We chose this campground because of the proximity to Mystic and Newport. The sites were spacious and level. We had a bad experience because we were next to a pavilion and one night there was extremely loud music until 9:00 P.M. We would stay there again but would ask if there were dances with loud music that night. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed off-season, just after Labor Day. This campground has LOTS of amenities and many seasonal campers. We like the added touch of having an escort show us to the site (large park and it's nice to go to the correct site on the first try when you have a camper, trailer or RV). For a family, this park is awesome. So much to do for little ones, tweens and teens alike. Train rides (under 10), mini golf, pool, bball, bocci, shuffleboard...so much! Full service rec center with ice cream socials and pancake breakfasts as well as pool tables and games. Restrooms were clean, in fact we saw them being serviced 4 times in our barely 2 night stay. Showers need some updating, for sure. Tight and dingy. The park has a heavy seasonal base but, unlike some parks we've been to, these folks were very friendly and went out of their way to say hello. One fellow camper even gave us a ride in his golf cart so we wouldn't have to carry two loads of wood to our site (quite a walk from the office). Staff was friendly and accommodating. Great campground for those who like lots of activity. A little big and busy for us - but that's just our preference and no slight on this campground. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

About 30 minutes to Misquamicut State Beach. 10 minutes to local stores, grocery, Big Lots, etc...The camp store is well stocked for basic needs (& beyond!). Might want to stop and purchase wood from a road side stand. Camp wood was expensive for a small quantity. Just be sure you are buying wood from Rhode Island and not from bordering Connecticut as you cannot bring out of state firewood to the campground.

Bathrooms on weekend were bad but got better during the week. Rec hall closed during the week so access to sport equpment limited but managed to find someone to get it for us. Mini golf needs cleaning, moss growing on holes. Pool great and clean. Store not open posted hours. Site was better than we had anticipated based on reviews but some are small. Needs some activities during the week for the rate. Also even though my "kid" is over 18 still a kid in our family bit had to pay $7 / night extra even though 3 kids are allowed in the site price. There is nothing in the campground to justify the additional fee for a child over 18 being additional fee. We enjoyed our stay because we did a lot of sight seeing. Spent evenings and one afternoon at campground. Only first night (Sat) had activities. Pleasant people. Nice landscaping in most sites. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Used to camp here in the 90's with kids. Not much has changed since then. The pool was redone this winter, which was nice. The bathrooms are very old and tired, in need of tile and a good cleaning. The roads are very small for a motorhome. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

This place was very busy. We asked for a site with full hook-ups and they put us in a pull-thru site (yay!) but it didn't have sewer (boo!). We asked if they had a site with full hook-ups and they said they did but it was a short and narrow site. We would just barely fit but we were welcome to check it out and if we wanted to take it to let them know. They weren't kidding, the site was very short and narrow so we stayed in the pull-thru site. They only had the honey wagon on Monday and Tuesdays so we were not able to utilize that service either. We ended up cutting our visit a day short. We checked out the showers and while they appeared to be clean, they were old and the floors were always wet so we didn't want to use them. Our site was long but narrow and our neighbor, who was a seasonal patron, had some of his items (dog pen, 2 screen houses), extending into our site some, which made heading over to take care of our hookups awkward. There were mostly seasonal patrons who were all very friendly as were the staff. Like I mentioned earlier, it was a busy place with dogs barking at 6 am and kids riding bikes shortly after. If you are looking for a place with lots of friendly people and activities, this would be a great place to visit but with a smaller camper. If you are looking for a more quiet experience, you may not enjoy your stay. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Visit Block Island. The ferry is about a 45 minute drive to Point Judith but the visit to the island was the highlight of our trip. Dogs are welcome on the ferry.

Nice large, wooded campground. Lots of seasonals but they are kept up. Pool looked good but we did not use. Lots for kids to do and campground gets busy on weekends. Minor computer problem on check in but they assigned us a site and we went back later to pay. We had a gravel pull-through site with room for slideout and only needed a little leveling. No problems with utilities. Restrooms are older but kept clean. We would camp here again. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Family CG with lots for the kids to do. I like the private fishing pond and the pool. Ocean is nearby and an easy ride to get to. Gravel roads are narrow and might be difficult for a big rig.

I camped here in my VW Westfalia. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed memorial weekend, first visit. We had some trouble initially getting to our site do to trees and width of roads but with the help of an employee we made it. Everyone at this campground is very friendly and nice, owners checked in on us several times during the weekend. We had a large site but some appeared small. Hilly. It was nice to see so many campers partaking in the activities, each event was full up and enjoyed by a large group. It was also nice that the events were fundraiser for areas organizations, like the duck races in the stream. Our kids loved boating on the small pond and exploring in this wooden area. The roads are tough to navigate, we understand they want the trees but this made for a scary ride in and out. Camp store is small but there are stores a couple of blocks down for shopping. Just really nice people. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground . New owners making many improvements. Site was large and nicely treed. Owner assisted us in parking our 5th wheel and was very friendly and helpful. Had planned on one night but stayed three. Would stay here again. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

I would stay here again even though it's very geared toward seasonals. The access road while narrow was well maintained. The staff was very helpful. While it isn't the best access from the Interstate it was a very nice, quite campground. If in the neighborhood, I would stay here again. Given the fact it is rather remote, cable would have been nice. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park .... Saw Mill road was a little scary, it is definetly a one vehicle road, but if you know what you are doing, you will be fine. Our motorhome with tow is 62 ft long and we were just fine. The pull thrus they have are 40ft long, so we unhooked out truck. People there are all very friendly... most are permanent, but very nice. There is a little snack bar there and we enjoyed that. This would probably a very busy place during the summer, but it was fairly quiet when we were there after Labor Day on a Saturday. Would visit this spot again. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Would never attempt to take any motorhome or travel trailer bigger than a pop-up. Roads are horrible, insanely narrow due to large pines that should be removed. Roads are very rough due to large tree roots, buried rock, and loose gravel. Terrain is extremely hilly. Management and staff were very courteous. WiFi was very weak and unprotected. No cable. Satellite impossible due to trees. Only 50 minutes from Newport, RI. Easy access to I-95. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

OK campground. The interior roads were narrow and very poor and bumpy. Two rigs could not pass each other in many locations. We were in the J pull through section & it was long & wide enough for 4 slide units. Lots of trees but our rooftop dish worked OK. Sprint cell phone intermittent, and its Internet didn't work. Park's Wi-Fi worked well for us. Laundry was outside in a lean-to with new clean machines but being outside it was dirty. $1.50 to wash or dry. Staff was friendly but office open only from 1 to 5 PM; they did cruise the park in a golf cart. Pool was busy with kids. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very disappointed, kids all over the place not being supervised by anyone. Bikes, dogs, all over. Again no one supervising and inappropriate language. Try to find a staff member to help you. Signs marking the campground are non existing, make sure you bring a map. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Staff non existent. Seemed like they mostly cater to seasonals. Barking dogs and children wandering through sites. Plumbing needs some updating. Heavy equipment through campground at 7 am on Saturday morning along with the chainsaws cutting the campfire wood. (staff) Our site had the septic tank in the middle of it, kind of smelly. Sites narrow. Overall visit was OK. Probably won't go back. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.
