By far one of the best campground we had. Each morning there was a large group of Park Rangers came by cleaning the bathroom and shower (I think there were like 6 people cleaning both) and the effort definitely showed. The only "issue" was that the dish sink was quite far away. Normally it wouldn't be an issue, but we were cooking mussels and other fishy food, and didn't want to dump it down our own sink. We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Price quoted in Canadian dollars. My only negative about this park was the dirt roads to the campsites were littered with potholes. The staff manning the gate and the offices were very polite and friendly. We had a FHU site in the woods close to the sandy beach. W/E and dry sites are also available, some in an open area with a clear view of the St. Lawrence Bay which at this place appears as a vast ocean. We were able to make short notice reservations spanning a holiday weekend when other commercial campgrounds were full. The wooded sites were all pull-through with good spacing between. Firewood iss available for about $6.50 for all you could stuff into a burlap sack. This is a great place for families and older couples as well. There are coin-op laundry facilities on-site. Bath houses and restrooms were scattered among the loops and none were very far. There are 6 tent sites on a separate loop. We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Miles of bicycle paths in and around the park, some through the woods, others along the shoreline, some were paved. Long sandy beach with stretches of breakers crashing on shore with areas designated for swimming, others better used for building sand castles or reading and watching the surf. Many shops, restaurants and amusement parks just outside of the national park in town. Some of the restaurants have limited hours and the amusement parks close after the Labour Day weekend.

This is a beautiful park located on the NE tip of Prince Edward Island. We was fairly easy to maneuver to our spot though a couple of turns were tight. We had a lovely pull through with full hook ups and a view of the beach across the way. There was ample distance between campsites and the wooded arena gave us a private feeling. There was great beach access and we enjoyed the bike trails. Since this campground is somewhat remote, access to stores and gas stations is a bit of a drive. The price quoted for the campsite is in Canadian currency so this is quite a value for a full hook up spot and does not include the roughly $50 you will pay for the toll to return to the mainland on the bridge. We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Enjoy the beach and the biking and hiking trails. We did a day trip to Charlottetown and enjoyed the shops and restaurants. Warning: PEI roads are generally windy, narrow and bumpy. Also, you can dry a load of laundry for $1 for 45 minutes vs the $2 posted in the campground laundry.

What a wonderful experience we had at this campground. Our campsite was a short walk to a beautiful beach. Geography at campground is mostly level and moderately wooded. Sites are level and site size's seem to alternate from very large/deep to small. Our site was just long enough to get into but I was aware of this when I booked. Bathrooms/showers kept very clean with large modern facilities. Not much of a camp store. Our 30 amp full hookups were in good working order but I had to do some creative plumbing to get the sewer line to drain correctly. Good signal on our Verizon cell phone. Campground roads are easy to maneuver which had crushed stone. Campsites that we noticed had pea stone. Staff was professional, friendly and informative. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone. We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you enjoy biking this is the place, miles of easy riding, scenic trails at both Cavendish and Stanhope national parks. I would also recommend kayaking the Trout River In the town of Stanly Bridge, very scenic! I would also recommend eating at the Blue Mussel Café in North Rustico and for lunch the Pidgeon Coop Diner in Kensington, delicious lobster rolls made on home made rolls!

We really enjoyed this park. Several of comments from past are rectified. Check in area enlarged, Bathrooms either updated or new, not sure witch, clean laundry facilities. Almost all of the pull troughs are very long and plenty wide for slides. There at a few where the vegetation makes it too narrow for slides. We were in site A101, beautiful site. Only problem is it is listed as Full hook-up, and there is no sewer connection. There are 3 sites in a row with this problem. Check in is aware and rebated 1 nights fee. We thought the beach at Stanhope was much nicer than Cavendish. Its a beautiful drive over there and you will probably go over that way just to see the sights. We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

We were at Cavendish over Labor Day weekend. We anticipated that it would be full and there were a lot of folks in the tent camping area, but the serviced area was nearly empty. We had empty spaces next to us the whole time we were here. The sites were long with plenty of room to park the tow vehicle either in front or behind. The site (A25) was quite level and nice woods around.

Negatives: the signs indicate that you are to pull into a parking lot while you register. the parking lot is about 50' wide and maybe 75' long. When we got here, there were already other motorhomes parked, so we pulled past them all, but getting a 43' motorhome turned around in a 50' space with other vehicles around was "interesting."

The other negative was how much poison ivy was growing around the campground and right next to our site. I guess it is "natural" so not advised to kill it, but it was annoying to have to be so careful to avoid it and make sure our pets avoided it too so we wouldn't get the oils on us from them. We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

This big (200 spaces) national campground is laid out in fairly dense forest, with pretty tight spaces (couldn't extend our awning more than about 3') and adjacent to the white sand beach. Access to the beach is easy, as are the shower facilities; several good hike/bike trails throughout; fire hose stations set about the campground. Great place to stay while visiting all the Green Gables attractions and the St. Lawrence Gulf area. Free access in over the international peace bridge, about $15/axel to get back across! PEI is easily driveable with lots to see on the north shore, and south to Charlottetown, along the coast to the lighthouses, with wonderful seafood along the ocean...bring your swimsuit in the summer!

Since we stayed here last year they have updated the washrooms- stainless steel sinks and cedar ceilings and trim- this was our major concern last year that the washrooms were in very poor shape and not well maintained. Our site was narrow but as we have no slideouts it was fine- we had 3-way service. We were near the entrance but just a few minutes to walk to the beach. Great spot. We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

This was at the campsite near Cavindish. There is another one in the same park to the east about 15 miles away. Wide, and very private sites with full hookups. If you boondock you can camp facing the ocean. Others are a short walk to the beach, which was not crowded. No Wi-Fi. I would stay here again. We stayed in one of the 3-way (full hookup) sites (#290). It was huge both length and width, but I had spent time on the Parks Canada website examining the site sizes before I chose one; some sites are narrower. There were trees and other bushes on both sides, but we had no problems putting out our slides. The trees pretty effectively prevent you from getting satellite TV unless you are very lucky. But the sites are just a short walk to the beach which makes up for everything else. We were using a Rogers/Fido internet connection which was fine (~1 Mbps) early in the morning and late at night, but speeds went to a crawl during the day when everyone was awake. Verizon voice service (roaming) was fine. The CG is essentially next to the Green Gables site, if that interests you. It's only a 30-40 minute drive to Summerside where there are lots of things to do and good shopping. We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

The plus to this place is the ocean. If it weren't for that, I'd have gone elsewhere. My space was in such a densely treed area that my space was barely wide enough to not push my side-mirrors inward. No slideouts this night! No Wi-Fi, either. But my goodness, what a delightful walk along the beach, just a few minutes from my campsite. I stayed for a night & enjoyed it all, but was glad I wasn't staying a week! We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

It had been rainy, apparently for days, prior to our arrival. Our site (which I selected on line) was extremely wet/soggy and rather tight. It was long enough, but it was difficult to position motorohome to use awning (needed in rain). We moved to another site (went on line with my blackberry because no WiFi) to find which sites were available. That site was much better. Moral: read the site descriptions on line and if possible get additional information. Our original site had "Soft-bed" in the description. I thought that would be good, but not if it's been raining. Other than that the campground was great. It has nice sites, good beach access, hiking and biking paths, and is close to everything. We spent our arrival evening touring other campgrounds and found Cavendish (despite the mud) to be the best place. The only draw back (serious drawback) is no WiFi. But the visitor center (5-9 min drive) has free wifi and computers until 9 pm. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cavendish Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.
