When checking in, lady said it wasn't paid. Had printed email receipt to prove payment. Site didn't have enough gravel and was water logged and muddy. Also unable to locate black water drain. Swarmed by bugs when outside vehicles. So disgusted we left and went to another campground. Was told they wouldn't refund our other night's stay reserved, would only give raincheck. Have been RV'ing for 9 years and this was the worst site ever. We camped at Montrose Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Our first time camping here in 2016 with our 'new to us' camper and we had hot water issues. The owner was very helpful and came by to help diagnose the problem. He explained what we were doing wrong and we had hot water in no time! The second time camping here in 2017 with another 'new to us' camper and we turned on our kitchen faucet to find the sprayer had cracked from improper winterizing. The owner came to our rescue AGAIN with a used sprayer and even installed it for us! We also did not realize that the sewer setup we had for the old camper was not long enough for the new one and the owner fixed us up with what we needed. The sites are HUGE and each have a nice picnic table and fire ring. The campground is kid-friendly and has a great playground, pool, and even mini-golf. A nice nature trail takes you to a quiet pond for fishing. The store is stocked with necessities and they have plenty of RV specific items as well. This was a very nice, quiet campground off the beaten path but very close to a town that can provide everything that you might possibly forget to take with you. We obviously liked it enough the first time to make a return visit and we will definitely be going here again! We camped at Montrose Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is an error on the listing here for their web site. It is actually www.montrosecampground.net and not .com The closest town is not far and although small, has every type of store that you could possibly need for picking up forgotten items. Be sure to bring sturdy sneakers so that you can walk the trails in comfort. My thin-soled canvas slip-ons were not appropriate. :)

Overall Rating:

We came in late, nearing dark and had a hard time finding this remote campground. Owners very nice and helpful with directions (had to call 3 times on the way). We only stayed overnight and left early, so had little experience, but were told the sites were level. The owner said set up anywhere we wanted, and the site we picked looked as level as others, but it was terribly out of level. However, too late and dark to put any levels under wheels at that point. Otherwise, when you find the park, it is very nice and seems well maintained. We would likely not return, because we wouldn't be staying in the area, and it is too complicated to find from the interstate for just an overnight. We didn't have cell phone service, but surprisingly good TV reception with just our antenna. We paid $30 for just electric/water. We camped at Montrose Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is really a very nice, quiet campground with very helpful owners. They called Passport America for me because I could not find my card. Our fee was PPA but they also charge extra for electric. We only paid $2.00 for the one night but we didn't use our AC. The reason we gave it such a low rating is because of the HORRIBLE roads that need to be driven to get there. They are only 10 miles off I-81 but it took us 30 minutes to get there because of the roads. The "highway" is a narrow, 2 lane road with tremendous ruts and potholes on the edges making the hills a bit dangerous. After leaving the highway, the "blacktop" road is just wide enough for a car to pass the coach if both vehicles drive on the shoulder. We would not recommend this for overnight stays and would not return. If you do go there, be sure to follow the website or PPA directions because it cannot be found with a GPS or Google Maps. We camped at Montrose Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice RV park! Spent two nights here. Nice and quiet. Wonderful fishing pond, free minigolf and a nice pool. Owner and his wife take good care of their campers. Many long-stay RVs and trailers (also people working on the nearby natural gas pipeline) but they were all nice people. Good value for money. Had a nice time here! We camped at Montrose Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This campground is way up in the hills and is beautifully situated. The people are friendly and it was worth the drive. The electrical is metered extra and not expensive. Lovely walking around the grounds and dead quiet at night. The leaves were changing and it was a beautiful sight. We would camp here again if in the area. Passport America rate!! We camped at Montrose Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
