Touristy place but campground was nice with long, level, pull thru spots. Plenty of shade. Easy access to I-95. Even though we were fairly close to the interstate highway, it was reasonably quiet. Great overnight spot when traveling on the east coast. We camped at South of the Border in a Motorhome.

Large park with pull-throughs (cost more than back-ins) and back-ins. Ours was a back-in. Old park and roughly maintained but OK. Pull-through sites are nicer. Lots of shade. Campground is part of a Mexican-theme based amusement park complex. For the June time period, not many takers. Our site sewer dump was not close enough for us to use and was mixed in with some old tree roots. We used a vacant site sewer connection in the morning as we were leaving. We camped at South of the Border in a Motorhome.

This was our second stop at Pedro's Campground, and I have to admit that I was glad we stopped on our way to Pennsylvania from Hilton Head Island. I am normally a light sleeper, but I hardly heard any traffic noise from I-95 and had a good nights rest. The pull-through site was extra large, the utilities were good, and the entire campground was clean and neat. I would bet that only 10% of the sites were occupied on a Friday night which made it even nicer. I would definitely stop here again. We camped at South of the Border in a Travel Trailer.

As a regular on I-95 I've avoided stopping at South of the Border but we were heading north in hard rain and running out of daylight. By the time the Good Sam GPS said we arrived we were past the sign :( I was pleasantly surprised, the place was friendly, organized, gated, clean and easy to navigate. The site was easy to back into and more than the usual space between sites. Only problem was in this driving rain there was a deep puddle around the connections and I waited until the lightning past before plugging in. We departed the next morning without having to buy any fireworks :) We camped at South of the Border in a Motorhome.

Really ticks me off when the trees need to be trimmed back so the branches do not scrape along the sides of the RV. The check-in went smooth, the site was clean and fairly level. Water, sewer, and electric were fine. The RV Park roads are pretty narrow, as are the sites, we had to pull up and backup several times to minimize the tree branches grating along the side of our 5th wheel. As per most RV parks, WiFi was not worth using. Probably would not use again. We camped at South of the Border in a Fifth Wheel.

OK its Pedro's. Campground was adequate for a one night stop over, particularly if you are self contained and didn't need the restrooms. Campground is gated and key card controlled which is a plus for security. Site roads are asphalt but heavily impacted by tree roots which keeps speeds down. Pull through site driveway was narrow and just wide enough for the vehicle track. Site was level enough for the jacks to stabilize. Connections are about in the middle which was fine for electric but sewer was too far back to connect without removing the toad and moving it around to the front. Restrooms are old. They were clean but not inviting. Counters are low. Stalls are painted cinder block with home made wooden doors with obvious wear. Exterior light was not operational while we were there. Ladies in the party were unimpressed and would prefer to stay elsewhere. Playground was small, old and weather beaten. Auto opening gate for exit wouldn't open without sending someone around through the personnel gate (in the rain) to use the key card reader on the outside. Office is not staffed at night. Because of rain we did not explore any of the "attractions" at Pedro's. We camped at South of the Border in a Motorhome.

Stopped here for 2 nights in a Class A. We'd been on the road 2 days escaping the snow and this made a great stop to rest. The GPS (resort address) wanted to take us south to the first actual SC exit off I95 and then back 5 miles up 301, but came off at exit 1A (border of NC/SC) per their instructions and it was only a few hundred yards off the exit to take a left into the CG. Had site 176: level and a pull through long enough for the RV & tow. The pad was asphalt and all hookups were well placed. Sites aren't real tight, but maybe only 20' wide from your septic to neighbors. What was really nice was the second water faucet and permission to wash the RV on site. Just ran the tv on antenna, but reception was great. Didn't use any of the restaurants, but did have a walk thru the stores and facilities. All what you'd expect from other reviews. I did notice the bath houses seemed ADA compliant. Definitely will add this to our stop list when traveling I95. We camped at South of the Border in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here from August through December and paid a monthly rate of $523.19/month and includes electricity.

This is a hidden treasure mostly used by one-nighters traveling north and south. The campground itself is gated and well maintained. The grounds are kept clean and if you put your garbage out at one of the many garbage receptacles, it will be picked up twice daily.

The roads through the park are not too wide, but navigable for big rigs. Originally, all the sites were backins, but recently, most of the interior sites have been made into spacious pull throughs. Also, on these sites, the electrical boxes have been updated.

There are only two washers and one dryer for the entire campground.

There are some play areas for children, and of course, you have the entire South of the Border experience, as well. The park itself has no amenities such as a pool, but you are allowed access to the indoor and outdoor pool at the South of the Border motel.

When we first arrived, the WiFi worked well enough to stream...and they advertise that it supports streaming. However, after Hurricane Matthew, it did not work as good. But, it is still good enough to do emails and check Facebook, etc....and it is free.

There is no cable TV but you can get several antenna channels out of Florence, Wilmington (NC) and Myrtle Beach.

The park is close to Dillon SC and there are a few restaurants there. There is also a WalMart nearby. If you are looking for a quick meal, the South of the Border complex has a nice steakhouse, The Peddler, and a short order restaurant where you can buy hamburgers and hotdogs, fries, others sandwiches, beer and cola drinks.

The personnel were always helpful.

My only suggestion would be to install more washers and another dryer, and to upgrade the WiFi.

Our stay was pleasant and without a doubt, I would stay here again. We camped at South of the Border in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

For meals in Dillon, I recommend King's Pizza and the Kyntre House. There are also restaurants in Lumberton, 18 miles north on 95, and in Florence, 30 miles south on 95.

Conveniently located off I-95. Pull thru sites are long and gravel. Staff is friendly and helpful. We stay here quite often and will definitely stay here again. South of the Border has many shops that are fun to visit--think 1950/1960 "tourist traps". ;) We have eaten many times at the "Peddler Restaurant". Good, reasonably priced.
We stayed here in a 32 foot motor home with toad that we did not have to "unhook". :) We camped at South of the Border in a Motorhome.

This is a good overnight stop when traveling on I-95. Easy check, friendly staff, secure area. Outside of that, there's no reason to stay any longer unless you need to be in the area. Wi/fi was excellent. Decent area to walk dogs, some sites have shade. Verizon worked good. No cable but you could get some air channels. We camped at South of the Border in a Travel Trailer.

This is a good stop on I-95, a good mid-point between the Northeast and Florida. The park was almost empty when we were there. There were some low-lying off-limits spots that still had water from the big storms last year. The famous SOTB attractions are right there and fun and funky even if not particularly awesome. There is even a high bay self service Truck/RV wash. The park is open and flat without much shade or privacy. Attendants were helpful with propane. We camped at South of the Border in a Motorhome.
