Nice small, comfortable, well kept campground if you plan on visiting the canyon. Only 28 sites - sites 22 thru 28 have electric, shared water and are spacious. Sites 23, 25, 27, 28 are dog friendly. Good wash tubs outside restrooms for dishes or clothes. We camped at Leonard Harrison State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a great park to hike down to the canyon via the Turkey Park trail which is rated strenuous - take that rating seriously! It's worth it, just know your strengths and weaknesses-be prepared. There is a great rails to trails bike trail at the bottom but it is accessed outside the park. Will stop on our way in next time to ride it. Also, go to the Visitor's Center and watch the very informative documentary films on the CCC.

Would give it a higher rating but no cell or internet service. Mostly level sites. Some a little hard to get into with a big rig. Great dump station and fresh water setup. Nice bath house. Shares parking lot with the main canyon visitor center. Gift shop and education center. The place to go and stay if you want to see the canyon. I would go there again. We camped at Leonard Harrison State Park in a Motorhome.

Leonard Harrison state part has a rather small campground. A campground map is available from the Pennsylvania State Parks web site. All non-electric sites are among trees. Sites 12, 14, and 19 are among some tall pine trees and are great for hammocks. The electric sites (except for 23 and 25) are in the open. Avoid site 6, it is right next to the pathway to the bath house. The bath house is fairly new. There is only one shower in each of the men's and women's rooms. There is a family rest room that also has an accessible shower. We camped at Leonard Harrison State Park in a Tent.

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This small state park is reached via some narrow and hilly roads out of Wellsboro. There are only about 6 sites with 30 amp service, and the rest are dry camping sites. The rate shown is for an electric site with a senior discount (do not need to be PA resident for the discount). There is one bathhouse for the campers. Sites were on grass and our site was a convenient pull-through. In early June, the area was quiet and very laid back. The developed overlook with views into the canyon is free and spectacular. This is an excellent spot to stay while bicycling (or hiking) the 60+ mile long Pine Creek rail-trail in the bottom of the canyon. We biked to a couple of pretty villages in the bottom on a stone dust trail. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn't mind staying again sometime. We camped at Leonard Harrison State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very clean state park. The bathroom facility has a "family bathroom" which is wonderful when camping with two small kids. The playground was nice too. Also we had issues with our electric and the ranger was very helpful, even though it turned out to be a problem with our trailer and not the site. I would return another time. We camped at Leonard Harrison State Park in a Tent Trailer.

One of this full-timer’s favorite parks. It’s well off the beaten path and has only a half-dozen electric hookups. Water is obtained from several shared standpipes, so bring your own or many lengths of hose. The solitude and gorgeous scenery at this state park, which is located on the rim of the “Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania” more than make up for these minor inconveniences. If you enjoy the outdoors, this park’s for you. We camped at Leonard Harrison State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful, small state park on the east rim of the Grand Canyon of PA. Pine Creek Gorge is a 5 minute walk from the campsites. 2/3 of the sites are non-electric, and 1/3 of the sites have 20/30/50Amp service. Water standpipes are numerous, but none are dedicated to any one site. Bath house was clean, and cleaned daily, but only 3 showers total. The scenery is fantastic and the sites are level and large. We camped at Leonard Harrison State Park in a Tent Trailer.
