Our site was close the play area which made it nice. We were just up for the play area that helped keep the foot traffic through the site low. The lot was large with gravel drive area. That section has some larger gravel pads. Other sites are not as large in other areas. I think the the price is a little higher for these sites with large gravel pad. But worth it. There is enough space to put up a tent (even a couple!) The gravel lot was long so it easily fit our camper and tow vehicle. and you could walk around the vehicle with space around it. Lots of trees but with some sun coming through, not full tree cover. But varies in areas. Easier to drive to 'day use area' then to walk. Nice trails in day use area. Has some Geocaches on the park grounds. We have stayed in this campground in the same area often. Nice place. Bathrooms are good for state parks. Cleaned daily. Mostly concrete floors and such but expected. Showers were good and warm(hot). Only problem was you couldn't control the temp of the water. Can't get a cool shower if you wanted. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lovely state park! We stayed in site 071 which was spacious, long enough for our rig and toad, and fairly level. Our site had gravel pad and gravel area with picnic table and fire ring. There are a wide variety of sites and many would not be appropriate for our rig because of too small or not level. As long as you review site parameters, it is a great park. We were only passing through so did not use many of the facilities. Lovely lake, fishing and boating (canoes, small boats with electric motors), hiking, etc. If you reserved online, just go straight to your site. The park office only has limited staffing. Dump site was very convenient as we exited and clean. Water available in numerous spots throughout campground but no hookups at each site. Will definitely return at some point! We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground, keep in mind it is a State Park. Pets are allowed in designated areas only; electric in some sites; big rigs in some sites and only 1 pull through site. It is a very clean and well kept Park with a very nice lake. Bath houses are small but well kept. There is a lot of history to see in the area and Bedford is a great small town with very friendly people. There is a section of large graveled sites well suited for big rigs (We stayed in a 40' 5th wheel.) Had good cell service and good MI-FI service. You will only get 2 TV channels on an antenna, but they are very clear. Great for kids with a lot of play and green areas. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park with a lake close by. Most sites in shaded areas with lots of trees. Not too far from PA Turnpike. Signs concerning pet areas were a bit confusing. Bath houses were older but very clean, some were closed because of the time of year. Will definitely return in the spring or early summer. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Motorhome.

Shawnee State Park is located in a beautiful section of Pennsylvania and is well worth the visit. The park has a large campground and a large lake. The lake is about 1/2 mile from the CG. Our site was nice and level (better be, it was an ADA accessible site!) but quite a few sites, especially tent sites, were on pretty steep slopes. Try to do your homework before selecting a site, sight unseen, or you may be in for a challenge. The showerhouses appear to have had some fairly recent renovation, especially after reading other comments. The toilets, in our showerhouse at least, were well anchored and the partitions and shower/changing area walls appear to be pretty new. Showers are push button but run an acceptable amount of time and get hot enough. Hot air hand dryers would be a nice addition. Many sites in the electric area share power posts, so one site will find it on the wrong side. Bring an extension for your shore power cord, you may well need it. We needed almost the entire 25 feet of extension cord and saw another camper setting up only to find he was about a foot short. Some sites also have fire rings and tables on the back side, for some reason. The rangers patrolled often, at least during the time we were there -- Thursday to Saturday. All staff we encountered were very pleasant. There is a swimming beach, concession stand, many picnic areas and at least two boat ramps. We were told that the boat rental concession is not operating this year. The park is along historic Route 30 and there are a number of things to see in the area. We will definitely plan a return trip to Shawnee! We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Tent Trailer.

This is a beautiful state park with lots of trees, a nice playground for kids, hiking trails, and a huge lake for swimming and fishing. The campsites are a nice size. Our site was flat but there are some on hills. The bathrooms were old but clean. The camp store is small but there is a large store nearby that has everything you may need for a reasonable price. The lake has a large beach area for swimming, and it appears you can rent non-motorized boats for fishing and recreational purposes. There are not a lot of sites with electric, and reservations must be made early. No sewer or water services are available, but there are dump stations. Nearby attractions include Old Bedford Village, Coral Caverns, and Gravity Hill. If you are ever in the Bedford area, this is the place to camp! We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful state park located in the Allegheny mountains. Sites are set amongst tall pines and are spacious. Our site was in a newer 50 amp section and was very level and had a large gravelled patio area adjacent to the parking pad. Beautiful lake and lots of hiking trails (easy to moderate) to walk. There are also cabins and yurts to rent. The bathrooms were older and I agree with the previous poster that the toilets need to be anchored a bit better & it would be nice if they had air hand dryers. There is a new upper section of sites going in and there was a new bath house under construction there. This one will be ideal as it is well lit, has nice tile and will have air hand dryers. Hopefully, they'll upgrade the older bathrooms to meet up with the standards of the new one. Rangers patrolled the campground often during the weekend, but didn't see them at all during the week. Although, by the time the week came around, the campground was pretty deserted so probably no need for patrolling. I would have rated this campground higher if the older bathrooms were in better shape. But, all in all, this is a really nice campground to visit. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Motorhome.

Shawnee is a beautiful campground nestled in the mountains. This park offers a variety of camp sites to suit your equipment. If you go to their website, through the reservation process: they will tell you which sites are suitable for your camping equipment. Their sites range from open to shaded and the roads are a mixture of both paved and gravel. We stayed in one of the 3 new camping cottages Shawnee now offers. One of the cottages is ADA accessible. These are the bare-bone type of cottages with no cooking or restroom facilities inside. They consist of a rather large double bed with a single bunk on top (but you can fit two kids in one of these bunks), and then a set of single bunks on the opposite wall. There's also a nice indoor table and benches and two chairs. The cottage also offers a large covered front deck. Shawnee also offers two yurts. There are scheduled activities Thursday through Sunday but nothing for the rest of the week. There are a lot of nice hiking trails within the campground as well as within the state park itself, which are anywhere from easy to difficult. The lake is about 1/2 mile from the campground entrance, and they have boat rentals at a concession area. The swimming beach is beautiful, but is quite a hike from the parking area; going to it is downhill, but going back to the parking lot it's quite a steep climb. They do have a campstore, but the entire time we were here from Sunday afternoon until Thursday morning, we did not see it opened one time. However, there are several places to get supplies/groceries nearby (1 to 3 miles). The toilet area of the restrooms were not in the best of shape. They cleaned the restrooms daily however, it seemed like a lot of the toilets were backed up and when you went to sit on them, it felt as if you were going to fall over; they were not anchored very well. And, there is no soap dispensers or paper towels/hand dryers in the sink area. The beauty of this campground outweighs the problems with it. It is definitely a place I will camp at again. The prices are hard to beat as well as the natural surroundings. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Campground Cabin.
