We were met by the owner as we pulled in to register. Very friendly and accommodating. The site was great as we were requiring a pull-through large enough to accommodate our 35' travel trailer without disconnecting. The TV wasn't the greatest, but everything else was good. The view of the lake and the surrounding area was fantastic. Nice place to stay for a couple of days. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is located on a small lake. Be sure to follow the directions on their website - do not use GPS. Location is a few miles from the interstate along narrow county roads. Park was clean and staff are very nice. Most of the campers seemed to be long - term. Phone and Wi-Fi are limited and TV was almost non-existent (I could only get two channels). Overall nice and worth considering. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Fifth Wheel.

We desperately called for a spot over the holiday weekend, on very short notice. The staff and owners were incredibly helpful. I can't say enough good things about them. The park is on lovely Lake Henry and it is easy to take advantage of it: boats for rent, benches for viewing, spots with a view. There is an adequate fenced dog run, lots of grass, paths for dog walking, and a boat launching ramp. The landscaping is attractive and cable was being installed while we were there. The wifi was speedy and available, which is good because we had no Verizon signal. We would definitely return. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.

Great place for stop over. We thought a little pricey, but it is what it is. It's about 5 miles off I-84. Be sure to follow there directions, not your GPS. The staff are friendly, and they also bring you to your site. We had a pull thru that was plenty long. There are many, many seasonal here, but they are all kept very, very neat. Nice swimming pool and laundry room. There are some store's about 8 miles from here for shopping. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed Just one night. A beautiful setting and wish we had been able to stay longer. You do need to follow their direction which were easy to follow. They had a lovely cabana on Lake Henry to sit and watch the world go by. Staff were lovely and took us to our site and came by to see if everything was OK once we were settled. The owners go above and beyond to make sure any needs are met while staying there. They're always looking to improve the Park and you can find them always working together to achieve that goal. All new electrical services and all new sewer hookups have been run to most sites. The showers and restrooms are spotless with a terrific laundry room. The store seems to have just about anything you might need for your stay and reasonable. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.

Nice park, higher priced than usual for us but seemed in line for this area. Nice people a lot of seasonal campers here but we got a good pull through site plenty long enough for our 40 ft. 5er. Looked like a nice campground for camping. We full time and were there to visit family in the area so only sleep there. Be sure to follow directions going there you don't want to come over mountains. We were very impressed with this campground. The grounds and all the facilities were immaculate. The pool was sparkling, and this was the same day in which they had an overnight storm which downed trees an left them with no power for many hours. They even traced us down to notify us they had a power outage in case we wanted to back out. Terrific staff. We couldn'the have asked for more. This nice park is located on a lake in a mountainous part of Pennsylvania. It is convenient for visiting Scranton. We had good satellite reception and Verizon service. Wifi was better than most parks we have stayed in. OTA reception was good for the major networks. There is a nice pool overlooking the lake and sitting areas near the water. There is a small dog run. Lots of room for walking although many of the gravel roads were rutted from recent rain. Management was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Nice campground. Little off the beaten path but worth the drive from I84. There are a lot of seasonals and I expect this park is full most weekends. It sits on the lake and while we didn't have a lake side site you can see most of the lake. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. These reviews benefit other campers, but also help us improve our operations. Just a note: in addition to a nearby town, we also have a small convenience store on site in which we carry ice and ice cream, and commonly forgotten items such as tinfoil, and also limited groceries including eggs, ketchup and mustard, etc. Additional information can be found on our website.

This was stop 19 for us and 3 other rigs that have been on the road touring the New England area since July 6th. The women at the office and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The new swimming pool is unbelievable. It is by far the nicest pool we have seen during this trip. The seasonal sites were well kept. Our site, 22, was next to 2 of the seasonal sites. (I will try to post photos.) We had a large site with grass and was at least 60' long. The laundry was spotless and all the machines looked new. The owners honored their commitment to put the 4 of us together. A few of the other parks we have stopped at did not, even though the reservations were made last year. Clayton Park now accepts credit cards and does not add a surcharge.

The last park we were at charged 5% extra if you used a credit card. We have run into other RV Parks on this trip that only take cash or check. This may be more prevalent in this part of the country than elsewhere. This park is out in the country, thus cell service is week, wifi is slow, and there is no cable TV. The sites we were in had no problem getting satellite service and you can receive several stations off the air. The restrooms were spotless and each site in our area had a picnic table and fire ring. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.

Check out Villa Maria Restaurante, 1610 Washburn St, Scranton, PA. Great Italian and other food. Lunch under $10. The $8.95 Stromboli at lunch will feed two. Large burgers are only $3.50. Most of the dinner menu is under $15.00.

Tour the Lackawanna County Coal Mine, Scranton, PA.

8 miles from the RV park, at the town of Hamlin are several places to eat, a large grocery, 2 auto parts stores, a McDonald's, a Dollar General and a Tractor Supply.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We enjoyed hosting your group. We hope you'll return one day to see the continued progress and take a dip in the new pool. We realize how important connectivity can be when you're on the road. Online services are not just a convenience these days, they're a necessity for most. We understand this need since our reservation system relies upon an internet signal, and many days Verizon's signal isn't enough to do business. We've contracted a local cable company who will bring a stable wifi signal and cable to many parts of the park by 2017. In the meantime, kind words like this inspire us to keep working hard. On behalf of the Clayton Park team, safe travels and thank you for the pat on the back!

We had a nice, long pull-thru site, but only part of it was level. We had a little bit of difficulty getting everything set just right, but it did work. Women's restroom was great. Men's had two urinals and two stalls, but neither of the stalls had doors. The main door did have a lock, but that is the only way to "sit" with privacy which, obviously, locks everyone else out. Both bathrooms were very clean. Showers were awkward too, with one door opening to two showers, with very little privacy. The campground was fairly quiet and clean. All staff members were very nice and helpful. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Travel Trailer.

Clayton Park Recreational Area, owner at Clayton Park Recreational Area responded to this review

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Due to difficulties with this website, we were unable to respond until now. The site you were on had a long term camper on it and should have been prepped and leveled prior to making it available again. We apologize for the inconvenience caused - the site has since been leveled.

Earlier this year we adjusted our men's restroom simply as a proactive consideration for those with disabilities. All of the showers and the restrooms have locks for privacy, and some folks actually like to shower together, so yes, we offer 2 showers in one locked room.

We would have appreciated the opportunity for a conversation about these challenges while you were on site. It's difficult to provide a response or offer remedies when one is only here for a night or two and makes such communications after departure. Though we embrace social media to its fullest, it’s no replacement for the wonderful world of human interaction. Best of luck in your travels elsewhere.

We were there over memorial week. The campground is located on a nice lake. The bathhouses were dirty when we went to them. My daughter wanted to do the activities which never started on time and were unorganized. It seemed that none of the staff was trained well. It is a poorly run campground, at least that was our experience. Our site was a road that had no grass area. Our picnic table was located behind our trailer and out our front door was another camper. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Travel Trailer.

Clayton Park Recreational Area, owner at Clayton Park Recreational Area responded to this review

This is a most puzzling review. We actively monitor our guests and encourage feedback both during their stay and upon departure. We don't recall anyone ever complaining about anything over Memorial weekend, and we were out and about talking with many, if not most, who stayed here, most of whom were return guests. It's quite odd that you would go to the trouble to put such a complaint on a social website before coming to us for any type of resolution. Had you, or anyone else, come to us face to face with the experience you claim you had here, we would most certainly have provided some type of compensation. Therefore, we view the comments in this review as an inconsiderate act, and we are comforted knowing that someone who would conduct themselves with such bad manners, will not be returning to our park.

We were only here for one night, and we came in with a transmission stuck in second gear! The women at the office were kind enough to let us use their landline phone to call a repair facility in Scranton (since our signal strength was not good). We were in a pull-through site, which was perfect, as we got going first thing the next day.
One comment we would make about the road to the property...it is very narrow in parts, so use care. We camped at Clayton Park Recreational Area in a Motorhome.
