A 30 second walk to the ocean pretty much sums it up. Watching the sunset last night there were maybe 10 people on the beach for as far as I could see. The park is a level gravel parking lot with utilities. Spaces are very close and getting into the site is a little challenging with peoples' vehicles parked in front of their rigs. However, they will move your rig in and out of the site for you if requested (so I am told). I was able to park my truck next to my rig although it was pretty tight. We paid extra for the 50amp and it is working well. Water pressure is low so don't expect a vigorous shower. Even their showers (which cost 25 cents) are not much better. We have been drinking the water and there is no problem. This park is a mix of permanent residents, seasonal people and some weeklys -- not many weekenders. Along the perimeter are permanent residents with structures built around the units. There is a bar on-site which is a nice place to hang out and watch the sunset. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance, but for the most part it appears that many businesses have left this area. The Malecon is a 5 minute drive with plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants. A couple of vendors are on the beach and most of the time a simple "No, Gracias" and they walk away. Dogs are allowed on the beach with a leash, but it was about a 50/50 split of dogs off-leash as on leash. No one seems to care one way of the other. The park offers a wash n' wax service which is a very inexpensive compared to the states and they do a very good job. Not a day went by that I did not see them working on a rig. We do plan to return here again next winter for a longer stay (we stayed 10 days this time). We camped at Playa de Oro Rv Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like fresh seafood, this is the town to see. Very inexpensive for fresh fish, scallops, and especially shrimp. There is even a guy that drives thru the park selling seafood from his car - and yes, it is safe to eat. Only OTA TV and was able to get one station that was in English, but it is just old shows. Wi-Fi was very bad. However, all of the sites now have ethernet connections, so bring your cable. We were able to VPN to a USA address and play network TV (CBS, NBC, ABC)

We were lucky to be able to reserve a beachfront space for the first time, as those spaces usually get taken quickly. Celebrated our anniversary with some friends we see there every year. Love the park, we go every year for Thanksgiving, and usually in the spring also. The beach is wonderful, and the staff and security always treat us like family. Best rv park in town without question. We camped at Playa de Oro Rv Resort in a Motorhome.

Spent three weeks here. Rate was 126.00 per week. Knowledgeable staff, and clean park. Dusty. On the beach. Nice park, returning next year for a month. We camped at Playa de Oro Rv Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: March, 2009 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed two weeks and had some great weather, except for a couple windy days. Wide and level gravel sites, shared electric/water hookups. Two laundromats were open all hours. The beach is wide and clean, but the swimming area is rocky bottom. Some local vendors walk the beach, but aren't annoying. Loud music on weekends coming from a bar 1/2 block away was tolerable. Restaurants, Pemex gas, markets, banks and the Malecon are all within a ten minute drive. Wi-Fi had a good, fast signal. We camped at Playa de Oro Rv Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park right on the beach. Walking distance to restaurants. Spaces side by side and back to back. Shared hookups. Limited big rig sites. In "free zone", no papers needed except Mexican auto insurance. We camped at Playa de Oro Rv Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
