Check in was met with teenagers learning/teaching another employee the computer system. During check in we were not offered a map, a list of activities, nor any direction as to where our site was. The camp store is up flight of steps and was adequate. Firewood is sold in the camp store. There is an onsite walkup window ice-cream store which was neat. The site was level and needed no leveling blocks. Utility pole had electric, cable, and sewer. Water is shared with site 243 in front of your camper so ensure you bring extra length of water hose. Bathrooms are directly across from the campsite and are clean and shower water is hot and relaxing no matter when we went. The bathrooms do not have a power vent so several times we went in and the mirrors were fogged up. This campground has a very lax alcohol and smoking policy. Staff did not know what, where, and when the activities were going to be held without looking at the board of which the activities did not start on time anyway. The campground is a stop for the ferry boat which is very cool and walk on to Millersburg is very inexpensive round trip. It is well worth the money and time. The ferryboat can handle cars, vans and light trucks. We walked on. While in Millersburg there is Daniels Diner which has great coffee located a short distance walk at Center and Market Streets. Wife and I enjoyed sitting on the benches overlooking the river from the campground. We did not make it for sunrise or sunset however only could imagine that would be great to take in. Make sure you have everything you need there are no big box stores (Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, ect) close. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Tent Trailer.

Large campground at ferry to Millersburg on Susquehanna. Many seasonal campers with some transient pull thru sites. Roads and sites mostly gravel. Family oriented with ball field, playgrounds, mini-golf, shuffleboard, volley ball, basketball, fish pond and ice cream shop. Mix of shaded and open sites with no privacy. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Use one of the many swings over-looking the ferry landing to enjoy the river view or better yet, take the ferry to Millersburg and walk over to "Williams French Fries" and have lunch including their signature fresh cut fries at a table viewing the village park. On the ride over get the history of the ferry from the captain as he avoids the rocky shallows.

My only negatives on this campground are very fixable. There was only one working washing machine and we only got one channel on the TV. The campground has a beautiful setting right on the Susquehanna River. We were in a back-in site. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Motorhome.

We have been to Ferryboat Campground a number of times. By making reservations ahead of time, we request and usually get a riverfront site. There is fishing and boating, although the river is shallow so a small boat is the ticket and don't forget the prop guard. I caught a 3 pound small mouth from the bank at my campsite last year. There is a small camp store with some essentials. Also they rent or sell tubes and tubing down the rapids is great fun, especially when the water is high. The campground is under new management and we see improvements with every visit. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Family Dollar store about three miles north on Rt 11 and 15. There is a Giant grocery store at Newport, across the mountain of rt. 34. Also there are groceries and drugstores 20 minutes either north at Selins Grove or south at Duncanon.

Campground was confusing to traverse; ant hills everywhere; uneven parking site; it was on a river which was nice. People were nice at the campstore. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

We did not have a good experience at this campground. We stayed at site 247. One positive was that the site was level but very small. Be aware that some sites share utilities from another site. For example site 246's water and electric was on our post so they had to run it across to their site.

Lots of seasonal people here. The seasonal campers behind us left their dogs out all weekend (they barked constantly) and threw the dogs' waste into the drainage ditch between our sites. They also walked through our site to get to their site. Very rude.

We had weak water pressure the morning we were leaving. We called the office and they said they would send someone over but no one came by the time we left.

They also double booked our site, but fortunately well in advance they recognized their error and moved us to another site months before our arrival but we moved from a water view site to a non-water view site. So not quite the same thing.

Occasional sewer smells in the campground. We did see employees with a snake in one of the sewer man holes so apparently there was an issue.

The hayride trailer broke one of its wheels while we were on it. Fortunately no one got hurt. The actual rim separated from the axle.

I received a response from the campground after complaining about the above items. New owners have taken over the campground on August 28th and apologized for the issues we had during our stay. They recognize that there is a lot of items they need to address including the shared utilities, which they plan on updating soon. They also plan to address the rules of the campground including cutting through people’s campsites. They were not aware of the dog issue in the site behind us but plan to investigate. This campground has a lot of potential and hopefully the new owners can make it what it should be. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Not much to do in the area but you are along the Susquehanna River. Unfortunately the water level was too low, so the ferry was closed.

One of the worst campgrounds we have ever been too. Travel with 3 other campers. Made reservations and were told we would only fit in these few sites. When we first arrived it took almost an hour for us to check in. Each of our sites was so narrow we could not put out our awning. As we were walking around, we noticed much larger sites were empty all weekend. The smell from the sewage was so overwhelming, many times you could not go out side. I have to wonder if the Health Department shouldn't be involved.

We have all the discount cards and were told they didn't take them. Also when we arrived, we were told how to log on to the internet. When it didn't work, we were then told they didn't have internet in our area. We had camped at here a few years back and it was run so much better. I see here that there are new owner. That explains a lot. Avoid this campground at all costs. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Motorhome.

The first night was Passport America and then AARP for the next two nights. The site was level and big rig friendly. There were many seasonals but still sufficient sites available. The ferry stopped at the campground to travel to the other side of the lake. There was only one grocery store 10 miles away with no other shopping. Nothing to do in the area but a relaxing campground. Did not use the laundry facilities. No dog park but able to walk dog in campground. Easy to ride bicycle in campground. The view of the Susquehanna River is beautiful. The sites are level, adequate size, 30 amps, FHU and gravel/grassy. The road into the camp is gravel and provides easy in and out to the highway. No road noise. No pool. The price reflects Passport America. Many permanent campers and a large selection of daily sites. Office doubles as small store. We will camp here again. We stopped at this campground in our RV for one night. It has a very nice setting on the Susquehanna River. It is a very old campground and facilities are in need of upgrades. Restrooms and showers are old and not in good shape. While we did not use it, lady at desk told us that internet service was spotty. Cable TV service worked fine. Sites for transient campers are small and close together. This park has a lot of seasonal campers and it appears that they cater mostly to them. We used PA discount-without it, would not have been happy with the price for the quality of the park. Would not stay here again. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Motorhome.

The campground has a nice location on the river. The sites themselves are not that great but mine was level and I had a view of the river. I was only traveling though and only was looking for a place to spend the night. The fee was high for just a quick overnight stop. I think this might be nice if you wanted to spend a few days. I still think it is pricey. I have camped all over out west and never paid anywhere near this much. The east coast is high priced for what you get. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Motorhome.

I came here with my 9 and 12 year old. When we arrived, the staff asked if I knew my site number? They did look it up for me and sent me down the road. Luckily, a seasonal helped me find the spot. There was no picnic table (requested one, never delivered). The power went out repeatedly during our stay. The office accepted the power outage as normal. I would not return to this campground again. Great campground! Spacious, waterfront sites with concrete pads and lots of foliage. Be careful: my GPS brought me in from the East and assumed that the ferry would be a good match for my motorhome. The Ferry holds about two cars and wasn't compatible, but the drive around was only about 45 minutes. We sat on the banks of the river every evening and watched bird, animal and boat activity. We camped here during the week and it was quiet and well-spaced but I've heard it's jam-packed on weekends. The $23 rate is Passport America and is only available on weekdays; on top of the rate is a $4 per day energy surcharge. Credit cards are not accepted nor are checks for PA; however the staff found ways to say "yes" to resolve shortfalls. We will definitely stay here again. Nice enough during the week, but the weekends are bumper to bumper. Very tight! Many tents. WiFi was free and worked well. Although it was ok for a couple of days, probably would look elsewhere if coming this way in the future. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Motorhome.
