Rate was in Canadian dollars. Next to and owned by a lobster restaurant, this place made a great starting point for our circuit of the Gaspe Peninsula, and it is peaceful at night even though on the main highway. We spent two very enjoyable nights in this small campground with wonderful sea breeze and view (we chose to pull in forward as many did, others backed in.) Sites along the waterfront were tight (worked OK for our 25' RV plus living room and rear slide-outs), but larger class rigs parked in the center section. It was fun to walk out on the flat rocks during low tide, and some folks built campfires on the beach at dark. Used the clean, small laundry room. We enjoyed our lobster dinner splurge one night in the restaurant. We camped at Camping Capitaine Homard in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

RV parking is also available if you are just passing by at lunch or dinner time and want to stop into the restaurant. In the area, don't miss the interesting museum about the tragic sinking of the Empress of Ireland ("Canada's Titanic"), located at the Point au Pere lighthouse.

The stated rate is in Canadian dollars. This is a no-frills park, but it's right on the water with full hookups. Since our 40-foot motorhome was too long to fit on the waterfront row, we chose two back-to-back sites in the center island, and we still had great views. All of the staff and the owner were really friendly (and spoke English). The restaurant is great. The laundry worked fine, but took a little cleaning before we used it. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Camping Capitaine Homard in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like seafood, the park's restaurant is great. We had the fisherman's platter which included a full lobster, mussels, shrimp, scallops and (a first for us) pickled periwinkle!

Very nice and interesting CG. It is actually all grass sites on the property of a really good seafood restaurant. Management and staff were wonderful and totally fluent in English. They directed our 40' right into a super site with full windshield views of the St. Lawrence. Good free WiFi. 30 amp only but with the cool temps not a big deal. We ate at the restaurant and it was so fun and good. Tourist note: we went to the nearby Reford Gardens and this was very nice and worth the trip. Totally enjoyed our one night stop. We camped at Camping Capitaine Homard in a Motorhome.

Park was clean but you are very close to others. The hookups were o.k. but if your sewer is in the rear you will need a long hose. The restaurant is the reason to stay here and the food was very good. Most of the staff can speak enough English to accommodate the non Francophones. We camped at Camping Capitaine Homard in a Fifth Wheel.

The previous review is right on, so I'll only give some additional info. RV sites on the river, 28 miles wide in this spot, cost $27, RV sites cost $22 in the center and tent sites without any services are $17. Some tent sites are on the river, and if your RV is small enough to fit in there you can use them, which of course means no W/E/S. I did not see any 50amp hookups, but there may be some. Most people should be able to get by on 30amps, as a/c is normally not needed in this area. Even though the campground is squeezed in between the road and the river, road noise is not an issue as very little traffic goes on during the night. Also, while we were here, the campground itself was quiet with no noisy neighbors. WiFi works well most of the time, although when the bandwidth hogs go online it slows down. The restaurant that is part of the complex specializes in seafood, (What else would you think in the area?) and is not cheap, but quite good. Even locals use it. It is a good place for a fancy dinner, as your bed is only a few steps way if necessary! We camped at Camping Capitaine Homard in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is squeezed in between Route 132 and the St. Lawrence River, and is co-located (as are many others in this region) at a restaurant. The sites are grass, level, and look over the river. Sites on the river cost more than sites one RV removed from the river. Most sites are "3 services," meaning electric, water, and sewer. The sites are very close together and access for big rigs is quite tight; you'll soon be friends with our neighbors. As is true in much of this region, French is universally spoken. The campground is convenient to Rimouski and Mont Joli. There is a fish store adjacent to the campground. We'd stay here again on our way through the area. We camped at Camping Capitaine Homard in a Motorhome.
