Camp here frequently. Nice little lake. Walking/hiking trails are not well tended. If you are not super picky it's easy to find sites even last minute. Bathrooms are decent. Has a beach but I have not used. Good to kayak on lake. - The Hoeys

This place is absolutely gorgeous and a hidden gem that doesn't seem to be listed on any of the websites we checked. We stopped in the area a few weeks earlier to ride the awesome bike trails and stayed at another campground that was no comparison to this one and it was full. We were one of very few camping here and could not believe it. The campground looks like a state park, only better than many. The lake is beautiful and has a huge swimming area although closed the days we were here because it was the end of the season. The mountains are riddled with hiking trails and the Oil Creek Bike Trail, the Samuel Justus Bike Trail and the Allegheny Bike trail (all paved and rails to trails) are within a few minutes drive to a trail head. We were here short term to ride the trails, but if we were looking for a place to stay awhile, this would be it. We camped near the office just because we didn't have AT&T cell signal for data and wanted to use wi-fi and also wanted a view of the lake since it was so quiet. We were able to extend the wi-fi signal using our Ralink antenna from the office to our motorhome. Most of the sites were in the wooded areas and cozy. They seemed to be level. We would definitely return. - busyteach
Jul 2018 - $36.00
Small, new campground with very clean sites. Well positioned water, electric and sewer. High water pressure. Well seasoned firewood available on site. The owner stopped by several times to talk and make sure we didn't need anything and were enjoying our stay. Great fishing in the pond. Extremely quiet and peaceful. A welcomed change from the larger, busy campgrounds we have used this summer. We will be back next year. - Price-man

Powder Mill Campground is like an oasis in the desert... Once you stumble upon it you'll be refreshed for your journey on. Although a relatively new Campground everything was well thought out. Brand new full hookup 50 amp service, great well water with good pressure, convenient sewer location, level sites, Big rig friendly, Plus 4 cabins for rent. They've got everything. There is a lake & a creek nearby, storage units and a wedding reception pavilion. Everything is brand new including the restrooms and showers. I recently stayed there for just four nights, And didn't really want to leave. The roads there aren't that bad for a 40-foot rig. Only about a mile off a major highway, with all paved roads to get there. Easy in easy out. Lakes for fishing, Trails for hiking, beautiful country side view, Peace and quiet. Who could ask for anything more... - _RAY_

This place gives you the impression, that back in the day it was probably good. We were in the only pull thru area, but roads are not wide enough to make turns, had to pull in on 1 spot to get into our spot, spots are not angled so pretty impossible to get out too, without driving over grass, The place is pretty run down and not very well kept at least in the section that is Not Seasonal Campers, where we were. We have dogs and we went for a walk and walked they the park, some one from the permanent section yelled at us no dogs in the park, the park a rules did not say this, but he felt that this was necessary to inform staff. This place at best is worth 20 a night, the view from our sight was facing the back of someone else's shed - User3138
Jul 2017 - $40.00
Crammed in like sardines, they don't take bank cards at Snack shack, no change machine in laundry facility. .25 for three minutes on dryer! Spent 13.00 on one load, left with damp clothes. Our site was literally two feet off the road! Couldn't use fire pit, too close to our camper, 50.00 fine if you move it! Bingo was a rip off, spent 40.00 and yelled bingo but she said she didn't hear me! She said oh well , I guess I'm the bad guy! You couldn't even understand her calling, she mumbled and was a poor individual to be calling numbers. Entire place was a money pit! Not worth the money. Sites were awful!!! Rude front office workers. Do not waste your time or money camping here.Fines for everything, Not a friendly place to camp and relax. - Deb Mailliard
Sep 2016 - $45.00
We love this campground. We camp there yearly. 3 times every Summer. They are always nice, caring and helpful. So many improvements are made yearly. Great stays every time. - Mark and Sue
May 2017 - $33.00
Road getting here is dirt and a steep hill at the last but certainly do-able. Park itself is well maintained with lots of kid friendly things to do. They certainly try to make things enjoyable for families with younger children. The sites are dirt but electric and water and sewer are available. We set up in the rain so it was mostly mud. NOTE: there are posts indicating the site number. I spent too much time trying to jockey the trailer to the side so the slides wouldn't hit them. The posts are made to easily come out and can be laid down to accommodate slides. - PhredFromIL
Aug 2014 - $30.00
A tight fit on the side roads for a 40 ft MH, and the entrance was one lane with some branches scarily close. W/E fine, but sewer was in an awkward place. Sites are grassy and level with plenty of room between sites. Pool closed available, but it was chilly. We had a pull-through site. They have a game room (we didn't use it). We stayed for family in the area and would stay here again, especially in another site and if they trim up the branches a bit more. - TNBlondie
Aug 2013 - $30.00
It is difficult to evaluate this campground. I will mention the negatives first. Coming from Hwy 8, the roads into the campground are quite narrow and gravel. Our GPS did not find the address, so we called for directions. We were here to ride the bike trail but had to drive about 5 miles to the state park for a trailhead. We were in a smaller motorhome luckily. We did not have AT&T nor Sprint cell service, and there was no wi-fi. A few vacant camping trailers at the back of the campground were somewhat unsightly. The owner was very helpful. Although first impressions were not at all good, we did find the park had a pool, play areas, petting zoo, and even a nice fenced dog run. There were many seasonal camper trailers, but they were neat. The sites were grass but mostly level. Other than the happy sounds of a few children playing, it was very quiet. The two mile hiking trail through the forest and around the campground was lovely and linked to the state park. At the end of our 2-night stay, we determined that the rustic flavor was intentional and not all bad. The Oil Valley Bike Trail was awesome. It was paved, level and remote with forest all around. It is surprising that the locals don't capitalize more on their trail to bring much needed funds into this area. We would like to ride the trail again and most likely would stay at the campground again. - busyteach
Apr 2018 - $25.00
The campground is actually located in Clarks Mills, which is close to Sandy Lake. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The sites were spacious and well-maintained. There was a beautiful lake only a five to ten minute walk from the entrance and it is full of fish. Eagles can also be seen nesting nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - John A Guderian
Sep 2018 - $43.00
We went here with less than 24 hours notice due to our other destination being flooded. They had site available for us and friends and were very accommodating on such short notice. Sites we a bit dirty with lots of leave and branches down on the ground. Surface was a mix of gravel, dirty and grass. Our picnic table was very weathered and dirty. We were escorted to our site and offered assistance to back in. Campground is large compared to the number of sites. Lots of room to walk, including a trail that goes out around the back of the campground. Campground is close to many local attractions if you want to get out for a while. We were not given a print out of weekend activities at check in and learned after the fact of the wagon rides, bingo, fishing contests and jump pillow. Mini golf course is in disrepair and should be $1 or free considering. - JillaRoo
May 2018 - $46.00
Front office was friendly. Needed some slight assistance with hook ups and service was quick and efficient. Sites are grass, and due to heavy rains the ground was fairly soggy, but can't do anything about that. Attractive campground with lots of trees & nice ponds. Lots of activities for the kids if you have any. Some low hanging branches with new spring growth, but they trimmed as soon as they discovered the problem. - Ronzo Rig
Oct 2017 - $50.00
Stayed here during middle of week but it was clean, functional campground. The bathrooms near my campsite seemed old but someone obviously uses some elbow grease on a regular basis because the bathroom was spotless. I don't remember my site number but I used 50 amp hookup and it powered my rig with no issues. My only complaint was a utility light near my site that was left on all night. Seemed like overkill for a campground. - RVTraveler69
Jul 2018 - $34.00
Stayed here on our way west easy on and off I80. We needed to kill some time and decided to stay the week. Got a better price- stay 6 nites 7th free. Very accommodating with our site. They let us choose a site with some shade and was a pull through. Plenty of room for our slides and fairly level. A lot of sites were not level at all. Full hook up, no cable and OTA reception was minimal. A lot of seasonal sites but most were well maintained with some fairly newer models. Propane and wood available. Salt water Swimming pool (heated) was clean and well used by the locals. Truck stop off the exit and fuel available. Not much to see in the area but nice to just relax. We would stay here again if in the area. - Donna Rand
Jun 2018 - $36.00
Sometimes we should know better. Arrived after a long day of driving and pulled in to an older park with no one in the office. Finally someone came and wanted to know if we had reservation because they had lost all reservation from some computer glitch. We have a 43' motorhome and they took awhile to figure out where to put us. To get to the site I had to drive all around the park and then pull in to a very tight site. We had enough room just to get one of the slides out. Power and water were fine. Didn't try wifi and couldn't do satellite. We streamed from AT&T just fine. The CG is convenient to I-80 but not enough to get us back. - jeffnbarb
Jun 2018 - $40.00
We stayed here about a month ago, and this place was turned upside down and wasn't so nice. We thought we would try one more time. Our stay this time was absolutely wonderful! The new girl in the office was so helpful nice kind and very energetic! The campground made several things better. Starting with the organization of the office, the cleanliness of the restrooms, the fire pits were all cleaned up, the pool was 500% better. As I was asking around to the other campers I found out that this place is under new management! The dark haired lady who used to work here was discharged. We all can tell how much better it is here. The atmosphere is more family oriented and a much happier place. Imagine even the credit card machines work now! Stop by and check this place out. I'll be bringing my family back here for sure! - Granny camp
Jul 2018 - $54.00
Very friendly people. I arrived late and was expertly guided into my spot. I made a reservation error and the staff solved it for me immediately. Great customer service. We will be back when in the area. Great spot for a family camping trip ! - airstreamerSC
Sep 2017 - $72.00
This is as nice a Jellystone park as you will ever find. The staff is friendly, the grounds are woodsy, and sites reasonably level and large. Lots of organized activities for those who want them. - Charisma1965
Aug 2016 - $37.00
This has just become our favorite (close to home) park. Paved roads, large level gravel sites, nice pool, good playground, excellent mini-golf course. Staff was very friendly and helpful; we were escorted to our site and given help to get backed in since they don't have pull-thru sites. All hook-ups worked well although the water outlet was rather far from the site; we had to use our 50' hose to get connected. The wifi worked well and we were able to get a lot of channels off the antenna. Their dog park had ramps and tunnels and other obstacles which our pups enjoyed much more than just a bare lot to sniff around in. They were constantly working to maintain and improve the sites, although the park was already in excellent condition. There were almost constant activities scheduled for the kids and, even though participation was low during the week, they still put them on. My only slight complaint - and the only reason I didn't give them a 10 -was a $15 charge for a wrist band to use the jump pads, mini-golf and bike rental. If you only have one child, the free mini-golf was pretty much useless and she had her own bike so it came down to too much money for a couple of minutes on the jump pad. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. - SandyA
Sep 2017 - $37.00
We only stayed in this park for one night; we were in a pull-thru and didn't disconnect our Jeep. The gentleman in the office showed us to our site. Even though the electric had a 50 amp outlet, our motor home's meter only showed 30 amps coming through. The man had explained that that might happen, but that it really was 50 amps. Strange. It didn't matter to us that night as it was cold and we didn't need any a/c. There was nothing special about the campground; looks like there are a lot of seasonal rigs parked there. It was not convenient to I-79 so we wouldn't come again. Also, a warning for anyone pulling out onto route 358 (Hadley Road), it is a narrow, blind intersection and the traffic comes at you at 60 miles per hour. - dbcordello
Jul 2014 - $26.00
This is a very nice park; family owned for many years. Staff is very friendly and helpful. After they saw the size of our rig, they willingly changed our reserved site to a larger one and escorted us to it. Many full-time residents but all sites were very well maintained. Lots of trees and plenty of shade but no problem getting large rigs around the roads. The sites are gravel but very level. They even have a flush toilet in the outhouse in the tent area. - SandyA
Jun 2017 - $30.00
nice quiet park next to Woodcock Lake. Excellent fishing, canoeing, kayaking, Trails to walk. Large sites that are not bunched together. - Sonshine Traveler
May 2016 - $27.00
This is a city park that was created by the Corps of Engineers. You can find the park on Recreation.gov but you cannot make a reservation. The campground is open between Memorial Day and Labor Day. There is camping allowed prior to Memorial Day and after labor day on an honor system basis. This is a 1st come, 1st served park except for holidays, when up to one half of the sites may be reserved.
This is an old park but it is clean and well maintained. There are 75 sites with 30 amp electric, the rest have no electric. Most of the sites share electric with another site. There is no water in the campground but there is water as you enter the area at the registration hut. There are no sewer hook-ups but there is a dump station which is free to campers. The restrooms and showers are old but are clean and well maintained.
The campsites are paved but old. Most are flat but some have a severe slope. Several of the sites are wet and muddy after a rain. There is a lot of space between campsites. There is a picnic table and fire ring at each site but there are no grills.
The current rate is $27.00 for Electric and $22.00 with no Electric.
The campground website gives more information.
I would have given a higher Value rating if the restroom/showers were modernized.
This was our first time here and it was very pleasant. We will definitely camp here again. - dmoore1108
