Big park. Sites are big enough & drained well in a day long downpour. About half hour to most attractions. Kind of pricey. Very slow in and out due to their 4321 speed bumps! We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Magnolia and Drayton Hall are nice plantations to visit. Patriots Point with the USS Yorktown and boat ride to Ft. Sumpter is a really nice area. Took a Gray Line tour of the historic district because it was pouring rain, well worth the 20$. Plenty of good restaurants in the Market District.

This campground served us very well and we enjoyed our stay there. The loop we were in (H) had fairly spacious sites, but I could see that sites near the back of the campground were closer together. There are no firepits at the site, but there are a limited (stress limited) number of fire rings available for rent at $4.50/day. The pool is clean and comfortable chairs are available, but you are pretty much off to the side of a busy highway. We would stay here again. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

If you're able to turn left out of the campground onto US-17, go buy a lottery ticket because it's your lucky day. Plan on making a U-turn.

Would definitely camp at this beautiful site again. Clean & spacious. We liked the close proximity to Charleston's tourist attractions. Very appreciative of front office staffer's suggestions about touring the smaller towns Waltersboro & Beaufort. We stayed an extra 2 days to visit them and so glad we did. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a clean, well kept park. The staff is very friendly and helpful, gave us lots of maps, brochures, and directions. The cable TV worked fine, but the wi-fi was terrible (6 stations, but we cold not connect to any of them). It is very tough to turn left out of the park, onto 17 north, but you can go right 3 times in a big circle to go north. We had a lovely shady spot. There are lots of garbage cans, recycle bins, and 2 pump stations. We would definitely go back. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for 9 days after our trip to Asheville was cancelled due to weather issues. Observations: 1) Getting into park from US17 is a "suicide" run, traffic horendous. 2) Speed bumps in park, too high, too many. 3) Site we had was clean, spacious, and quiet. BUT, cable was poor, wifi poor, water pressure poor, and NO Satellite signal! 4) Convenient to Charleston, but once again, getting into and out of the park across US17 treacherous. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Very helpful staff. They have propane when you first come in. Large park very quiet and clean. We parked in back section, lots of space between trailers. We were in full hookup section and were able to get satellite tv. Sites are gravel or a pad with a nice grassy area. They have an area to recycle and a laundry area. Would stay here again. Somters fort is very interesting, place where the civil war began. Get tickets in advance online. Tea Plantation and Market in historic Charleston nice, get to market early lots of people and short on parking. Local history museum interesting too.

Nice place. Sites have plenty of room. Hookups worked well. WiFi had good service. Very clean park. As others have indicated, making a left turn, or even getting into the left turn lane in hopes of making a u turn, is impossible. We didn't seem to hear the road noise others have commented about. Trains, Planes, Autos, Ambulances and Fire Trucks - yes, there is noise here. We ran a few fans in the evening [for white noise] that helped, but that did not solve the noise issue (i.e., our sleep was still periodically disturbed). For anything more than a short stay, we would have a problem with the noise at this campground. We have stayed at this campground twice. The positive is the site assigned to us, both times, fit us. We did not care for the site during our first visit, a little closer to our neighbors than we prefer and it was very unlevel front to back. The site that was assigned to us, during the second visit, was nicer (i.e., better site length and spacing). The campground location makes a trip to the historic areas of Charleston relatively easy, but due to the noise, outdated facilities and infrastructure as well as you can't reserve a specific site [nor will they tell you the site they assigned to you, until you arrive at the campground] - we don't find this campground overly desirable. However, the campground does have some big rig friendly sites. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here 3 weeks in April/May 2017. Its a large park with a great variety in site conditions. We had a concrete pad site that was level, but on small side considering cost. No trees although we asked for a site with trees due to having a pet in the RV and there were tree sites open close to us most of the time. We had July temps while there so were not happy having no shade after a 3 week commitment while those coming in for a night or two got shaded sites. Grounds are very well kept. Restrooms often had clogged toilets that stayed that way a while, but other wise clean. Nice but small laundromat considering how many sites are here. The reason we will never come back here is the location. It is on 4 lane road that stays busy all day long and is at a very popular left turn to the coast so turning left out of the park to go to Charleston is pretty much impossible. You must turn right, take a right to the next road, do a U-Turn and come back to the light to turn left to Charleston. The other reason is heavy traffic to Charleston. One morning after taking 45 minutes to drive about 5 miles towards Charleston we just gave up and went back to the campground. Talking to our neighbors they had also done the same thing before. So we started looking for things to do away from Charleston. We did like Charleston even though on a good day it took a while to get there, and will return, but not at this campground due to location. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Parking in Charleston is a bit of a challenge so we used the enclosed visitor parking the the visitors center and walked to were we wanted to go. Great city to walk around and you see much more than if driving looking for spots to park. If you drive a short distance from the rv park to the right towards Savannah, there is a small but interesting wildlife refuge with well maintained hiking trials.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a monthly rate of $750 (we did receive notice that the price will increase to $925 in January because of upgrades they are doing). The place was pretty huge, and most spots could handle any sized rig. Staff was friendly. Overall the place was good; we'd stay here again if we were in the Charleston area. Having said that, there were some negatives. It's about a 1/4 from the front to the back - you have to navigate over 11 sets of speed bumps/humps, it's borderline ridiculous. Because we were 'monthly', we had to submit a picture of our rig and tow vehicle before they would accept our reservation. They also did a 'meet and greet' after we set up to make sure we had everything in order, hose under rig, sewer hose off ground, etc. None of those things were deal breakers, but kinda odd. water pressure came in at 38PSI, the office said normal is 40, which wasn't enough to fill our toilet bowl, so we had to fill the tank and use the water pump. And as someone else said, 4 washers, and 2 dryers isn't near enough for the amount of sites (although they work very well). We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The shopping center just past the campground has pretty much everything you need.. Publix, frozen yogurt, pizza, hibachi, a pub style restaurant, nail salon, UPS store, bank and a vet (who was wonderful with our two dogs, definitely recommend them). Don't waste time trying to turn left out of the campground if there is any traffic. Just turn right and then right on to Bees Ferry, right on Jerry McConnell to get you back to the interstate. Much safer, less frustration.

Very large campground, 221 sites on approximately 45 acres.. We were in 007 which was a pull-thru, 50 amps, gravel streets and sites with grass dividing the sites. We also had a picnic table. Some of the down sides of this park is it's over run with squirrels. They have a fishing area but beware of the alligators in the pond. The laundry was very disappointing, 4 regular size washers & 2 big dryers. Not enough for 221 sites. The park has very large oak trees with Spanish moss. Last, the park has speed bumps, lots of speed bumps. Some could take out an axel. We would probably come back if in the area. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Large, very nice campground on the outskirts of Charleston. Sites are mostly gravel, with some paved sites and some grass sites scattered throughout. Most of the sites in the interior of the park are pull through. While we weren't able to leave our tow vehicle in front of the RV when unhitched, there is plenty of space between sites for parking. Large oak trees are plentiful providing lots of shade. Although we didn't hook up cable, we had good Wi-Fi for the 2 days we were there. Traffic on Savannah Hwy is every bit as bad as previous reviews have claimed, so plan your day trips to avoid heavy traffic. We will definitely return to this campground if we visit Charleston again. Overall Rating:

This park is in a convenient location to visit Charleston and nearby attractions. It is clean, well managed, well designed, and easy to navigate. There are quite a few giant oaks and nice shade trees. Shaded and sunny sites are available. Full and partial hook-ups are also available. There are some speed bumps, but the roads are paved. The entrance is wide open with plenty of room to park while checking in. There is a swimming pool, laundry and restroom facilities with showers. The population is dense and traffic is heavy out on the main road, but the park remains quiet as there are no sites on the main road. The office/store carries a few staples, a lending library and brochures on local attractions. Propane is available for purchase. Fire rings and firewood come with a rental cost. There is a cell phone tower within sight, so our service was the best we've ever had: both phone and our WIFI. We stayed in an electric/water site in a 31' rig with a Checy Sonic toad. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.
