Rate is in Canadian dollars. This popular, gated, municipally-operated park and campground on a long spit of land in the Baie de Chaleurs is a real gem. It has modern, clean buildings and a good layout with many sites facing the beach and water. The setting is pretty at the foot of the Chic Choc Mountains, which offer hiking opportunities, and a pretty lighthouse is on site at Pointe Tracadigash. English is readily spoken in this area, and campground rule sheet is available in English. We enjoyed camping here even when foggy, rainy, windy weather rolled in and definitely felt it was worth the price. We camped at Camping de Carleton-sur-Mer in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful municipal campground located on the peninsula outside Carleton-sur-Mer. The good size sites are gravel, level, and back-in. Some back up to the water; almost all have a great view. We were there over the Labor Day Weekend, so the park was very full of families. That said, it was quiet and no one was disturbing others. You can take a walk on the beach or trail to the lighthouse, fish off the shore, and there are play areas for the kids. With the park full, there was limited band-width for internet, but the day everyone left, the signal was strong. Firewood available for $7/bundle. Price reflects US$ and full hookups/30amp; $30CAN (includes tax); $3.45CAN for reservation fee. We camped at Camping de Carleton-sur-Mer in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If fresh seafood is on your list, check out Poissonnerie de la Gare, 5 rue de la Gare in Carleton. On a clear day, the view from the town's observation tower is a must.

Very nice park. Water on each side. Big sites, it's to bad there are no trees because its all open and your not private at all, but still it's a lovely place. We camped at Camping de Carleton-sur-Mer in a Travel Trailer.

The campground is beautiful, on the beach and next to a bicycle trail. The park would be a ten if it was not for the patrons. Do not stay here on a summer weekend unless you like the other campers setting off fireworks, drinking and playing music loud all night. Friday night was a little noisy but we could still sleep. Saturday night was a different story. Many young people here from Quebec City for the sole purpose of partying. A shame as this is a great place. We camped at Camping de Carleton-sur-Mer in a Fifth Wheel.
