First, this park was hit hard by an EF-2 tornado not too long ago, so they are still cleaning up from that. The campground is small in size, but does have about 8 FULL hookups. (50 amps and sewer). This is important since the dump station is out of service because of the Tornado. We did not know this until we got there. Lucky for us, we were on a full service site. The bathrooms were clean and nice, but I just looked around and did not use them. There was a horseshoe pit and community fire pit area in the campground. There are 3 ponds at this state park. Large one in the front, one small one that was accessible from the cabin area and one small that was accessible from the campground. The large pond and the pond by the campground are big enough for kayaks and small fishing boats. The campground does rent them. We caught a couple of nice bass, so there are fish in the ponds. There is also a nice swimming area and playground for the kids. They had one hiking trail open and there are several geocaches in the park if you do that. There is WiFi at the Ranger office and some small supplies. The only issues I have with this park are the Roads, the dump station and the location of the trash dumpster area. The Roads are in bad shape and potholes are filled in with ROC which is better than nothing, but they are still bad. The dump station being closed would have been a big problem for us if we did not have a full hookup site. Also, the dump station is in a weird location and could be very difficult to get in and out of. The trash dumpster area is location almost at the front entrance. I am sure there is a reason for this, but it was very inconvenient to dispose of trash every night. You had to drive to the dumpster. - Stephen Howard

Great value for full hook up site in a nice small state park. The park was recently a direct hit by some tornados, so there is a lot of debris and workers attempting to clean up after the storm, but it is nice with a pretty lake and some cascading dams. We saw people fishing, but did not try our luck. Park staff very friendly and accommodating. Verizon service was good. Sites a bit on the narrow side, we did not use our fire pit for fear it was too close to the camper. A lot of trees, but we were able to position to get satellite from our roof mounted dish from site 24. - Stax

The old reviews are misleading. Some natural disaster must have come thru here recently as there is a lot of damage and trees down. Most campsites would be almost unusable due to water damage, etc. Not sure what the hosts in SC state parks do, but it's not much. Sites with firepits full of garbage, etc. Bathroom small but clean. - MSSW

Nice for one overnight. Easy off/on from I-26. We could not get level no matter what we did, we backed in, drove in, and finally ended up parallel to the road. We were still not level, but gave up, it was only one night. You pull in, pick a spot and pay via the honor system. No sewer at site, but dump station near laundry/restrooms. All sites have a lake view, owner on site, seemed vigilant at keeping out non-campers. - TBWard

This park is strictly just for an overnight stay. Be prepared there is no level ground to be found. You just drive up to the connections on the grass and do the best you can. They did have 50 amp service and water. No cable or dump connections. It was quiet and the owners were very friendly. I would recommend this place for an overnight stay and I would stay here again. At first I was not sure what we were going to find. It is close to the interstate and very easy to find. Hope this helps you. I always depend on reviews so I speak only what I think. - sue of holland

What a best kept secret, I don't want to share! If you are traveling I-26, this is a great overnight stop, with a Pilot on the road leading to this CG. There are only water & 30 or 50 amp hook ups. Since no one was there, the owner came out to greet us & guide us. We are in a 41 ft MH with tow and the road you have to go around was a challenge; I can not picture getting through it if its raining a lot. What you can do is stop prior to getting to that point, unhook your tow, back into an empty spot you want & then walk down & pay- its an honor system. There is a lovely private lake and its so quiet. It was a great stop over. Big rigs need to be aware of the branches overhead and I would not attempt the loop around road in the rain, back in your chosen site instead. - LMal
Mar 2016 - $20.00
This place is run by people who speak little or no English and there are piles of junk cars everywhere ...major electrical issues on every site and sewerage problems on every site ...also has a run down shower house and very poor maintained property ...do not stay here very unsafe. - Michael71
Apr 2008 - $15.00
This park is acceptable for an overnight stay. There are piles of construction debris scattered here and there throughout the park. The 30 amp wiring is poorly wired at some sites. The advertised "new" shower house appears unfinished and has a hole where a doorknob or latch should be and a toilet sitting on the porch. The pull through sites are fairly level, the road noise is high and ambiance is nil. The owner accepts the Passport America discount. I would never pay the $30 full charge to stay here. - RV Vagabond
