I stayed here for a week and had to move out of the new FHU sites over the weekend. 308 was the best of the three. This park is a bit pricey for a state park but it is a very nice park and campground. Everything worked fine. Trees may be an issue if you use a satellite dish. I recommend entering the CG from PA 96 instead of having to drive thru the entire park to get to the CG. Entrance is immediately past the overpass on the left if coming from Shellsburg. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Go to visitors center in Bedford for good advise. Good bike trails in the area, flight 93 memorial quite impressive. Some nice shops also in Bedford. Wednesday is farmers market day at the square, in town. Picked up some really good produce.

We spent one night here in a Class A towing a car. We picked a pull thru site. The staff was concerned whether or not we would fit. We are 55' long towing, and their computer says the longest site was 47'. I don't know what they are measuring but we fit with at least 25' to spare. The site is brand new. It was very level and the utilities were in the proper place. Navigating to the site was easy. It's a great, quiet place to stay about 10 miles off the turnpike. It would be a nice place to spend several days. We would come back. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Motorhome.

This review is of the new full hook up sites, Loop B, numbered in the 300's. 13 sites on a moderate hillside opened this season (2017) and are very nice. Although there are mature trees in the section, they are not lush with leaves and other trees in the section are dead and need removed, so most all sites are full sun with sparse shade on some sites. Our site was at least 100 ft long. Although not overly spacious, the grass area between sites was roomy enough (estimated 25-30 ft) as to not feel we were too close to neighbors. The pad and small patio are of fine gravel and it was very level. It had a picnic table and fire ring. One of the seating boards on the new picnic table was already beginning to warp. The fire ring was so new, it was still shiny and had no rust. My observation: the fire ring is too close to the side of the RV. With our awning fully extended, the edge of it was over the fire ring. The sites are near the edge of the park boundary and, as such, turnpike noise is more noticeable during the quiet of night than in the interior/more treed sites. Although once inside our coach, it was not heard. These sites are a nice addition to what is already a popular state park. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park campsites that are a little close for some and a lot of space for others. Loops are marked on a map and some signs along the road to help you find your way. Our spot was very good, level grass area with enough room for a smaller trailer and a large truck. There were the average fire rings with a grill on one side. Fire wood for sale but there were plenty of fallen branches dry and ready for a fire. The bathrooms were clean but quite old looking. Showers were not so good, press button for a short bit of water. Handicapped shower was raised up on the floor for wheel chairs but water from that stall would run under to the other stalls. The dump station is among one of the cleanest and best, We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The rate is the average of the 6 nights we stayed. Weekends are higher than the weekday rates. This is a really nice large state park in a truly gorgeous area of the country! Several picnic areas, beach, lake and many nice trails. Dog friendly with bag stations around the park and several large grassy areas that we found to play catch in when nobody was around. Very quiet during the week, but it tends to get pretty busy on the weekend. With the exception of the new, full hookup sites in the B loop (sites 305-319), I really wouldn't call many of the sites big rig friendly - at least not many I'd be willing to park in. All of the new sites 305-319 are plenty long, with full hookups, but fairly close together and not real level. The best site is easily pull through site 305 being very long, mostly level with a nice large, private side yard. Backin site 314 was also very nice, level and has a private side yard. Our site, 319 was at the end of the loop, so no neighbors, but the road was there, so we had people driving by. On our site, the waste hookup was UPHILL from the site, which obviously doesn't work so well! You are close to the PA turnpike, so you do get road noise off of that, but it wasn't too bad. There are trees close to the road which could use some trimming to avoid hitting larger rigs. We had sattelite reception and good at&t hotspot coverage. We'll stay here again to enjoy this beautiful area. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The flight 93 memorial is a must visit! Great displays and coverage of that horrific day. "Gravity hill" is lame, but by all means take a random drive in the mountains, this area is incredibly beautiful. The Johnstown flood memorial is interesting if nearby and Johnstown itself is a cute little town. Ride the inclined plane!

This state park is about 10 miles west of historic Bedford, PA and well worth the few minutes to travel to it. The park offers a big lake for fishing and boating, trails for hiking, and a good campground. It's also near the Flight 93 Memorial National Park on U.S.30, only about 20 minutes west of the park. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are many historical places in Schellburg and Bedford but our main focus was on the Flight 93 Memorial just up U.S.30. A good place to eat is the Gulf Station Diner on U.S.30. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the restaurant serves great meals.

Great park, there is a large lake with swimming beaches, fishing and boating (no power boats). The camping area is away from all else, there are RV and tent sites, most main roads are paved, RV sites are gravel. Most RV sites are level, gravel and some areas have 30amp, a few have 50amp, most are good size. We have a 42' fifth wheel and can fit in most sites, no water or sewer yet, dump station is very nice. They are adding a new section that will have 16 FHU sites, 14 pull through and 2 back in, very good sized. Expected to be open late 2017. Verizon cell and data were good, no air TV, dish works in some areas. Clean restrooms and showers, over all a nice park. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful campground with easy access to outdoor activities, including walking trail, fishing, and kayak and canoe rentals. Our site was private and spacious. Park Ranger came by at night to warn us of a bear sighting. Our only complaint was that the water didn't work at the sewer dump (although they had potable water nearby). We will definitely return! Our site was close the play area which made it nice. We were just up for the play area that helped keep the foot traffic through the site low. The lot was large with gravel drive area. That section has some larger gravel pads. Other sites are not as large in other areas. I think the the price is a little higher for these sites with large gravel pad. But worth it. There is enough space to put up a tent (even a couple!) The gravel lot was long so it easily fit our camper and tow vehicle. and you could walk around the vehicle with space around it. Lots of trees but with some sun coming through, not full tree cover. But varies in areas. Easier to drive to 'day use area' then to walk. Nice trails in day use area. Has some Geocaches on the park grounds. We have stayed in this campground in the same area often. Nice place. Bathrooms are good for state parks. Cleaned daily. Mostly concrete floors and such but expected. Showers were good and warm(hot). Only problem was you couldn't control the temp of the water. Can't get a cool shower if you wanted. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lovely state park! We stayed in site 071 which was spacious, long enough for our rig and toad, and fairly level. Our site had gravel pad and gravel area with picnic table and fire ring. There are a wide variety of sites and many would not be appropriate for our rig because of too small or not level. As long as you review site parameters, it is a great park. We were only passing through so did not use many of the facilities. Lovely lake, fishing and boating (canoes, small boats with electric motors), hiking, etc. If you reserved online, just go straight to your site. The park office only has limited staffing. Dump site was very convenient as we exited and clean. Water available in numerous spots throughout campground but no hookups at each site. Will definitely return at some point! We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground, keep in mind it is a State Park. Pets are allowed in designated areas only; electric in some sites; big rigs in some sites and only 1 pull through site. It is a very clean and well kept Park with a very nice lake. Bath houses are small but well kept. There is a lot of history to see in the area and Bedford is a great small town with very friendly people. There is a section of large graveled sites well suited for big rigs (We stayed in a 40' 5th wheel.) Had good cell service and good MI-FI service. You will only get 2 TV channels on an antenna, but they are very clear. Great for kids with a lot of play and green areas. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park with a lake close by. Most sites in shaded areas with lots of trees. Not too far from PA Turnpike. Signs concerning pet areas were a bit confusing. Bath houses were older but very clean, some were closed because of the time of year. Will definitely return in the spring or early summer. We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Motorhome.

Shawnee State Park is located in a beautiful section of Pennsylvania and is well worth the visit. The park has a large campground and a large lake. The lake is about 1/2 mile from the CG. Our site was nice and level (better be, it was an ADA accessible site!) but quite a few sites, especially tent sites, were on pretty steep slopes. Try to do your homework before selecting a site, sight unseen, or you may be in for a challenge. The showerhouses appear to have had some fairly recent renovation, especially after reading other comments. The toilets, in our showerhouse at least, were well anchored and the partitions and shower/changing area walls appear to be pretty new. Showers are push button but run an acceptable amount of time and get hot enough. Hot air hand dryers would be a nice addition. Many sites in the electric area share power posts, so one site will find it on the wrong side. Bring an extension for your shore power cord, you may well need it. We needed almost the entire 25 feet of extension cord and saw another camper setting up only to find he was about a foot short. Some sites also have fire rings and tables on the back side, for some reason. The rangers patrolled often, at least during the time we were there -- Thursday to Saturday. All staff we encountered were very pleasant. There is a swimming beach, concession stand, many picnic areas and at least two boat ramps. We were told that the boat rental concession is not operating this year. The park is along historic Route 30 and there are a number of things to see in the area. We will definitely plan a return trip to Shawnee! We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Tent Trailer.

This is a beautiful state park with lots of trees, a nice playground for kids, hiking trails, and a huge lake for swimming and fishing. The campsites are a nice size. Our site was flat but there are some on hills. The bathrooms were old but clean. The camp store is small but there is a large store nearby that has everything you may need for a reasonable price. The lake has a large beach area for swimming, and it appears you can rent non-motorized boats for fishing and recreational purposes. There are not a lot of sites with electric, and reservations must be made early. No sewer or water services are available, but there are dump stations. Nearby attractions include Old Bedford Village, Coral Caverns, and Gravity Hill. If you are ever in the Bedford area, this is the place to camp! We camped at Shawnee State Park in a Travel Trailer.
