This is one of our favourite places to camp. Don't be fooled by its southern Saskatchewan location, it is still within the Boreal Forest and offers everything the Northern Saskatchewan forest has. We have (to date) camped in 215 different campgrounds throughout Canada and the U.S. and have never seen so many spacious and private campsites in one campground, and many are pull-throughs. In 2014 there were many noticeable improvements with a lot more electrical sites and a new shower house. A new sewer dump and parking area is also in progress. There are only about 15 or so full hookup sites and the rest are 15/30 amp power with water available throughout the park. Wonderful hiking/biking trails. High waters has overcome the beach area at the campground but the main beach a short drive away is very spacious and beautiful with lots of sand, grass, and trees. Throughout July and August the park offers many different ways to participate and enjoy the park. We enjoyed "Saskatchewan Express" performance on stage at the main beach, showcasing excellent local talent. Keep in mind this is a Saskatchewan Provincial Park with an online reservation system so it could be difficult getting a site on short notice (during high season) for more than a day or so. Best to plan ahead and reserve early. We camped at Duck Mountain Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Duck Mountain Provincial Park is located on the Sask/Man border, and a short drive from the town of Kamsack. If you want to camp in the forest, but still like a hot shower now and again, Duck Mountain is a great choice. We stayed in the tenting area as the RV sites were fully booked. The sites were large, surrounded by 30' birch and pine trees, and you felt like you were nestled into nature. We found a resting site for a pair of deer only 30' from our campsite (complete with deer). The lake was beautiful, clean clear water, great for swimming. The park has extensive paths for hiking, walking and cycling. Really a fantastic place if you enjoy the outdoors! Unfortunately for a park this size, which includes several church camps, many campgrounds, and cottage subdivisions, the store only carried junk food, bread and milk, and an assortment of things like matches and bug spray. And the food prices were outrageous. So buy your groceries in Yorkton or Kamsack on the way to the park. We camped at Duck Mountain Provincial Park in a Motorhome.
