A loading dock parking area with power, water and dump station. First choice for seeing the city. All asphalt, so no dust and dirt. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Motorhome.

First, have your expectations set appropriately before you arrive: this is a parking lot in an industrial area of the city. The purpose of staying here is to be close to the attractions in downtown Philly. It fulfills that purpose just fine. Security is very good. They do have wi-fi but it only works closer to the office (towards the front where you come in) and we were parked at the far end. The guy who runs the place is super friendly as are the shuttle drivers. One thing to be aware of: the hookups will all be at the very rear of your trailer, so plan your hoses and cords accordingly. We stayed 2 nights in site #25-26 with E/W. We would stay here again if we were wanting to see downtown Philly. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

When you exit off the interstate, be prepared for a quick right turn! We took the shuttle to the hospital and then uber-ed from there: $3 and 5 mins to the visitor's center. Get your tickets for Independence Hall, see the Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's grave, Christ Church, Betsy Ross house (it's ok). Catch an uber to Reading Terminal and enjoy all the food offerings. An uber from Reading Terminal back to Campus Park & Ride was $15-20.

It is a urban parking lot so expect no trees and some noise. the shuttle service into Philly and electricity is what attracted here. The power went out on day one, we were told that the breakers are inside the building (owned by the department of homeland security) and they were having trouble contacting some one to come out and turn it back on. After running the generator for 5 hours, still no word on when the power would be turned on, we scrubbed our trip and headed home. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Motorhome.

Campus Park & Ride in Philadelphia is the ONLY place to park an RV in the city. Shuttles run 24/7 to the University District hospitals as well as SEPTA bus, subway, trolley, and train systems. If you're traveling by car, you are 10 minutes from Center City in one direction and the Airport in the other. Rates are $30 to $60 nightly depending on size. Buy 6 nights at once and the 7th night is free. This is a retired trucking terminal with lots of flat pavement and hookups (electricity and water, but separate dump station) situated in an urban environment with lots of cameras and high fences. If you're looking for grass and trees, um... keep looking. They're not here. If you want easy access to and from multiple freeways and minutes from everything while being secure, you're in the right spot! In exchange for the close proximity to the City, there are noises like trains, trucks, planes, helicopters, police, fire... you name it, you get it. It's the City! I'm here now and I've found that parking up to the left in the middle of the U shaped building is a better place to be protected from the noise. As for the cleanliness rating above, it's lots of concrete in the city and trash blows around. It's a fact in Philly! :) We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is an old truck depot with an attached parking lot. RVs back up to the old loading bays. It sounds unappealing, but it's actually pretty nice. The sites are flat, paved, and easy to back in. Power and water are convieniently located. No trees so satellite works very well. No sewer but dump station nearby. Your neighbor might be 3 feet slide out to slide out if the place is busy. The area is fenced with a security gate and 24x7 shuttle drivers. The parking lot is an overflow lot for the U of P Hospital. Around 6:30am cars start showing up and you will hear some doors slamming and horn honking when the cars lock. A train yard is close by and you will hear trains too. But, a free shuttle to the hospital and a $2.25 bus (#42) gets you to all the downtown sites. Being in Philly as opposed to a long drive outside the city is great! Staff are super friendly and helpful. Price is a little high but when the location is considered it's fair. Keep in mind tow vehicle is an extra charge. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Motorhome.

If I were touring downtown PHL, I would stay here again!

Good service, very unique. Shuttle to U of P Hosp complex. Take the 42 bus to Historic area, $2.25 per ride.

Only negatives were traffic noises from nearby train and highway system. This is a former truck transfer warehouse, thus the location. Felt very secure with fencing and shuttle drivers on duty 24/7.

Nice people!

Good job! We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Motorhome.

If you arrive on the weekend, the office is closed Sat. Sun, but the driver on duty will take care if you.

When the office opens Monday, they call you to receive CC info for stay. Very cool, indeed!

Basically this is a parking lot. The location is good (particularly good if you are wanting to be near the hospital as they provide a free shuttle). It is noisy with trains nearby and a highway also. No place but tarmac to walk a dog so not pet friendly. It is also quite expensive. On the good side, the people we dealt with were very friendly and helpful and it was easy to get downtown using the shuttle and a bus. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

$60 per night was for a level concrete-all-around site with full hookups. There are only three full hookup sites (the first site is kept unoccupied to be used as a dump station); the remaining sites have water and electric. All sites are first come, first served. This parking lot (many hospital employees park here) campground is located about one mile from many of the Philadelphia medical facilities including the VA Medical Center and UPENN Hospitals. In addition, all the amenities are close by. It's not much for looks (there are trees along the border fence) but if you're looking for a convenient-to-everything-place to camp and you're going to be out all day, this is the perfect location. Free shuttles are offered to the hospitals and bus stops. The dispatchers, who are the go to people, were very helpful and full of information. AT&T and Verizon cell service were full bars of 4G LTE. We used our Verizon jetpack for internet access as the campground Wi-Fi didn't provide enough speed for our needs. We received 43 over-the-air TV stations and many radio stations. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Couldn't get into a real campground, even 6 weeks in advance, so came here knowing it was a parking lot with full hookups. Points for security, nearness to downtown, strong Verizon and over-the-air TV signals, and offering a free shuttle to public transit. Demerits for short, tight spaces that are hard to get into; noise (next to the train switching yard and 3 hospitals, so lots of clanging and sirens); sewer connection (a foot off the ground, so had to drain uphill); refusal to make reservations (which we thought we had after calling, then told on arrival that we didn't); and pricing practices. Their Good Sam ad, signage and web site all said $30/night, but they charge up to $20 more if you're over 29' (even though all the spaces are the same size) plus $12 for a towed or towing vehicle. I complained and they corrected the web site info. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Fifth Wheel.

Yes this is not a campground but it is a great deal if you travel by RV and want to visit Philadelphia. Restrooms and shower are just OK. Been in worse and been in better. Bring flip flops.

Free transport to Hospital area where you can catch the #42 bus ( $2.25 each way exact as no change provided) and you are dropped off right at Independence Hall. Phila streets are very narrow and I can't imagine driving an RV downtown. Even a car will be tight and parking would be $$$$

We stayed 2 nites and would definitely stay again. Note not all sites have sewer hookup so be sure to ask for an appropriate site. Really only one site that appears to be lower than my RV dump pipe but we didn't need it so don't know how well it would have worked. Train noise wasn't a bother for us. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Motorhome.

We did not actually stay here, since kids were bummed to see it was a parking lot not a camp ground. I knew this but did not think they would care, they did. Also one camper looked a little sketchy and I did not feel comfortable sleeping next to it with small children. Would work great for a couple looking to stay in Philly and not do anything but sleeping in their RV. Would not recommend to a family. If it had been just me and my husband we would have stayed. Has full hookups. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is the only RV park within the Philadelphia city limits. It's basically a parking lot for cars and buses traveling to the local hospital but they have full hookup for RVs so it was perfect for us tourists to get to our venues close by. They even have a free bus that will take us to the closest subway or bus transit system to travel about since parking and driving can be difficult in the city. Saved us a lot of time driving into the city from an RV park outside the city limits. Many RVers use this site when visiting family in the hospital for longer stays. It's not meant to be a fancy resort with pool and park, but for its purpose, it was great since we were only there at night for sleeping. The staff is very casual and friendly and worked with us to help us get situated and around town. Highly recommend if you're not going to be spending much time at the RV park but out and about. Great security there too so no worries about leaving the RV while gone. We camped at Campus Park & Ride in a Fifth Wheel.
