The positive: easy to make a reservation (by phone), close to town and services, very good WiFi. We had a shady spot which was great during the heat wave. Fine for a short stay. Room for improvement: our site had tire ruts that need to be leveled and filled. There is not a picnic table and the grass is poorly maintained. When we arrived the neighbor's pick up was parked in our space. A management person should survey the park and assure that a camper's space is clear. Some of the sites large enough for an RV do not have sewer. Residents and campers are allowed to park vehicles on the road which makes access difficult for larger motor homes and 5th wheels to access road and campsites. We never saw a park management person or employee during our 5 night stay. Reviews from over a year ago mention improvements going on. Aside from those mentioned then we did not see any additional improvements. The remaining manufactured homes need cleaning/maintenance. They are sad eyesores. Would we return? Maybe. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.

Since this is the only park available to visit family in York, we have to choose it. It is self check-in registration. The owners do not live on site. The sites are difficult to determine since they are not defined. We've never experienced this at any other park across the country. Power and sewer is a distance from your so called site. Make sure you have two sewer hoses. Sites are dirt with a little gravel scattered and very unlevel. Old concrete pieces from previous trailers are still there and don't fit RV tires. We have wood under our tires and still couldn't get level. The most level sites are along the highway on a curve where trucks use their jake brake. Sleeping is very difficult. There is grass between sites with large dirt patches where others have had mats too long. Grass is usually long and mowing is infrequent. Money was spent to build an over the top fountain and an events building instead of upgrading the RV sites which is what RVers care about. There are still three trailers that are in very poor condition. It could be a decent park if care was put into the sites which desperately need help and trailer owners were made to paint their trailers. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.

Year round park. Good wifi. New activities building. The park is undergoing a change from being a mobile home park, our site was gravel, but sloped towards the back. There was still plenty of room for our 35' motorhome to be fairly level, but this made it a long run to the sewer which was at the very back of the site (needed 2 hoses). Close to Harley Davidson etc. for tours. The new owners are working hard to make your stay enjoyable. Park stays full, we had the choice of only 2 sites, so call ahead. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.

Try Isaacs on the Fly for a superb grilled sandwich. We toured the Harley Davidson plant, would have visited Hershey chocolates, but it was about an hour drive.

We stay here when visiting our daughter's family. Friendly, small park. Making lots of improvements with aim toward becoming an "event spot". Grandchildren liked the waterfall, firepit and swings. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I have mixed feelings on this Campgroud. First the good. Sites are ok. Beautiful club house and fountain. Paved roads. Price is great. Now the bad. Highway noise, no site prep, ugly mobile homes, no on site management so the 5 mph speed limit ignored. I understand that this Campground is in transition from mobile home park to RV park, but it makes me wonder from the money spent on the club house if the owners are serious about being a Campground as our site, and most of them, do not even have picnic tables! I would hope that they will continue to improve the sites as they need gravel and leveled. Would we return? Maybe. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.

What the campground doesn't mention in it's attraction section is the York Heritage Rail Trail is only 10 mins away and it is a beautiful rail trai for biking, hiking or just to take a walk!

Small, family owned RV park on western outskirts of York. As is typical of an older RV park, the sites are close together and it borders a busy road (I-30). I ranked it on the high side, though, because of convenience, outstanding service, clean facilities, and recent improvements. I have been coming here for three years and the owners know me when I call and do their best to accommodate my requested site. They live on an adjacent property so are available if needed. I see improvements and new touches every time I visit. They recently finished a large club house that has a patio and other nice outside seating, including some swinging seats and benches in the shady, grassy area across the driveway. There is a large, rocky water feature next to the patio and a beautiful view beyond of Pennsylvania farmland and hills. They often host RV clubs and other groups in the park and I imagine the new clubhouse will be a big draw once more groups discover it. Two large, handicapped-accessible, single-use bathrooms are kept immaculate. There is an on-site laundry room. Most sites are gravel and pretty level. Plenty of over-the-air TV channels. Verizon signal strong. A discount is given for a one-week stay by giving the 7th night free, bringing the cost down to $30/night. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a fair amount to do in this neck of the woods. Gettysburg is less than 30 miles to the west; the Harley Davidson factory (they give tours) less than 10 miles to the east; Lancaster another 30 miles further east. Walmart (a personal weakness of mine) is less than 5 miles away.

This park is small with narrow paved roads. Asked for a pull through site but entrance to site was blocked by neighbors truck as they had no place to park. Our site 29o was an old broken concrete slab making leveling difficult. Arrived after hours but I phoned and they had my paperwork waiting outside of the office. There is considerable highway noises at all hours. It rained and there was mud where we parked the truck. Which was tracked into truck and RV. We did not use bathrooms or showers. They finished a beautiful community building and have a large rock formation at entrance. They need to spend money on cleaning up the park. Our site was near the side and our view included piles of gravel an old shed and equipment. They should spread some of the gravel on the muddy sites. We noticed these men banging around a building 100 fleet from our site. They were just watching us when we were outside. I looked it up and discovered it was an inpatient rehab center. We felt uncomfortable after that as they were always watching us. The staff at registration was very friendly and helpful but this park still needs work. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We called a day ahead to ensure they had a site for us. When we arrived we were assigned a W/E site in the open "field" in the center of the park.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. Certainly the price was right, but I had hoped we'd have had a full service site (for the same price).

The sites in the "field" are a bit up and down, but it wasn't difficult to level our TT.

Dump "station" is a small site on the perimeter road, not a proper dump station with water and an area to wash down any spills from dumping. It was okay but a larger rig might have trouble getting to the site. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Parked 44 ft motorhome on grass/gravel; nice clean park and owners are on ground and courteous. asphalt roads inside park, and narrow. We had FHU; Not an excellent park, but good price and convenient to shopping and attractions and clean. They are gradually improving. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.

A basic affordable park in a very convenient location for exploring York. The restrooms/showers were new, modern and very clean individual rooms. There were some permanent units, some better than others. The WIFI worked for us and we got several OTA TV stations. Our firepit was full of garbage and we did not have a picnic table. Our site was grass & dirt. Highway noise was significant, but otherwise the park was quiet and peaceful. Personnel were very pleasant! Pull-throughs look pretty uneven. We would stay again if in the area as it is affordable and in a good location. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Just finished up a week at Ben Franklin. This is a smaller family-owned park. Used to be a mobile home park, but is gradually being shifted over to a full-on RV park. Only a couple of mobile homes left. The family members who are running it are working hard and doing a great job. They just have a ways to go yet. Mix of back-ins and pull throughs. Variety of site lengths. Sites not clearly delineated, but you can figure it out. Utilities worked well, although the sewer was a stretch for us. No cable. Only a few shaded sites, so satellite worked well. Good water pressure. Convenient to York - especially the west side. There is definitely highway noise. It is right up against the ramp from old US 30 onto Bypass 30 and the truck jake brakes can be pretty loud. Other than that, we would encourage you to give these folks a try! Let's help them be successful! We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Small family owned and run park just off US30. Due to the RV Show in Hershey this was the closest we could get to Harrisburg. Took a spot with water and 50 amp electric, no sewer. Grass spot that is need of serious leveling but I positioned so that the jacks would level the MH but can't open my awning due to the flag pole. Park appears to be quiet. There are signs up that the road is closed but the park is located prior to the road closure. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.

Agree with comments from earlier reviews. Would definitely stay here again as a stopping point going to other locations either north, south, or west. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Regarding the Family Friendly Park rating, the owners continue to add to the campground, so I expect there will be more available for children in the future. The campground is located close to a major highway (US Hwy 30) so there is a bit of traffic noise. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.
