the stalls had doors. The main door did have a lock, but that is the only way to "sit" with privacy which, obviously, locks everyone else out. Both bathrooms were very clean. Showers were awkward too, with one door opening to two showers, with very little privacy. The campground was fairly quiet and clean. All staff members were very nice and helpful. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Travel Trailer.

We were there over memorial week. The campground is located on a nice lake. The bathhouses were dirty when we went to them. My daughter wanted to do the activities which never started on time and were unorganized. It seemed that none of the staff was trained well. It is a poorly run campground, at least that was our experience. Our site was a road that had no grass area. Our picnic table was located behind our trailer and out our front door was another camper. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Travel Trailer.

Sonyzee, owner at Clayton Park Recreational Area responded to this review

This is a most puzzling review. We actively monitor our guests and encourage feedback both during their stay and upon departure. We don't recall anyone ever complaining about anything over Memorial weekend, and we were out and about talking with many, if not most, who stayed here, most of whom were return guests. It's quite odd that you would go to the trouble to put such a complaint on a social website before coming to us for any type of resolution. Had you, or anyone else, come to us face to face with the experience you claim you had here, we would most certainly have provided some type of compensation. Therefore, we view the comments in this review as an inconsiderate act, and we are comforted knowing that someone who would conduct themselves with such bad manners, will not be returning to our park.

Once you get past the twisty narrow roads to get to park, lovely lakeside setting, well maintained, large grassy areas and very friendly staff and residents. We had a nice level site with easy utility connections, fair to good water pressure, good park wifi, but weak Verizon signal. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.

We were only here for one night, and we came in with a transmission stuck in second gear! The women at the office were kind enough to let us use their landline phone to call a repair facility in Scranton (since our signal strength was not good). We were in a pull-through site, which was perfect, as we got going first thing the next day.
One comment we would make about the road to the property...it is very narrow in parts, so use care. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.

After driving on the Interstate for many hours, we were looking for a quiet place to spend the night. There is not much to choose from in this area. Clayton Park has great reviews and we decided it would be worth the extra miles to drive there off of the Interstate. You will drive along a narrow 2 lane country road with a few twists and turns. But no problem for our 45 ft motorhome and trailer. Just go slow, take it easy and enjoy the views. Clayton Park is right on Lake Ariel and has a nice waterfront. However, most of the waterfront is occupied by seasonal renters. Very obvious when you see attached decks and tool sheds. But, all of those campers and 5th wheelers are well kept and the sites and surrounding areas are very clean. In fact, they were in the midst of planting additional trees while we were there. If you want a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of city live, this is the place to stay at. They rent kayaks here and it appears to be a good place for fishing. Beware, though, they accept cash or checks, only! This is a nice park with friendly people. Highly recommended. We had a pull-through site. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.

This is a seasonal park with just a few transient spaces. We needed a spot big enough for a 40 ft. motorhome and tent. The pull-through electric/water site took a lot of maneuvering to get in and even more to get out. The pull-through sites closer to the office are much easier in and out, but not big enough for a motorhome and tent. The power was strong and stable. Water pressure was good. Showers cost $1.00 for 5 minutes. I waited at least a minute for the water to warm up enough to use. The park staff and seasonal residents were friendly. There is a half page waiver to sign at registration which I didn't read and I was presented with 4 pages of rules. Our rate was for the site occupied by 4 adults. Follow driving directions posted on the web site. The roads from I-84 to the park are hilly and twisty and get pretty narrow near the park. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.

This was a nice park. Has a lake. Everything was clean and neat. WiFi was available but not working. No problem for us. Park was not busy while we were there. We were the only overnight campers. Would stay again in off season. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is mainly a seasonal park with just a few transient spaces, none of which are lakefront. It is a peaceful setting and you are right at the lake. Pull thru sites were very long with nice spacing between them. They are gravel and level with grass in between sites. Roads are dirt/gravel. Sites are open so using satellite was easy as there is no cable. Wi-Fi is free, but does not work well at the sites. You have to go to the office to get a decent signal to do anything. Nice stop over for a night or two, but really nothing else. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Fifth Wheel.

I am not a seasonal camper but if I were this would be the park I'd choose. Unfortunately, I was merely a short-stayer. I was so pleased with the view, peacefulness & all the quiet I heard! The people (not just staff but campers, too) were very friendly & welcoming. My utilities were reliable, the wi fi was strong, and I was 1 very happy camper. Wish I could have stayed much longer! Very nice quiet campground. Has a low electric line but slid over my 13'6" with no problem. Could hang up if you have a sat dish though. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Fifth Wheel.
