What can I say, as it was my choice to stay at this Park, but then there aren't many Parks in the area to choose from. The Desk person was very courteous and the grounds are nice, but... at $58.50 a night with the GS Discount, it's rather outrageous that there are no restrooms and no showers available for use. Our site #5, wasn't very level and pretty tight. The full hookup connections were all at the very back of the site and not convenient and the wifi was nonexistent. Location of sewer connection was inconvenient. The location to the local sites was good, but this RV Park was no value. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Motorhome.

Great location. satisfactory park. We had asked for a FHU and mailed in a deposit, and when we arrived they only had an electric only site. Apparently this is standard operating procedure, so be sure you are OK with electric-only before considering this park. There is a dump station near the front where you can also take on water. There are also a couple of water stations scattered around the park. The water pressure is pretty low, so it takes a while to fill your tank. We think there are a few FHU sites up front, but almost all of those sites are taken by seasonal trailers. Also, those sites seem to be much closer together than the ones in the back or "the field" as they call it. The sites in the field are all grass, back-in sites with 30 amp only. The sites are fairly spacious with old picnic tables and very few trees. There is a bit of a slope to all sites in the field, but nothing unmanageable. There is no Wi-Fi in the field, they lost their provider. They take cash or checks, they took our personal check from Texas. So why stay here? You are less than a mile from Easton Beach, not much further to second beach and very close to all of the mansions and the center of Newport. You are literally minutes from anywhere in town. They do keep the park mowed and clean, and they give you a big packet of information upon arrival. We were comfortable during our stay notwithstanding the limited amenities. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Meadowlark is a no-frills, well-maintained RV park run by very friendly and helpful people. It is located in a nice neighborhood. Our site #2 was fairly level and had a fair amount of space. Wifi was very strong. Cash or checks only and no bathrooms or showers. $60 is a hefty price for a site and wifi BUT you are only 2.5 miles from Newport! It was really nice to jump in the truck and be in the middle of town. We stayed 2 nites and would have stayed longer if we had the time. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Start your visit at the visitor's center (public parking lot next door) and get your trolley tour tickets for a 1.5 hr orientation to Newport. It goes by all the mansions, the wharf and shopping areas, and Ft Adams. Very interesting and never dull. Once you are oriented, you can decide what mansions or areas you want to see and go on your own (city bus 67, a tour, or your own car). Lots of fun shopping down on the wharf areas. Have fun!

We had never visited the area before and wanted a place close to Newport. This is the place...

We had reserved a full hook up site. As others have posted, it is either cash or traveler check for payment. We arrived, paid and were given some local info and directions to our site. All the sites are grass. We were unable to get our 40' coach level and the rear wheels would need to be off the ground to make this happen which is not safe. Back to the office and was given an an electric only site on another part of the park. It was also back in and had much less slope. The coach still would not level, but we made due. The sites are all 30 amp. It is a no frills park and we knew that going into it. We were there to see the area and the park served us well.

If coming in via a motorhome, I would encourage the electric only sites as they are your best bet in getting as close to level as you can. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Motorhome.

This is a bad place in so many ways. The sites are used mostly by old run down seasonal trailers. No sites are level. The rear of my trailer was 3 feet higher than the front in order to be level. All picnic tables are covered in black mold and the grass was high and patchy. No showers or bathrooms, or dog walk. There is a big open field but dogs are not allowed, no reason, just not allowed. They ONLY except cash! The only reason to be here is the location to Newport. Management's knowledge of this can only be their excuse for being so aloof and rude. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Travel Trailer.

I have been staying at Meadowlark for forty years and wish to say the park is not for sale. The double wide mobile home on site is for sale and is in very good shape. The park also is a great place to stay Historic Newport is three miles from the park and second beach is one mile away with ample parking and a great place for children. The park is clean and well maintained. The park has new paved roads . The staff is friendly and on hand to help with parking if required. There is a large mowed field for children ( of all ages) for playing ball or what ever and they also have fire rings and tables for evening camp fires . We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Motorhome.

The reviews on this web site are starting to bother me. We have never ran into a severe problem where I'd give a bad review yet. I almost blew this place off because of the reviews. I called the lady on the phone to explain my fears and she made me feel comfortable to drive from Fisherman's Campground, 24 miles, to here. We got here and everything is "fine". She was very nice. She had a packet of info all ready to go for me. We have hydraulic jacks, so we had no problem leveling. They will even help you back in, if needed. You are close to 2nd and 3rd beach. It was "OK". We had no problem leveling. It's not a "beautiful" site. There are a lot of trailer homes, but nobody bothered us. We left our RV alone for hours and we had no issues. I never heard a peep out of anyone. The sites can be rather close together but you are here to explore not to "relax and enjoy" at your RV. We have a 31 foot RV with two slideouts and an awning. If you park just right, then we can easily let our slideouts out and put the awning out. There is no play ground, but there is a cute trail with a windmill right next door. The owner said they had a goal to put in a playground this past year, but had plumbing issues that ate up the budget. They really need a little playground. Our 1.5 year old loved running the beaches. Get the Good Sam discount and rent a car! You'll be fine. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You are very close to Enterprise rent a car where they "pick you up". We rented a car to go to Newport, which wasn't that far, but we wanted to do the 10 mile drive so we needed the car. We went to Anthony's seafood, which is practically "down the road" from the campground. This was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

BTW: The Enterprise rent a car is open later on Saturday and OPEN on Sunday which is very rare for Enterprise! If you don't want to rent a car, then do a tour. Stay here to explore, then stay at Fisherman's in Narragansett to enjoy, save money and fish.

Rate reflects monthly rate for full hookup at front part of park, then add electricity. It is very tight, a bit hard to get into, and very unlevel. The utilities are at the back of the site, bring plenty of length. Very expensive, you are paying for the location. Laundry is the cheapest I've seen at $1 wash and $.25 for 10 minutes in an antique dryer that has to be the hottest on the planet, 2 quarters will cook your 2 washes in 20 minutes. Staff is friendly and are always working to keep the place neat. They had a warm welcome for our dogs, too. They added fire pits while we were there; they are in the communal yard. There is no way I'd want fires at the sites; the RVs are way too close. Each site has a picnic bench. Regarding the neighborhood... Beautiful but dangerous walk (no sidewalks) to Second Beach. Safer walk through the neighborhood to First Beach, still no sidewalks, but less traffic. Peaceful park practically next door with a 1/2 mile loop and a windmill that is great for walking dogs. P.S. The For Sale sign out front is for a mobile home on the property per the real estate agent who I happen to know. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Having read all the reviews, we booked at Meadowlark with trepidation. Yes, you are packed cheek to jowl, but there is enough private space to use. Backing in is tight, but not that difficult. The owners are helpful and give you all sorts of printed info about Newport. All in all, it is a decent place to stay and the proximity to Newport is priceless. It is up for sale, so this may not be valid next year. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rate is for the back area, 30 amp electric only. Location and people running the park are very nice. TV via batwing, and Verizon broadband. The water fill was across from dump station and not at it. Sites are all grass back-ins on a grade and fairly small but acceptable given the location. We could not get level, best bet is to park so the front tires can come off the ground. The road into the back is very narrow, one vehicle at a time. Cars can get out of the way, but we got stuck trying to leave as a 5th wheel was coming in early. He had to back up so we could get out. Not a place we are likely to come back to, but would under the right conditions. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Motorhome.

Closest to Newport, but site for 5th wheel back in up hill and hard to level; water and electric sites bring lots of hose and cord (75' from hookup). TV poor reception with antenna. WI-FI used own and was good. Sites are small and tight. Water pressure very low. No camp store, no fires or low bar-b-que grills to burn grass. Bad location for dump station. Mobile dump service expensive ($40.00). No shade. Don't be fooled by good sam listing in book as it is not rated. Very expensive for what you get. Allows pet, but not overly pet friendly or owners not overly friendly. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We chose Meadowlark Park for its proximity to Newport Center. From previous reviews, it was hard to tell quite what to expect - but we decided to take a chance. What we found was an immaculately kept combo RV Parking area/mobile home park. When we first entered the grounds, I saw a row of closely parked RVs and thought to myself "oh - this is where they must have the storage parking" - but to my surprise, these were the "camp"sites. All the sites are back in - and we had one of the more difficult ones (#19), having to clear a telephone pole - but once we were settled - we felt comfortable and cozy on our well manicured site. The owners were helpful and friendly; our camping neighbors were friendly and considerate and it was a quiet place. We had water, sewer, electric and pretty decent Wi-Fi. Newport is a fantastic destination; it is gorgeous and there is just so much to do and see. Just down the street, I discovered a beautiful little park with gardens and windmill. If you are looking for a comfortable and clean place to park, spending your days enjoying the sites and beaches of Newport - Meadowlark Park is great; if you are looking for a campground with lots of amenities where you plan to spend your days- this may not be the place you want. They also do not have a website and only accept cash or travelers checks. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is an update from my review of one year ago. The electrical service has degraded to the point where many times the voltage is barely over 100V, as measured on my Progressive Industries meter, and the water pressure drops much more frequently than last year. Although there are a few sites with shade, they are in the area where there is no water or sewer hookups, only 30 amp electric. The WiFi which was adequate last year, was replaced with a system that hasn't worked all of June. The site fee has been raised from $650/month to $700/month. My fee is based on the monthly rate. The daily rate has also increased. For everything else, my previous review from June 2011 stands. The price has increased. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is an older one but allows pets. It has full hook-ups on grassy sites. It is so close to the Newport Mansions, that we were able to return to the RV for lunch and pet walks. The ladies at the office were wonderful in their information and directions. There is a Windmill Park about a block down that has walking paths. We would stay here again if we are ever back in this area. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park has approximately 80 sites. About 40 have full hook ups but many of them have travel trailers that are permanent so there are about 15 sites available for rent. The FHU sites are small and the sites slope. My 42' fifth wheel fit OK but with the slides out on each side it only gives about 8' on the patio side. Water and electric drop pressure during the day but is adequate overall. All sites are grass. The "playground" consists of a swing set and a basketball hoop so there isn't much for children to do. There are approximately 40 electric only sites and these are in the back area of the park. All grass and a bit of a slope but nice enough. No campfires allowed. A mobile home area is at the rear of the FHU sites but they are well kept and the people are nice. The proximity to the Newport area makes this park a good deal. We are staying here for the months of June, July and August. The monthly rate is $650. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Fifth Wheel.
