Our spot was not big rig friendly, even though a pull thru 50ft . In order to have more space between the road and your door, you need to be up close to the trees, however, makes it difficult to level with the drop off. Need 6"-8" blocks for front stabilizers. Watch being to close to the trees if you have driver side bump outs, be aware there are trees and foliage on that side. W/E in the middle of the site, double check you have enough line to hook up. #1 Host site, #3 difficult for long rigs to back in due to hill on other side of the road 5 & 6 are right on top of each other if your with friends perfect. #6 best to go in opposite direction to park, #22 very close to the road. 7-13,34, 36 going down/up a steep hill, hence leveling blocks needed. 40 floods. 8, 22,24,38 all pull thru and all face the road. 24/38 at least have some foliage between your door and the road. 42/43 FULL SUN, paved FHU spots, near bathhouse. We camped at Little Buffalo State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Found where people let their kids play only level grassy spot/ride bikes due to paved areas. We heard others enjoyed the pool - $4/ each camper and they have a record of who is camping to get the discount. Weis Food Store - Newport, clean and Brother's Pizza - Newport great food (FF not as big as they said they are though). Heard the Red Rabbit on 22/322 open only on weekends is excellent.

This is probably Pennsylvania's best-kept secret campgrounds. I understand it used to be privately-owned but was taken over by the state. The campground is on the side of a mountain but the sites are dead-on level. A new--when were there--bath house is immaculate. We've stayed there twice in a truck camper and now--having moved into a Class A Motorhome--will be back again. We camped at Little Buffalo State Park in a Truck Camper.

This time of year, the campground is self service. You must make advance reservations. We travel in a 40' motorhome towing a car, so we had picked a pull thru site. These sites are not really big rig friendly. They are not level. The best big rig sites are 1,2,34, 36 and 38. These sites are back in but they are large and level with water and electric hookups. There are also 2 paved handicapped sites near the bathhouse which are meant for folks with handicapped permits. The campground is up a steep hill from the main part of the park which offers fishing, boating, a water park, playground etc. As others have noted, these amenities are not walkable from the campground. A new and very nice bathhouse was built last year. We camped at Little Buffalo State Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

A small compact campground in the PA state park system. Suprisingly, this state park had city water service at their trailer sites. I later found out that this was due to the state acquiring this former private campground. Sites were very level and roomy. Due to the time of the visit, they were not full and the neighbors were nearby but not in your "back yard". Campground Hosts were great, helping out where needed and providing information about the park. Showers/Bathrooms were clean although the showers were a little small. The park had many, many programs and demonstrations that all were welcome to attend at no cost. The hiking trails were great with both challenging trails and easy strolls. Very good park in the PA system. We camped at Little Buffalo State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice, quiet state park, but not many activities. Easy to access, most sites are level, some are not shaded. Some are close together. Clean restroom and shower. Swimming pool and waterpark is one of the best in any state park. Cost $4 for adults but definitely worth it on hot summer days. Pool is in the park about a mile away. We would camp here again. We camped at Little Buffalo State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We love camping at state parks, but this campground was a disappointment. The road was rough and uneven, the gravel campsites were small, the bathhouse was old & dirty, and there was nothing for the kids to do. The hill was too steep and rough for bike riding, there was no flat area to play ball, and there was no playground. The hiking trail was covered in poison ivy. The only positive aspect was that we had electric and water hookup, and that park (other than the campground) was beautiful. There is a very large pool with water slides as well as a spray area for little kids. If you stay two nights at the campground, you get one-day free passes to the pool, which is normally $5.00 per person. The pool is clean, well-staffed, and has a concession area. There is a playground outside the pool area, as well as lots of picnic tables and grill. The pool is one-mile from the campground, though, so it is not something you can just walk to. Too bad the campground wasn't closer to the beautiful pool and lake, where you can rent boats and fish. We camped at Little Buffalo State Park in a Travel Trailer.
