20 RV Parks near Transfer, Pennsylvania

The Shenango Rec Area is a really nice facility. They don't try to pack them in, leaving nice private spaces between the sites. They offer electric in some sites but there are no full hookups available. Trash bins are located all through the campground and all the roads are nicely paved. My only complaint: The dogs. While most dogs were well behaved and quiet, one dog, just two sites over, barked incessantly. It was making us upset to the point we were going to report the owners but we didn't. We will use this campground again. A reminder to all seniors. June 30, 2017 ends the one-time $10.00 fee for a lifetime pass to all the national parks and most federal parks. The senior pass is good for the cardholder and three others in the vehicle. Our campground site at SRA was half price! - Have Camper-Will Travel
Jul 2016 - $12.00
Friendly staff, all that one expects from the Army Corp parks! Clean site, facilities. Senior pass rate always a welcome value.
OTA and Verizon both good. Stayed two nights and was so pleased I stayed another two.
Will be sure to return yet again. First come sites are great for travelers! - Wicked Witch
Jul 2016 - $24.00
This is an old Army Corps of Engineer campground that is in need of upgrading. Of the 321 sites, only 109 have 30 amp power. There is no 50 amp electric or water at the camp sites, however you may be lucky enough to have a site close to a water hydrant that you could tie into with a "Y" or "T" adapter. There is no sewer at any site although there is a dump station with two access points.
The electric sites are situated very close together. The non-electric sites are more spacious, especially those that back up to the water. Those are lovely sites if you want to/can boondock.
If you camp at an electric site, plan on taking leveling blocks with you as many will require side to side leveling. Also you may need blocks for your rear stabilizers because some of the sites "drop off" in the back.
The restrooms/showers are very old and need major refurbishing. The restrooms were clean and serviced regularly, we didn't use the showers.
The rates vary for the campground: Electric-$24.00; Lakefront non-electric-$21.00; Other not-electric0$19.00; and Multiple Family Site-$34.00. They do accept the "Golden Access" and "America the Beautiful Access" cards which gives you a 50% discount.
All in all, it is an okay campground and we will stay there again. - dmoore1108
Jun 2017 - $60.00
This park was packed when we were here on a weekend. Most sites are seasonal but they are for the most part neat. Our site was a pull through, plenty long and all level concrete. Roads are curvy, hilly and tight. Biggest drawback are many golf carts. Roads are too narrow for them running around along with people walking and vehicles coming and going. I can see need for them if someone is disabled, but most could benefit from the walking. Only one wifi pass per unit. Cable and other utilities work well. Lots of shade in most sites. - padre
May 2016 - $56.00
Single lane registration in front of office. Possible bottleneck for incoming traffic.
The office is shared with the most complete and well-stocked campground store we've seen to date. Very friendly lady checked us in. Escorted to site.
The campground is very hilly. You are either going up or down no matter where you are in this park. Surprisingly level site. No side-to-side leveling was needed for us, however, we did notice many of the seasonal units were using multiple blocks on one side. This park has a ton of seasonal units throughout. Some look well cared for. Others...not so much.
Water pressure was 60 psi. Power was good. Cable was poor. Not sure if that's a problem throughout the park or just a bad hookup at our site.
The wifi signal is weak and how they manage it is disappointing. You are given an individual password at check-in that allows you to access wifi on only 1 device. Do not use your phone on their wifi. The system will detect it and lock you out. If multiple members of your party want to use wifi on a tablet or laptop, you're out of luck. The password registers the first device and will not allow other devices to join using the same password. Hugely disappointed with their approach.
Put on your hiking shoes because you'll need them just to get around this park. We were located where they put short-term campers (400 Loop) and, from there, everything is up hill. Literally. On a positive note, you'll get in some aerobics walking up to the Snack Shack.
The Snack Shack offered a variety of food items. The pizza was decent.
Daily rates are on the high side, but that is something we've noticed with campgrounds that are only open part time. There's a need to generate revenue during the short camping season.
Overall, a very nice campground. We've read many positive comments about Shenango Valley and wanted to give it a try. Glad we did. - The Other John Doe
Jun 2015 - $54.00
Updated "weekend sites" with larger, level concrete pads, general landscaping upgraded, most seasonal sites in great condition, fully stocked camp store, large wood fired boiler type heating for the near Large pool, adding considerable new section onto park, promises to be very nice next season or so... - mkekflyers
Sep 2017 - $18.00
FHU, 50 amp, pull-through site. 17 OTA TV stations available, excellent WIFI though the park is fairly empty since we arrived after Labor Day. Many seasonal rigs here and the roads are somewhat narrow and turns are a bit tight for our rig and towed vehicle but manageable. Staff was very helpful and friendly particularly warning us about using the printed directions in our Passport America book rather than GPS. Actual rate was $17.50 for the night. Site could use some leveling since it sloped to our left. All the picnic tables appear to be brand new. We would return if in the area. - Bob & Stephanie
Aug 2017 - $26.00
This was our first stay, traveled 2 hrs, campground had a lovely country feel even had Amish come in to set up bake goods, but staff hardly saw, but those I did, I didnt care for. Store assumed we knew where everything was. Someone I assume was staff spoke rudely to me and my 2 kids for sitting on playground riding animals that we had just taken a picture on - we will not return due to her rudeness. Had to buy a floor jack 1st night to level out our trailer because site was to unlevel. Power went out twice. Activity equipment was rundown or broken, no planned activites, fishing pond dirty, pool was nice but smokers. Store was basically obsolete. They need to update the place and their staff if they want to be a resort. No Thanks...what a shame. - mother 211
Aug 2017 - $18.00
Rest rooms were clean. Picnic tables were like new. Sites very close. A lot of permanent residents. Sites for overnighter are very unlevel. With my motor home I had One wheel off the ground due to the slope of the site. Well covered with trees. I was told I'd get satellite reception but I could not. Road coming in was very narrow. - PWMC58
Sep 2017 - $37.00
We only stayed in this park for one night; we were in a pull-thru and didn't disconnect our Jeep. The gentleman in the office showed us to our site. Even though the electric had a 50 amp outlet, our motor home's meter only showed 30 amps coming through. The man had explained that that might happen, but that it really was 50 amps. Strange. It didn't matter to us that night as it was cold and we didn't need any a/c. There was nothing special about the campground; looks like there are a lot of seasonal rigs parked there. It was not convenient to I-79 so we wouldn't come again. Also, a warning for anyone pulling out onto route 358 (Hadley Road), it is a narrow, blind intersection and the traffic comes at you at 60 miles per hour. - dbcordello
Jul 2014 - $26.00
This is a very nice park; family owned for many years. Staff is very friendly and helpful. After they saw the size of our rig, they willingly changed our reserved site to a larger one and escorted us to it. Many full-time residents but all sites were very well maintained. Lots of trees and plenty of shade but no problem getting large rigs around the roads. The sites are gravel but very level. They even have a flush toilet in the outhouse in the tent area. - SandyA
Aug 2017 - $58.00
This is by far, the BEST campground we have ever stayed at. It is absolutely beautiful. In the woods, large, gorgeous trees all around. It was meticulous. There were many full timers there and ALL of them had gorgeous set ups. Everything was immaculate and well cared for. You can tell that the owners of the campground and the residents take a lot of pride in their site. There were play grounds and a pool and everything looked brand new. It was easy to get to, easy to navigate, perfect amount of space, excellent hook ups, people were very friendly, very quiet and very beautiful. If I could give it 11 stars, I would. - Monica C
Aug 2017 - $38.00
Very quiet park. Owners very accommodating. Lots of well kept seasonal. Heated pool, stocked catch and release pond, playground. Security card gate. If you have a long rig, take it very slow off of the road into the park. Would return if in area again. AT&T service good. - On the way
Jun 2016 - $34.00
This is a very nice campground. Everything is well kept and clean. Nice pool and playground. Our site was fairly level, adequately spaced and not hard to get into. We had an escort, Joe, who took us to our site and assisted with maneuvering in. He was friendly and knowledgeable. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. They even deliver ice and firewood to your site for a fair price. They do their best to make you feel welcome and appreciated.
The only down side to our site was a large tree with roots that extended into our door area. Since there was a dry spell the roads were very dusty. Both were mild irritations not problems.
The transient and seasonal areas are separate. We found the seasonal people to be quite friendly. All of their sites are tidy and kept to look like they are part of a campground, not a trailer park.
We would camp here again without hesitation. Our week there was very pleasant.
We camped here in a travel trailer. - Stephen20
Oct 2016 - $31.00
Super friendly staff/owner. The facilities were OK basic showers and restrooms.
This park has a lot of semi permanent residents who don't keep their sites the cleanest. The person who was in my site prior left pieces of lumber, flip flop and bits of trash everywhere.
Given the fact that the owner was super friendly I would stay here again. - ETCTA
Jun 2014 - $31.00
We had no problems with tight spaces, our pull through was long and wide. A very nice and friendly campground, will stay here again when in the area. - DRF
Sep 2012 - $25.00
We were caught in heavy rain, which slowed us to the point that we could not make it to our planned campground. We called Hubbard and they confirmed they had large, open, level spaces for a 40' motorhome. We arrived after dark and discovered this was a campground we had been to some 10 years earlier in our new 38' MH. We got stuck, the sites were so out of level our jacks would not level us enough to open slides and branches scratched the sides of our new MH. When I recognized the campground we left in a hurry. I wish they had been truthful about the condition of their campground. We spent the night at a nearby Flying J. - we_rv
Jun 2017 - $28.00
Camp sites are mostly small and grass. It had rained hard the day of our arrival and many spots had several inches of standing water. - dbng
May 2017 - $43.00
I happen to really enjoy the Pennsylvania State Park system. My first camping as a youth was with my parents in a tent. We always camped in Pa parks. It is nice to see the upgrades. Particularly with W/S/E in the Pa park system. We camped in the first weekend in May. Any time you camp above I-80 you can expect chilly weather...especially in NW Pa. WE had some rain and our site happened to do well. Campers across and below our site did not do so well. Our site had water / sewer / and electric (20/30/50 available. Our site was clean, though the fire ring was a mess with unburned trash. Backing in wasn't too terribly difficult. Though the angle required help from campers next door. Our site only required minor blocking to level the camper side to side. A lot of gravel was present. Our table was new, and our site was decently big. Our closest neighbor was on the drivers side of our camper, so no problem there. The site was big enough for our drivers slide out and canopy to be easily extended. We did not feel crowded at all. Water pressure was good, electric box was modern, sewer opening was all in a very convenient accessible spot. We were in the dog friendly section and no problem with other animals. We were able to get our dog on an abandoned rail system across the street. We like to let him run unleashed when possible. Pymatuning Lake was 200 yards away so we got to let him swim in the lake. The lady at the office was courteous and helpful. Other than the rain it was a great stay. We will be back. - Steverino
Aug 2015 - $28.00
The lady at check in was wonderful, cheerful, and super helpful. My site was loaded with dog poop, including in my fire pit. I enjoy camping with dogs, and do not understand irresponsible owners my flight was loaded with dog poop not including in my fire pit. The site should have been looked at by staff. Camp host were nowhere to be seen in the 3 days I was here. Bathrooms were OK. Could use some bleach but generally OK. Price kind of high for what it is. - TwoDogsCamping
Aug 2012 - $25.00
We stayed one night on our way to NY. The grounds were neat and clean. The eight pull-through sites did not have sewer. There were bees inside the electric box when we hooked up. The 30 amp electric tripped when we ran the microwave and coffee pot in the morning. There were some low hanging branches on one side of the road going out. We would not stay here again. - D&R
Jun 2010 - $25.00
Traveling on the I-80 we needed an overnight spot and this was perfect. Beautifully kept large grassy park with a lake and facilities to large gatherings, spots for long-term visitors, and a large grassy field for pull through overnighters like us. Perfect. Lots of elbow room and a friendly staff. The owners are working to improve the park and decided to not sell it to developers and keep it as a park. What a good thing. The WiFi doesn't work on site but our Verizon phone worked good and satellite TV on the roof came through so we were happy. We were charged $25 but asked that if we used our AC to come back to the office and pay another $5. That was fair. We will certainly stay here again for a night or two if traveling though the area. - Bearpaw
Apr 2009 - $25.00
Lovely setting and friendly host. This was an excellent, quiet setting for an overnight stay in one of their pull thrus. The water and electricity functioned properly. We enjoyed our stay. - classy
Sep 2006 - $26.00
This was our first trip in our RV. The owners greeted us upon our arrival and escorted us to our site. Staff stayed with us until we were level and hooked up to the water and electric. There was heavy rain the day we arrived to the point that there was local flooding in some areas. We were still able to walk around the grounds without too much difficulty, athough some sites were waterlogged. Bath houses could use updating. Pool was clean and clear but weather prevented us from using it. Only complaint was a camper came in and reversed parked in the pull through site next to us with their door facing ours. The camp ground could have moved them over a site or two but put them next to us. Prior to departure a honey truck service was provided to empty our tanks. Owners were very friendly and helpful. There were a large amount of seasonal sites at this campground. - dpgllg

Are members of Travel Resorts so stay was free. Large grass spaces. Relatively level large sites. Pool is reasonable size and clean. Lifeguard and pool toys for the kids. WiFi signal was OK at our site. Well stocked camp store. - Tireman9
Sep 2016 - $50.00
Great place to stay. Staff was helpful. Only thing that would make this place better would be pull through sites for those quick overnight travels on the way to other locations. - krp2nite
Jun 2016 - $1.00
Bathrooms are a bit run down, but clean. Grounds are clean and well maintained. Old water works and the indoor pool is removed, but the outdoor pool is renovated and nice. Park staff is excellent. Wifi is poor. - Donulus
