While the cabin I rented for a three week stay was clean and functional, the intermittent sewage smell throughout the grounds was obnoxious and occurred on a daily basis. In addition, the location of the front cabins, including mine, so close to the "jumping pillow" and childrens' playground is not for those seeking a quiet time in a woodsy setting. From 3 PM until dark, children jump and scream. Oh, well. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Cabin.

The KOA in Ruffs Dale left a lot to be desired. We were in site 17 which was not long with the attached tow. The electric was terrible with both legs being poor. At one point, with the air on, we were getting only 107 amps. Turned on the generator and ran everything full blast to cool us down. Our call to the office about the electric went unanswered for about 4 hours. The breaker was replaced but it didn't help. We were able to use the AC overnite when the overall campground usage was diminished. Each site is a gravel driveway with some grass in between and a picnic table. It's in a valley so that intensified the already hot day. There is an algae laden pond, pool, bounce and playground equipment for kids. We didn't even unhook until we were leaving to make it easier to exit. The Wifi was non existent and our AT&T reception limited our use of the Internet. I don't like to write bad reviews because the owners are small business people but one expects a level of service from KOAs and unfortunately this campground didn't meet expectations. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Motorhome.

Moderately remote from Pittsburgh, near the junction of I-70 and I-76. Steep entry downhill to office and campground, with sites terraced on the uphill side of the small valley it is in. As noted, side to side leveling was a bit of an issue. Actually a pretty large CG, but most of it is occupied by long term sites - local gas/oil worker types. Many older campers, but sites were very neat and not built out like some seasonal places can be. A moderate amount of traffic in the evening and early morning as people come from/go to work. Quiet, no partiers. Grounds were well maintained. WiFi on a par with most places, barely useable. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Pros Fishing pond was nice. Pool was nice. Large picnic area. Two separate dog runs, but they needed mowing. Ok for a day or two. We stayed as it was 50 minutes from Falling Water. Cons It was very difficult to level and in fact we never did get level, but just dealt with it. Park needs to re-gravel, it was very dusty as no one really followed the 5 miles per hour rule. Lots of full time people, some trashy, some very nice. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go see Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water" home. It was just so beautiful. It was $30 a person, but well worth it. They have a cafe with good food, and a unique gift shop. Just a beautiful place.

This is your typical KOA park with amenities for the kids: swimming pool, jumping pillow, fishing pond, canoe rentals, playground, and other games on site. Other amenities are a large laundry room, camp store, a pool table in the fireplace room, and dog play area. This particular KOA, including restrooms and showers, is very clean and well manicured. Sites and interior roads are gravel and grass. Sites offer either 30, 50, or 30/50 amps and all appeared to be full hook-ups. There are some seasonal residents in both rv/trailers and some of the cabins, but all appeared to be well maintained and generally friendly and quiet. All utilities were in good working order and our site was fairly level; only needed a little assistance on our end. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

A drive into Pittsburgh using Waltz Mill Road Is a lovely drive. I recommend the Frick Historical Center; Home, Carriage & Car, and Art exhibits all take you a step back in time. The Strip for lunch and browsing and The Grand Concourse (the old train station) in Station Square for dinner.

Great experience. Staff was helpful at all times. We stayed for a week in July and had a blast. Kids loved the jumping pillow and play area. Pool was broke first day, but they quickly had a company out to repair it so the kids were able to use it the rest of the week. Fishing was even good in their pond. We will be back! Very nice KOA. Playground, jumping pillow, fishing lake, etc. The campground is a bit hilly. The site was not level side to side, so I had to use the leveling blocks. But it was otherwise very nice. Spacious. Good picnic table and fire pit. The bath house was close by and it was clean. It was a bit rustic, but it was very suitable. We stayed there for one night on the way back from a two week trip, but we would stay here longer if we came through this way again. Its a very nice campground. The staff was incredible friendly. They had a pirates weekend, so the staff was all in costume. They had an ice cream social the night we were there, which was very nice. Good place to stay. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are not level, not even close. After bending my rear jack and tripping the hydraulic breaker I moved to another site. Managed to get almost level and found the dump connection a foot up a hill from my dump outlet, would not drain. Poor cable. Shade is good and park is scenic but needs some site work. Worth about $12, not $45. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Motorhome.

Nice RV park in the hills but don't if I would stay again. I don't care for the roads in the park. That are gravel and the park is very dusty. My estimation is the park is over priced for the product they offer. The WiFi was great and the sites were level. I am not sure who designs these parks but almost everything is facing south which means you get a hot afternoon sun when you try to sit out. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Motorhome.

This was an overnight stay as we traveled from Ohio to Virginia. There are not many RV parks in this part of Pennsylvania, and there was no alternative based on our route. It was a little tricky to maneuver in a 40' motorhome, as the roads are quite narrow and hilly. We did not use the facilities, so I can't comment on them. The rate quoted is the KOA rate without discount. With the KOA discount it was $49.50, which still makes it overpriced. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Motorhome.

A nice park about 45 minutes outside Pittsburgh not far from the Turnpike. A convenient staging area for those coming from the east visiting Pitt. Sites are on a hill and the tiered arrangement makes for some narrow spots. Staff is very friendly and helpful and accommodated a last-minute scheduling request that allowed us to visit family in the area for a longer time. The park improved over last year, where construction to expand the campground was a nuisance. For early in the season, the complex is looking good. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a great easy on/off highway campground. We were here just for the night and it was perfect for that purpose. We had a nice pull through that allowed us to stay hooked up with our 40' RV and even parked our additional car behind us on the site. It is mostly seasonals/long term from what we could tell. We did not find too much traffic issues inside the park except of course in the morning and evening as they were coming to and from work but was not a concern. Water pressure was good, WiFi was good. We did not hook up cable so we can't speak to that. They had a nice grassy fenced area for the dogs which is a plus. The staff was helpful and pleasant. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We camp with small children and a dog in a motor home. pros. 1. Some of the employees were nice 2. It is relatively cheap. 3. Some things for the kids to do. (playground, jump pillow, swimming pool.) They also had an activity. The cons: 1. This place was dirty - There were a lot of leftover waterlogged socks near the jump pillow from previous jumpers. Also, I noticed lots of cans and trash scattered throughout the park. 2. There are a lot of seasonal campers that seem to work for the natural gas company. They drove their huge pickups quite fast down the gravel roads. Also, at 5AM the campground became quite active and loud. 3.We were approached by one of the employees on a golf cart with another camper in tow. She demanded to know what time we were leaving (at 10:30 in the morning.) I told her about just before noon. Apparently, there was a mix up and they had double booked our site. There were numerous other open sites around our area. She had the next campers pull into the open site NEXT to ours but would not let me set up there. They had to wait until we were gone to move into our site. The whole time they kept giving us dirty looks but we were paid and intended to let our kids have one more jump on the pillow. We needed somewhere to double check some things before we head out on an extended vacation and this place served it purpose. I would not come back here for anything else though. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Motorhome.
