13 Parks near Mercersburg, Pennsylvania
Oct 2006 - $20.00
Great location for us, 6 miles from Whitetail ski resort and even closer to the golf course. It's back in the middle of nowhereville, but a nice quiet campground. Did have a playground that my kids loved. Didn't look as pretty as the web site pictures, employees were VERY friendly and saw them driving around camp ground a lot, which makes me feel better. There are a lot of live ins and a lot of people that leave their camper for part time visits but its was quiet. On the Saturday night that we where there we did hear some load music and people but it didn't last long or late, not sure why it stopped but it did. (not sure if employee stopped it or it stopped on it's own) WE WILL STAY AGAIN AND WILL UPDATE AS NEEDED. - suzipittard
Jun 2010 - $30.00
Located in the gorgeous mountains, this place is a gem. There are many seasonal sites here, and that does not detract from the quality and friendliness in the least. The owners are superb. Our power and water were adequate. Our site was gravel and level. There is a nice pool and a little store. - LittleCastle
Jun 2007 - $30.00
Saunderosa is a very nice campground. I have always enjoyed camping there. There are some very nice spots by the creek. The kids especially enjoy playing in the water all day. The pool is adequate but you have to pay extra to swim in it. Saunderosa could use more weekend campsites as most sites are permanent. And the bathrooms also need more attention during busy weekends. - GaryKPA
Jun 2015 - $23.00
We have stayed here a couple of times as it comes at a convenient stop time in our itinerary. The place is really an RV dealership with some campsites in the back. A trucking company is adjacent which has noisy all night operations that can affect some sites. Our last visit occurred when the dealership seemed to have an overstock of units. Most sites and access roads were being used for storage. We arrived around 2 p.m. and only one site was available. Staff was friendly and diligent in making sure we could fit into the space before we paid. No sewer at site and the dump station was positioned on the passenger side of the rig on exit. We didn't bother to try to use it. We would strongly recommend that anyone planning on staying here, call ahead to be sure there will be sites available. - halfdimes
Apr 2014 - $1.00
Sites and common road were somewhat tight for our larger RV and is a muddy mess after any rainfall. Appreciate being able to stay for free to have some service work done on the RV but truly felt like it was only adequate for the price (not) paid. If I were paying to stay here I would deduct a rating point for every dollar per night they charged me. - Snidely Whiplash
May 2011 - $23.00
I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. Not many places honor the Passport rate over a holiday weekend but they do. Lots of noise from I-81. The campground is in one part of the storage area for new and used RV's. I did not see any units that could have been considered used for parts. A short walk found a dumpster to dispose of trash. There is a complete RV parts and service dept. It was an adequate place to stay. I didn't feel like I was locked in or unsafe at any time during my 3 day stay here. - mrracechaser
Jul 2016 - $50.00
Very narrow road getting into the campground. WIFI did not work at all. Other than that, the campground is satisfactory for what we needed, an overnight stop. - UllaPool
Jul 2016 - $39.00
Our site was next to river with shaded trees. There is putt-putt for kids, a pool, lots of flowers. The gravel road was being repaired and level, it needed it. It was quiet and relaxing . We had family come to visit. The manager waived the fee the next morning . This was a good thing . - Chicabunny
Jun 2016 - $52.00
1. Location is near a river/creek and very peaceful environment.
2. Staff was courteous.
now the reasons for only 2/3 stars.
3. showers never had warm water - 2 of us showering at various times of the day for 2 nights.
4. showers were the worst we have ever had. They look like someone said "let's add a shower here" and jerryrigged it to add it in both male and female showers.
5. Mens showers were outside and in a different room than the toilets.
6. Sites are real close to each other
7. maintanence needs to be done on the grounds. Sites are tired and weedy.
8. It's not really as close to Antietam NP as they would like you to believe.
9. We had a pull-thru site but to get out of the site with our tow car, you had to back down the gravel lane to exit area. Pull-thru obviously designed for trailers, not motorhomes.
10. Electricity box too far back on site. It also kept blowing the circuit breaker when we used any electrical appliance. - Ms Winnie
Oct 2015 - $28.00
We stayed for 2 nights during the week, and it was pretty chilly, so the park was sparsely filled. The area is absolutely beautiful. 6 miles off of the main road to the park entrance, and no cell service, so it is ideal to get away. The bathroom and shower facilities are top notch. Very clean, tiled, very nice. We stayed in the "B" Loop. Its sites are less close together, and fewer of them, so it is more private. Also, the entire B loop is dog friendly. We stayed in site 190. It was about as far from the bathroom as any site in the loop, but was across from the water spigot. There is a beautiful lake in the middle of the park. Canoes are available for rent or you can bring your own. - hmmmm
Aug 2015 - $28.00
Cowans Gap is a great campground. The only complaint I had was that there are no water connections at the sites. The campground is beautiful. We stayed in Area B. The sites here are much more spacious and spread out than in Area A, and it is right on the lake. A few of the sites are pull-through. There is only one dump station in the park, in Area A, and there are no sewer hookups. The "beach" is on the opposite side of the lake, and only a short (10 minute) walk away. If I stayed here again I would get either site 184 or 190 due to their proximities to the water spigot. 184 was also a pull-through site. We ran out of water and had to refill the fresh water tank with a 7-gallon container, which got VERY heavy carrying from the water to the camper. - Lori and Larry
May 2014 - $30.00
We spent 3 days at this fabulous state park. No problem at all getting into the park with our 40' 5er. Most sites are short, but there a number of "big rig" sites that are easy to back into. Just check the website for availability. Very spacious as well. Very clean and well maintained with the exception of the dumpsters that desperately needed to be emptied, but it did not detract from our get away. Miles of trails to walk and a beautiful beach. It's electric only but there is a dump station available. Mostly 30 amp sites but a few 50 amp. Highly recommend this park!! - jnlo
Jul 2016 - $36.00
Very neat and well maintained. It is an events site. When you call, they say you do not need reservations other than for special events. We pulled in with no notice and they had lots of level spaces for our RV on a well mowed grassy field with choices of 50A or 30A sites with good water and it seems no Sewer hookups. Friendly manager. A great overnight stop just a few miles off the Interstate. - srfox
May 2015 - $32.00
We stayed at Twin Bridge Campground over Memorial Day Weekend. This was the only campground with a site available at the last minute, and that was only because of a cancellation. If you look at the pictures it looks crowded; however, we stayed at site #48 which was on the creek and there was a decent amount of space between sites. The dogs loved playing in the creek. There was a nice "service" on Sunday with Gospel singers. It was nearby some great state parks. There was a bridge on route 30 we had to pass under which didn't allow much space, so if your RV is large you might want to find another way. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. - Lori and Larry
Aug 2013 - $48.00
This was a cute little campground. They have upgraded to some 50 amp sites out in the field. There were no real amenities but but was a peaceful and enjoyable place to stay. There are some seasonal people there and my kids quickly made friends and had a good time with their kids. The people there were very friendly and invited us over to watch a movie on the big screen that they had set up. There is a creek there that the kids play in. The only downs are no sewer hook up but they do have a dump station and the nicer sites only have 30 amp service. We would go there again as it is a nice and low cost campground not too far from home. - Superiorsvshvac
May 2016 - $37.00
Stayed here one night again, as it is about halfway on our annual NC to NY pilgrimage. Went with a 30/50/W/S/E this time. Site was nice and level, with easy in and out. Love the easy access from I-81, friendly helpful staff, large store ,and propane. We should probably try other campsites in the area, but why fix something that isn't broken. - BounderPounder
Apr 2016 - $37.00
We stayed for two nights because it was close to Fort Frederick, Maryland, which is why we were in the area. Easy on/off from I-81. We were given site #47, which does not get Internet service at all. This may be due to the self-storage building between us and the office. We were in a different location than most of the campsites and it is really just a gravel parking lot. Our site did not have a fire barrel but since we were in a parking lot atmosphere, I did not want to sit outside.
The staff were excellent and they loaned us a Comcast box, which is the only way you can use their cable hookup. It appears that many of the campers live here permanently but that was not a problem.
My husband used the restroom and said it was clean and looked updated.
A word to the wise - there is no Verizon cell service in this whole area. AT&T does work but that didn't help us. Not the campground's fault but something to consider if wanting to stay here.
I would not stay here again. I thought the price was too high for what we got. We paid the same as those down below who did receive Internet service. - CraftCrazy
Apr 2016 - $35.00
Great for easy on, easy off for a night. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Would not stay again unless I needed a place to sleep for a night. - 4950
Jul 2016 - $100.00
Great place. Extensive recreation team to keep everyone busy, as there should be for the price. Some issues: many of the sites are not level at all. Grass not cut for two weeks on preferred spot. For the money, would expect a bit more effort for site upkeep. Overall, great place. Granddaughter loves it. - Pirate
Nov 2015 - $35.00
It's a decent park, but it's really expensive and not really near anything. Not the river, not the battlefields, no mountains. nothing really. The only exception is the C&O canal but you have to bike about 3-5 miles to get on. I grew up in this area and to visit friends and family we stay here, usually in the off season when things quiet down and it's cheaper. No way you get me to pay $100 a night in a CG in Williamsport MD. Ok, all that said, it's a nice campground and well maintained. The staff are pretty friendly although when I had to get LP once I had to actually do it for the fella cuz he had no idea what he was doing. If you don't mind crowds and a very expensive park but have young ones that enjoy the water park and other kiddie stuff then it's a nice place to stay. They must be doing something right because they are booked solid in the summer. However it's really the only game in town. - Way2Roll
Sep 2015 - $50.00
We stayed off season when pool slides were closed and still price was outrageous. Site is very very narrow and unable to have fire as other camper right there. The sites are in a big field with no trees or anything. The entrance was awful for a big rig with narrow drive, and low trees. Overpriced and will not stay here again. We usually would stay on our way to Florida from NY, but there is no value at this price for really nothing open on site. - BOBDEB01
Oct 2015 - $32.00
This park needs some serious TLC. First of all check in was very pleasant. The gentlemen behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. The store offered lots of items and there's a great sandwich counter. The hook ups at our site worked fine. We were close to our neighbor, who thankfully was alone and quiet. Restrooms and laundry need updating badly. The overall look of the park is old and needs a lawn mower and some sprucing up. Needs to get rid of the junk hanging around. It's very close to the highway and we found it extremely noisey. This park has real good potential but don't see myself staying there again. Not worth the cost. - Buckie
May 2015 - $20.00
This campground is worth the stay to see the Old Grist Mill and there is a good selection of deli items and groceries in the store. My site was level and utilities were easy to access. WiFi is excellent. Stayed right after Memorial Day holiday so very quiet. There is some highway noise but could not hear it from my rig in the middle of the park. Just what I needed for an overnight stay and happy to stay another right when rain delayed my leaving. Back in sites have shade. - nanzhere
Apr 2015 - $15.00
We have been coming here for years before the owners that are here now. The store has everything you need. We can grab a sub when we get back and if I don't feel like cooking. What we love is they now have sewer; especially, where your going to be here a couple of months. Don't have to pull off or pay to be pumped. I don't know if it's me or what, but the site width seems smaller. They have enlarged the campground and it seems we are awful close to our neighbor. I asked and was told no but I think they have. The WiFi works when it wants to. I have a back up but it still is frustrating when they advertise WiFi. Anything negative will not prevent us from coming back. These folks go out of their way to do their best. It's just off the turnpike, so snowbirds give it a try. They turned things around and you don't even hear the turnpike anymore.
This is a no frills campground and it's nice to just relax. - C and C
Jul 2012 - $45.00
We were the only vehicle being used. There were a number of abandoned trailers. The swimming at the river was closed and is a hike away from the park. The advertised "museum" is run down and with unused equipment around. The caretaker was helpful. Would not recommend. - User2759
