We loved our stay at Little Pee Dee! It's conveniently located near I-95 in northern South Carolina, but it's far enough away from everything that all you really hear is silence. There is usually a lake, but at the time at that we were there, they had drained it for repair work on the local dam. It's still a beautiful view of the grassy lake bottom. I loved watching the sunrise light it up from our site. There are 50 campsites, about half of them have electricity hookups. All of them have their own water spigot. There is a dump station and a dumpster located at the entrance to the campground. Cell service for Verizon was great and consistent at about 2-3 bars for 4G LTE. AT&T cell service got 1-2 bars for 4G. T-Mobile was non-existent. We would definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, loved the layout, the convenience, and the ranger and camp hosts were great to talk to! We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed for four nights and really enjoyed the peace & quiet. It's a small campground, with 50 sites, 32 sites with water and 30 amp electric. No full hookups. Utility connections are old but worked fine. Water connection for our site was pretty far from the motorhome water fill valve. We connected a second water hose so no problem. Our site wasn't level, requiring several leveling blocks. Excellent OTA television reception. Fair to good AT & T cell coverage. No wi-fi. Dump station and trash dumpster both easily accessed as you leave the campground. Bathrooms and showers are old but were cleaned frequently. Roads and sites are sand. This is an awesome campground if you're looking for peace & quiet. But there's not a lot to do with the kids because Lake Norton is gone; the dam collapsed and hasn't been rebuilt. There's a nature trail and that's about it. Bring bug spray because the mosquitoes are aggressive. Price reflects in-state resident senior discount. We'll stay here again, most likely after the dam is rebuilt and Lake Norton is back again. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Absolutely beautiful little park situated in very natural surroundings. Road winding through the campground is packed sand/dirt, as are most sites. Loads of trees and shade. That said, this may not be the best park for the larger rigs. Most sites are fairly level but some definitely will require some effort. Most sites enjoy deep throughout the day. Comfort stations are old and showing their wear, but they are clean. OTA TV signals are good, Verizon reception is on the slow side. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is on Lake Norton which, this visit, was no longer there. Hurricane Matthew broke the dam and the lake drained away. The park ranger says that plans are in the works to rebuild the dam and reestablish the lake, hopefully within a year or so. I must say, though, even without the lake, it was still an absolutely beautiful and peaceful spot.

$18 per night was for a level packed sand pull-though site with 30-amp electric and water. Our site, #15, was mostly shaded by large trees. The site had a wooden picnic table and fire ring. It was pleasantly quiet during our stay even over the weekend when many families arrived. The road through the campground is bumpy and winds through the trees but we made it to our site in our 40' motorhome towing a vehicle. The office, as it seems with most SC parks, is only open from 11 a.m. to noon. The Whip-poor-wills chant all through the night and the squirrels, butterflies, deer, and birds offer entertainment during the day. The campground host and park rangers were very friendly and helpful. There are many activities available, which you can find listed on their website. The campground is about 12 miles outside Dillon where most any amenity is available. AT&T and Verizon cell signal was low but usable. We received 37 digital over-the-air TV stations and many radio stations. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The nearest store is about 10 miles. The campground office is only manned for a couple hours each day so you may need to call ahead. Checkin was easy and staff we had contact with were all very nice. The park office does have firewood for $6 a bundle. No propane nearby. All of the roads thru the park are sand/dirt as are the sites. Most of the sites appear to be level with a few exceptions and all are very spacious with plenty of privacy. The site we selected did have a moderate grade to it and took some time to get our camper level. Some sites only have water connection for tent only. Some sites have new fire rings and new power poles. The lake is nice and they have boat and canoe rental. AT&T reception is poor as is 4G/LTE, but usable. The bathhouse was clean each time I visited. However, there was soap for washing hands, but no towels for drying. It appeared to have been recently painted. The park has a nice walking trail and there is plenty of wildlife to entertain. The only issue I had was that most pet owners did not pickup after them. One site, which appeared as if the people had been there for a while, could be smelled from the road as you walk by. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rustic park. Looks like it was built by CCC, same as many other SC parks. Very pretty, very quiet and laid back. We will surely return. My site was a little small but we made do. Ranger drove by to see if all was OK about an hour after check in. Friendly place. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Tent Trailer.

We needed a 1 night stop-over so we called a day ahead to try and make a reservation. Online reservation system has a 2 night minimum. Never heard back from them. We lucked out that one of the 2 rangers was there to check us in (park hour is only from 11-12 each day). He said the answering machine had issues. I think they never check for messages! One night without a reservation was not an issue at all. The park is nice, but needs some TLC. The roads in are bumpy with potholes, and during our walk around the lake other campers warned us for an active wasp nest and that they had been stung. We didn't do much and I don't think there was much to do other than boating and fishing. Swimming is not allowed! The site we had was OK, one of the few pull-throughs. Not paved, but sand. It was level and water pressure was OK. Would stay again, but just for passing through. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Motorhome.

Great little park. The campground office is only manned for a couple hours each day so you may need to call ahead. Check-in was easy and staff we had contact with were all very nice. The park office does have firewood for $6 a bundle. No propane nearby. All of the roads through the park are sand/dirt as is the sites. Sweeping was a constant as sand was being tracked inside. Most of the sites appear to be level with a few exceptions and most are very spacious with plenty of privacy. Some of the upper numbered sites only have water connection and are tent only. The lake is nice and they have boat and canoe rental. Had the weather been a little warmer I would have tried to catch a fish or two. AT&T reception is poor as is 4G. Bathhouse was clean and well stocked, and heated. I would rate higher except for all the sand. The park has a nice walking trail and there is plenty of wildlife to entertain. When leaving, had to stop at dump station. The water hose was short and had no connections to rinse tanks with. There was no way to access other end to use our hose. Overall, we like the park and would visit again. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a charming, rustic, and small state park on a small lake. Water and 30 amp electric at all sites. Dirt roads and dirt campsites are laid out among the trees. We had a 30 foot RV and had no problem driving through the campground during daylight, but there are lots of trees making several turns kind of tight. You don't want to arrive after dark. Not big rig friendly. Many of the campsites were challenging to back a trailer into due to the locations of various trees. Dump station is conveniently located and easy to access when leaving. If you like natural settings in a peaceful location, then you will like this place. We would definitely stay here again when we are passing by on I-95. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pretty little park. Lake was nice yet very small. Minimal hiking trails and need to be careful and on guard for wild boar and snakes. Very friendly CG hosts. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great facility! It's quiet. Has nature; beautiful views and great staff. The roads are tight. We're in a 35' MH and had no problem. Bigger rigs might. It's about 14 miles from 95, but a pleasant country drive. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Motorhome.

We came back to this park after a year because my husband believed he had found the perfect site. After setting up and looking around I had to agree!! This site was perfect. We had a wonderful view from our back window. We could sit outside facing the water. Some trees had been cut down making the access road through the campground easier to maneuver. This is a nice little state park. The only negative we saw was that several trees hinder navigation through the park. We had a nice quiet weekend. We will go back for fishing during cooler weather. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice State park fairly convenient to I95 - just a few miles away. There is a small lake to enjoy and nice path to take a walk. The roads are packed sand and are narrow. Some of the campsites have low hanging branches. Big rigs might find it difficult to get through but it did appear to be do-able. Park staff and camp host friendly. Would stay again. The rangers are really friendly, the bathrooms are clean, although only skylights for lighting during the day that makes one shower almost dark. Sites are clean and well kept. Roads could use some work in the camping area. Children can feel safe riding bikes and playing. Good quiet place to go to just chill. Certain cell phone companies barely have cell reception. The lake needs some serious work, it is full of weeds and we counted 31 water moccasins in one area at one time. We camped at Little Pee Dee State Park in a Motorhome.
