This is a very large campground (350+ sites) with a lake and beach, its own restaurant and social room (where they do bingo and other games). While it's very convenient to Saint Jerome, it's quite a trip into Montreal (45-50 minutes) with a lot of traffic most times of the day. Where we (and most of the other short-termers) were located was way in the back, and with a 5kph speed limit, it takes quite some time to drive out/in to the site. Most streets are pockmarked with potholes, all are sand/dirt/gravel. If you think you'll be out past 10pm, you have to provide a $10 deposit on a swipe card as they don't occupy the office after that. There are a lot of large families, lots of cars, a lot of people/kids walking on the streets; just a lot of activity. Our site (#246) was very nice, but needed a bit of leveling. There was grass, shade for part of the day and a nice group of trees to look at, as well as a picnic table and fire ring. The hookups were fine with no issues (except I had to use duct tape to keep my surge protector plugged in). Most everyone was quite friendly, and no issues with others' pets. The nearby washroom/laundry was adequate and seemed clean; each washing area was a lockable unisex room. Washers/dryers require a $1 and a 25-cent coin, only! The WiFi was barely passable; good enough signal but throughput was very slow, and you had to pay extra for it. There were a lot of family-oriented amenities and things to do. The security guard at night was very helpful. We might stay here again unless we could find another place closer to Montreal. We camped at Camping Lac-Lafontaine in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of things to do in Montreal -- Old Montreal, Mont Royal, Jean-Talon Market, Biodome, etc.. -- but most are very crowded. We drove up to Mount Tremblant and took a gondola to the top and hiked around... that was worth fighting the crowds.

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a huge campground with mostly permanent sites. It is located right in Saint Jerome and is very close to shops, etc. Although our site was supposed to be a pull-through it was in a cul de sac and we had to make a five point turn around to get out. However, the site was very nice, roomy, and located right on the water with trees for shade. We were going to leave early in the morning, heading east, but neighbours to our camp site advised waiting until after 9 as traffic would be very heavy going into Montreal. As it was there was still a lot of traffic so we were glad we had not left earlier. We would stay in this campground again. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at Camping Lac-Lafontaine in a Travel Trailer.
