27 Parks near Wakefield, Rhode Island
Jul 2016 - $51.00
This is a very big and busy RV park. Right off 95, but noise wasn't an issue. Given its location, I would say $51/night was a good price, but this was for water and 30 amp only. Full service sites are limited. Also, using your own washer is prohibited due to well/septic. Our site was level with grass/dirt; some trees in our section, many in other sections. Our particular site was roomy, but the driving lanes are a little on the narrow side.
Very well-run park with an abundance of family-oriented activities. (Pools, basketball, volleyball, shuffleboard, outdoor movie night - could go on and on.) Ver friendly staff. There were children everywhere, all well-behaved. Lots of seasonal trailers, some older. I would venture that this is a popular weekend destination for locals.
Would definitely stay here again, but with better planning so as to book a full-service, 50 amp site. - Milo&Millie
Jun 2016 - $67.00
This Campground was an old apple orchard. The sites are very close together in the open sun and next to the highway. The pool was nice and the campground was very clean. - emily0707
May 2016 - $80.00
Stayed the night there on our way north. Very clean and organized campground. It had 2 nice pools a fully stocked store, cable and WiFi. There seemed to be a lot of seasonal campers there, although there wasn't the usual seasonal clutter. All in all it was a nice place. There are no road signs saying KOA this way. Had to follow GPS once off the freeway and entrance is a little confusing, as I thought I was entering someone's driveway. It would help to have small KOA signs with arrows to show the way. Our RV is 38' long. - Powerstroke
Jul 2016 - $75.00
We liked this camp very much for the easy acess and the close location to Mystic, what a great little town. Wish we could have stayed longer but did not have a reservation, they were full and we only got 2 nights, and had to move to a different site each of those nights. Anyway the pool was nice and clean, as was the entire place. Always a representative cruising around to help, and the front desk did help us as much as they could to get us in. Sites were gravel with very little shade but were mostly level. We would stay here again. Maybe on our way back to Florida later in the summer. - Gerry9
Jul 2016 - $44.00
The only reason I rate it a 3 star in cleanliness is that the trash was NEVER emptied from the Pavillion we used, and the public dumpsters were so full one could not throw your bags of trash away without them falling on the ground. They were overflowing. I mentioned to the behind the desk staff who said she made a call to get it collected. It is a very pleasant stay other than that!!! - rversandie
Jul 2016 - $40.00
Many updates recently done. Large sites. Very nice, quiet and maintained park. Quiet setting that was close to all we wanted to do. Great personnel. - Paul2015
Jul 2015 - $48.00
I booked one night. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised how well stocked the office was with everything needed to camp including toys for the kids. I was undecided on the site I wanted to stay. I was escorted on a golf cart to sites along the water. The staff member suggested I use sites 61 or 62. Most sites on the river were taken by seasonals. The site was easy to get in and out. There were lots of trees and was very relaxing. The bathrooms and showers were the cleanest I ever camped at. It was so relaxing I stayed a second day and used the pool. It too was the cleanest I every used. The roads were kind of ruff and there is no need for a 5 mile speed limit sign as it would be the fastest you could drive without experience discomfort. This place has it all. Wide open to treed sites. A big pavilion and canoes to rent, fishing, horseshoes. basketball court. The only thing in poor shape was the miniature golf. I can't wait to go again. - niftysixty
Jun 2012 - $42.00
We camped here with 2 other families. There were 9 kids from ages 5-10. The good: Sites were big under tall pines in the area that we camped. This gave us great shade. We had W/E/S, and our site was relatively level with only a few roots around the big pine trees. Owners are very nice. Craft time was fun for the kids (free for 1st craft, $1 for the second) and the lady running it was very patient with my detail oriented son who took a long time to finish. Pool was clean, but got crowded. There is mining and panning available for a fee (I thought was reasonable), our kids loved this. Camp store was reasonably priced too. We camped within sight of the pavilion and the older playground. A second playground that the kids loved is closer to the office. This was in good shape. There was a nice level loop that the kids could ride their bikes around that was in sight of our site. There is also canoeing and boat rentals, as well as mini golf and a museum all for a fee, but we didn't do any of those things. The area that we were in had us in contact with only one seasonal trailer, and they were super nice to all of us. The bad: There was a group of tenters right next to the pavilion that had a pitbull. There is no policy on aggressive dogs. Front desk told me that they would keep an eye on it. I just kept a close eye on my kids! I have a dog of my own but would never bring her here because there were dogs everywhere with no restrictions on where they could go as long as they were on leashes. This may be good for some, but not all dogs can handle lots of kids running around nearby: like pit bulls. At the dance pavilion, there is a concession stand. After waiting in line, with no one behind us, we were told by a rude girl, that they were now closed. Bathroom toilets looked clean but had lots of cobwebs and spiders hanging around. (I know, this is camping in the woods, but this freaked my daughter out.) Overall, I liked the campground, but was really concerned about the big dogs around. I would definitely camp here again, but I will wait until after the season is over, and ask about the dogs. - Itsatrip
Oct 2011 - $43.00
We stayed here Columbus Day weekend which coincided with their Halloween celebration. This was a blast and virtually each and every site participated. Not much else to do here as far as amenities go, but they do have a nice fishing lake. - McNamara's Band
May 2016 - $45.00
Great location! Kids loved the area and were able to linkup with other children their age around the camp. Bathrooms were very clean as well as the property itself. Really enjoyed swimming and being able to have a quiet relaxing time with family and friends! Staff was extremely helpful and on demand to help as needed! Love it here. - Ronnied55
Dec 2014 - $100.00
First Book Early as you don't want your family to miss out on this great adventure. Strawberry Park Resort is perfect for what I was looking for. I have a 16 year old and five year old grandson. So I needed a mix of activities for each of them. Clean restrooms and showers but could use more of them during the busy times. They have three pools and two hot tubs. Adult only pool and hot tubs. Wading pool for the youngest ones to a huge pool with diving board for the bigger kids. Also which I found invaluable as my eyesight is not as good as it used to be, is that they have plenty of extra eyes to keep a watch on kids... Plus most are young enough the kids love them. They just had a splash pad open up that is great fun. They have so many activities! From live bands, Bingo with approx 300-400 people a night to a hypnotist that is REAL!! Arts and Crafts with many open fields, Baseball, Soccer, Boccie to many to list.
They have golf carts if you're early enough to rent as well. They changed their pet policy so now you can walk your dogs to the safe pet areas for exercise. Just please pick up after them. - Gina Falt
Oct 2014 - $75.00
Nice park. Plenty of stuff for the the kids. They do a good job organizing activities. We stayed here over one of the 'Halloween' weekends in October. The sites are tightly packed but nice. Wifi is free for one hour a day. It's fee based after that. There is a huge number of mobile home sites here. I would think of this place more of a mobile home park with some RV and camping spots. With that said, everything is very well kept. We will likely stay here again. - FamilyJ
Aug 2015 - $55.00
We used the park as our home base for our family activities off -site so we did not utilize the most of the parks amenities. Site was large and nice. Staff was very friendly. On site "restaurant" was good but not open every day. We plan on going back when we can spend sometime relaxing at the park. Pool slide looked great but we did not have time to use it and as others have said it is ala cart.
The knocks: my site was very difficult to get into due to trees at entrance to site and a huge rock where my truck needed to swing. With the help of a seasonal RVer and wife I used a semi-perpendicular road for my approach. I was backing blind so their help was greatly appreciated.
This one is stupid but the speed bumps are crazy large! Don't bring your Ferrari or even your Vette...you will hit bottom. :-)
Overall 8.5 rating. - Bandguy
Jul 2015 - $46.00
My wife and I use a campground as a base from which to do other things in the area so I can't really address activities those with kids might want to know about. It did appear they had several things going on while we were there. Nice camp store.
The thing we noticed most was the lots are HUGE compared to most other campgrounds. We were there on July 4th weekend and the campground was full. The power was a little wimpy on a hot day. We got down to 107v with the AC on. I switched to gas for the water heater then.
Good cell signal so the cell router worked well. Water pressure was good. We were very late in looking for a site and ended up with a water/electric site, but a honey wagon comes by twice a week for $15 a time. They missed us the first time, but showed up within minutes after I let the office know no one had been there.
All in all, we'd definitely go again. - pitman44
Jul 2015 - $45.00
Interesting campground and I find it hard to rate. The previous reviewer covered all of the varying site differences and road conditions so I won't cover them. There are charges for everything: pets cost $3.00 per night, showers cost money, the water slide costs money, they have 2 large clubhouses which are always locked unless you have paid for an activity in them. To use the free wi-fi, you must sit outside the store on picnic tables, at least it is under a roof but can get cold and windy when it rains. For $45 a night, I would think that one could use the clubhouse for wi-fi.
Their website directions send you to Google which gives the wrong directions through a RI park and into the campground the back way. You cannot get to the park using these directions. I mentioned this to the office and the woman didn't seem concerned. Luckily I had called the office in advance and came in the right way.
Our hook-ups were straightforward but leveling was a challenge. There is a well-used picnic table and a fire pit at each campsite. The sites were spacious and grassy. - swike
Jun 2016 - $35.00
Do not even think of trying to enter or check in before exactly at 1:00pm. Staff was very rude and unpleasant. After check in was accomplished stay was pleasant.
Access from major highway is easy. Interior roads are paved with all campsite pads paved. Easy to navigate in the campground and very big rig friendly. Area 1 is the most big rig friendly with all sites being pull through with some being more level than others. Utilities placed in easily accessible position. Many of sites are waterfront or waterview. Some sites could be difficult to get level on if in Big Rig.
Many restaurants in the area. No Wifi but Verizon signal is decent. Satellite access was ok with some trees maybe posing an issue in some sites. All campsites have fire rings strategically placed. Biggest issue is that even though pads are straight, the grassy area beside of pad is severely sloped making it almost impossible to level a picnic table on many of the sites.
Did not use restrooms. Park has some historical value. Access from major highway easy with all interior roads being paved. - eaglesfan
May 2016 - $40.00
Very strict on check in time, even though my site was empty and it was an off season Monday, made me wait until 1 pm. A little too strict for my liking. Welcome to Rhode Island. - eventanman
Oct 2015 - $35.00
The campground is near Point Judith Rhode Island. It consists of three areas (1,2,&3). Area 1 is nearest the water, area 2 & 3 further inland. The campground is very well maintained. The best sites, parking wise are in area 1. The sites in area 2 tend to be slanted. Area 3 is tent only. It appears that all sites now have water, electric and sewer. We were in area 2, spot 20. Site not recommended since the waste stack is uphill from the site and stuff has a hard time flowing uphill even in RI.
Sites in this CG are hard to come by, some requiring a reservation a year in advance. The best sites (area 1 along the water) never seem to be available no matter when you try to book. Nonetheless a highly recommended CG. - DXRFLYER
Sep 2015 - $41.00
This is definitely one of the better maintained campgrounds we have stayed at. Jim and Lin really care about the grounds as owners and it shows. The site itself was more than large enough for our 35' fifth wheel and truck. There was no grass at the site, but plenty just down the road for walking the dogs. Even though we stayed over Labor Day weekend, we had very few campers around us, making for a very quiet stay. The utilities were great and wifi was solid, no cable but we picked up the local channels over our antenna. Verizon cell coverage was fine. The laundry had two washers and two dryers, at $1.75 each. It is about a 20 minute drive to Mystic, but aside from that, there is nothing immediately around the campground. If you're looking for a nice quiet campground to spend some time, this is for you. - pfogleboch
May 2015 - $48.00
Road to park has overhanging trees, but they've been "trimmed" by previous RV's. Dirt sites and roads make for dirty rigs, and the trees over the sites drop tons of stuff onto roof and awnings. Quite a few creepy-crawlies too, but all that's to be expected in the woods. However, the sites are very large, and the pond and grass areas are very nice. Very quiet area. Owners are extremely nice and helpful. Wifi excellent. Only a handful of sites can put up a dish (due to the trees). No cable, but could get a few channels with antenna. Phone service (Verizon) good. - OTR again
Apr 2015 - $45.00
I can't say enough about this campground, the place is absolutely beautiful!
Campsites are big and private, and the owners are the best! Come here once and like us, you will hooked! - Virginia c
Apr 2015 - $20.00
We arrived early April and found only two other RV's in the park. Absolutely secluded and beautiful beach location. We own a 20' RV and since there's no dump station nor water AND you have limited grey/black tank storage you must conserve and be smart about use or you'll have to drive to the nearest dump site 15 min. You can use a generator but it's only allowed until 8 pm.
I've had family and friends stay here over the summer and its wall to wall campers with loud generators and cramped for space, the bathrooms in April were closed to us. If you're looking for serene and quiet I'd go off season as we will do so in the Fall. If they'd allow generators to go to 10 pm I'd give it a better rating. Not an issue if you have the larger RV's, a challenge if you have ones with limited power and water capacities. - koeka
Aug 2014 - $20.00
Park still gets a 10 for location. But during July and August there simply are too many vehicles in it. Getting set up can be a real challenge. One big problem is that the Department of Environmental Management is now in an office, so after the parking vendor leaves at 5:00 pm the gate booth is unmanned. So some folks with sites have all kinds of family and friends coming in to visit. This park is much better just before and after the peak summer season. - Bob and Inga
Apr 2014 - $20.00
This is an open area parking. Since it was off season only a few campers were here so it was pretty quiet. Extensive beach for walking, fishing, and small boating could be seen. We had cold evenings, nice sunsets and sunrises. There are no amenities so it's dry camping. Good restaurants nearby. We stayed 3 days. - RonMill
Jul 2015 - $48.00
This place was very busy. We asked for a site with full hook-ups and they put us in a pull-thru site (yay!) but it didn't have sewer (boo!). We asked if they had a site with full hook-ups and they said they did but it was a short and narrow site. We would just barely fit but we were welcome to check it out and if we wanted to take it to let them know. They weren't kidding, the site was very short and narrow so we stayed in the pull-thru site. They only had the honey wagon on Monday and Tuesdays so we were not able to utilize that service either. We ended up cutting our visit a day short. We checked out the showers and while they appeared to be clean, they were old and the floors were always wet so we didn't want to use them. Our site was long but narrow and our neighbor, who was a seasonal patron, had some of his items (dog pen, 2 screen houses), extending into our site some, which made heading over to take care of our hookups awkward. There were mostly seasonal patrons who were all very friendly as were the staff. Like I mentioned earlier, it was a busy place with dogs barking at 6 am and kids riding bikes shortly after. If you are looking for a place with lots of friendly people and activities, this would be a great place to visit but with a smaller camper. If you are looking for a more quiet experience, you may not enjoy your stay. - DeannaS
Jun 2015 - $38.00
Family CG with lots for the kids to do. I like the private fishing pond and the pool. Ocean is nearby and an easy ride to get to. Gravel roads are narrow and might be difficult for a big rig.
I camped here in my VW Westfalia. - JudoJeff
Jun 2015 - $44.00
Nice large, wooded campground. Lots of seasonals but they are kept up. Pool looked good but we did not use. Lots for kids to do and campground gets busy on weekends. Minor computer problem on check in but they assigned us a site and we went back later to pay. We had a gravel pull-through site with room for slideout and only needed a little leveling. No problems with utilities. Restrooms are older but kept clean. We would camp here again. - 21fbrs
