Overall Rating:

We were given site #. Map and signage in park poor. Our site had 18 inch tall weeds, no table, no fire pit. Water hookup and electric hook up are not close together. Office staff not very helpful trying to get our group, 3 sites situated elsewhere. The first site was located near old construction vehicles and piles of construction debris.

Our second night we were frightened by a woman wandering into our site yelling at 12:30 am. We called the office no answer. We had to call 911. Woman was taken away and we and others nearby were questioned.

The next day there was no electricity or running water. Entire facility lost power a short time on Saturday and there was none on Sunday. There was no running water or working toilets or showers on Sunday.

We left early to go home.

I have made numerous attempts to speak with someone in charge. The office will not give me the manager's name. I left my contact information but was told: "Don't expect that anyone will call you back."

Overall camp does not look maintained and facilities are not modern or clean. Customer service was extremely poor. We camped at Bowdish lake Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This camp was probably nice in its day, but it looks run down and not maintained. Person in the office did not have knowledge about site sizes. I found office staff to not be helpful with problem resolution.

Upon checking in I had to wait almost 45 minutes to be sent to a site that was occupied. I was charged extra for my 2 companion/service dogs. There is nothing much for kids to do, they say they have kid activities but nothing fantastic. It would be nice if there was a pool but the lake was okay. Their modern bathrooms might have been modern in 1980 but the machine to regulate the 25 cent showers (yes you must pay 25 cents) was on point (working properly) with warm/cold water. The campground Is full of old junk construction equipment. Find another place, you will be thankful you did. We camped at Bowdish lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We arrived and first had to pay extra for our 2 dogs. A lab, and a 15 lb rescue. We were then told no motorcycles allowed in the park! Its our only transportation! We are quiet grandparents, and had to park the bike near the park office with other bikes. The walk to our bike from our site was 1/2 mile. We were sent to a site, but it was occupied. When I called the office, they sent Us to another, that was occupied! They then proceeded to send us into an area that was too tight for our 37' motorhome. We backed into a rock trying to get out. We finally picked a site that was huge, and private. The lake was beautiful, the campground quiet. The lady that owns the place shouldn't be in the business of working with people. I asked for a golf cart ride to our site, as I have a lung disease. She told me flat out NO! The girls answering the phone at the desk admitted they don't know what size campers fit into the sites. Huge beautiful park. We camped at Bowdish lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed there 1 night in a tent , took my bass boat , boat ramp tight to maneuver for my small boat , it says 9.9 on ramp sign , but there were boat with much bigger engines disrupting the water as we fished , site was not bad , bigger then usual , the price for the site however was insane 50 for site and 10 for boat not worth the money , my daughter wanted to come and visit , they wanted 10 for each person and 10 for there car , would have cost them 30 just to stay for a few hrs , I thought that was ridiculous, they should change that , Just trying to have a fun weekend not break the bank , just a few mins away is George Washington camp grounds on the same lake , actually a little better and 1/2 the price , Oh yeah , and the golf carts they drive around on create a lot of dust , and they constantly drive around the camp grounds , even after 11 , We camped at Bowdish lake Campground in a Tent.

After staying here previous years my family and I always come back. This year it seems the Bowdish Lake Campgrounds has let its self go. Bathrooms are dirty, showers non functional, the so called riffraff that they didn't allow other years has an exception this year. It's just horrible. My 3 year old needs to use the bathroom and it's non functional. My phone call on Monday or Tuesday will be to the board of health. We camped at Bowdish lake Campground in a Tent.

There is nothing for kids to do. There is broken down heavy equipment throughout the site. Very difficult to maneuver our camper to our site. Very, very rustic. Not for us. We camped at Bowdish lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We chose to park in a grass field with W/E hookups for a better price. Lot of seasonal campers. Coin operated showers. It worked for an overnight stop. Would stay here again. We camped at Bowdish lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is a dream come true for adult campers. This is like a state park, where the sites are plentiful, quiet, private and clean. There is not too much to do for kids, there is a lake, bingo occasionally, and sports games. During Halloween season there is a great haunted house. Park is run by a seasoned older woman who does not allow riff raff or young teens to camp alone. Safe, quiet, wooded and scenic. Highly recommended to adult campers. We camped at Bowdish lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.
