Extremely rude staff, accused us over going over 10 kph before we even entered the park! Threatened us with immediate expulsion. Rules, rules, watch out for the rules in this camp! Electrical Service was so low had difficulty pulling in cable! Campsites are on top of each other, side by side. Zero privacy. however lot of "shared" camp fire smoke! Power hookup was 5 inches from ground. Wifi was offered @ $3/hr! Or 5 a day! Poor connection speed. Also poor cell phone reception. Directions on web site are vague and none specific and need to be modernized. Park seems to be more gear to seasonal campers. Theirs are choice lots and somewhat larger and overall better. Would I go back? Not on your life! - Semaj

Large park. Tiny lots that are "pull through"... only if you have a 15 foot trailer. Most rude staff in my camping experience. Too many rules. Not kid friendly. Not English friendly. 2 pools were nice. You will be "expelled" for any violations if you are deemed "undesirable". Poor cell service and wifi is pay and very slow. - NB Family

Based on our hightop van pulling our TT we were assigned a corner site. Took some time to figure out how to park the rig, but it worked. We had view of pond/lake and were right across from the washroom/showers. Site was grass and gravel.
Park is VERY STRICT about 10 kmh speed limit. Drive slow or get tossed out. - DCM/JMB

This small, quiet riverside campground is located 30 miles from Ottawa. The washroom, shower were clean and the owner was friendly. - Walt

The actual washroom building does not have adequate lighting -- we can barely see anything once the stall door was closed. We ended up using the bathrooms in the shower building. While the lighting was better, it was in a state of what we would consider to be disrepair. We ended up mostly did not use the facilities. The site we had was at the edge of the campground right along side a road. The tall tree took care of the privacy issue, but as we have a hybrid travel trailer, and it was really noisy at night. The other major issue is related to the security of the reservation process. While the reservation web form is HTTPS protected, it says right on the form that the "form is not stored on any site, it is emailed direct to the campground." Emailing credit card number is a big NO-NO, as it is not a secure medium. I ended up using my low-limit card that I would not mind as much should it get compromised. - Htt_AB

Enjoyed meeting the manager and his daughter. Very helpful about local attractions and services.
Site 116 required 50 ft of hose for water no big deal.
Level parking area and quiet.
Would recommend to a friend . - Duke55

Recreationland is close enough to Ottawa to make it an easy 30 minute drive into town to see the sites. It's very near the Ottawa River so sometimes it can get humid. It's right next to a road and during the day it can get a bit noisy, but at night it quiets down. While the campground is pretty, most everything is dated. The site (#139) was a pull-through, fairly new gravel, with lots of room between sites. There is a small picnic table and a small firepit. There is WiFi, and it's not too bad, but you have to pay for it ($15/week per device). The laundry has 5 new washer/dryers, about $2 per load. The bathroom is secure and fairly clean, but charges for a shower and is old. The swimming pool is small, but most people still enjoy it. The water pressure fluctuates considerably, from fairly okay to just a trickle, then back again; they are on a well system, apparently. The electrical power is marginal but I didn't have any problems from that. Everyone was friendly, but the owner is very strict about many things, including no carpets on the grass, charges for most amenities, and you can't move the firepits. Overall, a good value and a fairly quiet campground and would probably stay here again. - RobtL

This campground is in an excellent central location in Ottawa easily accessed off Prince of Wales Road just north of the junction with Hunt Club Road. Most of the amenities are satisfactory, including wifi (spotty at times) and laundry ($1.75 wash, 0.25/7min dry). The sites are level and gravelled (except for the tent sites) although perhaps a little short for some big rigs though there are several +40ft here. There is some noise from trains, aircraft and trucks but it all calms down at night. The host, is almost always available and quite polite. He seems to be a little hard of hearing but operates well in English and French. Fees are paid in cash only. The monthly rate, $805, is very reasonable, but needs some planning (for most of us) to pay in cash. We would definitely stay here again. - rvbravo2

Very grumpy manager. Our kids called him grumpy. Everything is old and needs updating. Only advantage is closeness to City. - Vic Larocque

Great park to visit if you are just needing a place to stay for a few nights and are spending time in Ottawa. The laundromat backing the park was a bit loud and ran 24/7. Friendly service and a nice outdoor pool. - DevAshCam

A major heat wave hit Ottawa and the park had a tough time providing enough power for the demands of a full park during the Canada Day weekend. (This problem is in several campgrounds in Ontario I am told.) I got a pull-thru lot like I do everywhere and asked to be moved to a back-in site once I walked around and saw how nice and shady and roomy they are. You can't go wrong with one of their back-in sites. (The pull-thru lots are fine, but not much shade and kind of out in lower 40 on their own.) The office folks were always helpful. I think maybe they should check on the guys who ride around in the carts a bit more to make sure they are dedicated to keeping the park in great shape. It's convenient to the city and about 3 km from a bus stop, if needed. Good playground. The washrooms looked relatively new on the outside. No sewer hook-ups and no 50 amp service. I would recommend this park. - EdinFL

We were looking for a place to camp that would be convenient for visiting Ottawa. We're self-contained and don't use the facilities other than an occasional shower. We stayed on weekdays in late May (after the long weekend) in an 8 metre (25 foot) motor home. This is a very nice, very conveniently located campground. The sites are close together yet most are large and surrounded by trees to provide some privacy. Most site are level or need some minor leveling. Most are back in although there are a few pull throughs. The sites in clusters 1, 3 and 6 are mostly shaded and sites in cluster 9 are full sun. The showers are clean with hot water. There was good wifi coverage near the washrooms and office. We had good phone and data coverage on our ATT and Verizon phones while roaming on Rogers service. - dsvt

This is clean, well maintained park in an excellent location for visiting Ottawa. The entire park is wooded and sites are close but reasonably isolated thanks to the trees. I enjoy bicycling and there are excellent paved trails in the expansive "Greenway" that surrounds the park. It is close to the Trans-Canada highway which makes it convenient but has the drawback that one can hear some of the vehicle noise. - johnp271
